  17. If doing foolish things were a capital offense I never would have lived past high school (I'm 63). The police have an obligation to protect people... even foolish people who sometimes need to be protected from themselves. Now a man is dead and a couple of police officers are probably going to be fired. Only a fool would be satisfied with THAT outcome.

  21. @Jake shepherd Anyone can intervene anywhere if they have good ideas and courage. Unfortunately, most Republicans lack both. Trump is a notable exception. He is one of the few Republicans who is not afraid to take on the Democrats.

  25.  @stevesilva2780  I'm more optomistic. I believe it's the bad cops who are quitting because they can no longer get away with bullying people. Eventually we will have a police force staffed with professional peace officers who protect people rather than kill them.

  29.  @maxheadman59  No, I'm not saying that. I'm saying that the police have an obligation to use deadly force as a last resort. It doesn't appear they did that in this case. I may be wrong but it does appear that the officers involved will join the growing number of ex cops in the unemployment line once this case is resolved. Cities and towns simply cannot afford to take a chance on cops who kill people.

  42. Growing up as a Protestant in a predominantly Catholic region, I was always told by Catholics that my religion didn't matter because Catholicism is the only true form of Christianity.
