  19.  @susanclark8578  Yes, I had a friend who was shot and killed by the police in the back yard of his White suburban home. Also, my blond hair, blue eyed, college educated son was constantly harrassed by the police when he was in High School and college. Finally I was outrageously mistreated by the police during my divorce. Even though I have no criminal record (not even a speeding ticket) and my ex-wife presented no evidence of abuse (because there was none) the police treated me like a criminal until the divorce was final and I received the house and full custody of both kids. This is why I don't share your reverence for the police.

Why don't you ask any man who went through a divorce if he was satisfied with the outcome. If you still need more convincing then I can refer you to two people I know who had to grow up without a farther thanks to police.

  21.  @KrodaStagg The police covered up the entire incident because they knew it was NOT a justified shooting. This scenario is repeated daily in America. The police shoot someone, conduct an "investigation" and then conclude there was no wrong doing on the part of the police and the facts of the case are never made public. It is not a generalization to say that police investigating themselves leads to police misconduct being unpunished. Exposing and punishing police misconduct is the ONLY way the offenders are going to be held accountable, and that helps EVERYONE.

  22.  @chrisdouglas1158  The woman I married was a wonderful person who succumed to mental illness 20 yeaes into our marriage. I don't blame her for anything but I DO blame the police for the way they mishandled things. Furthermore, my 30 year old son suffers from the same illness only his case is more sever. He has been harrassed by the police so much that I demanded they stop responding to calls to his address and send trained health care professionals instead. I also did a lot more than put a sign on his door. I sent an email to the police chief and copied every single officer on the force warning them that they are NOT qualified to be responding to calls at my son's address and it was only a matter of time before tragedy occurrs. I warned them that they will all be sued if the murder my son. I aslo alerted the town administrator and the entire town council that they were looking at a huge lawsuit if they allowed the police to continue responding to calls at my son's address. The police have not bothered him since. They, like all bullies, respond to those who are scarier than themselves. If you think my actions were excessive then I have the following question for you: How far would YOU go to save your kid's life?

  23.  @Individual_Lives_Matter  The police in my town investigate themselves. That's a fact. Also, I'm aware that many police have been fired and prosecuted in recent years as the scope of their misconduct is finally being revealed. This trend needs to continue until the bad cops are gone.

  24.  @TheMaleRei  No details of the shooting were ever released. Not even the name of the officer who fired the fatal shot. All records are sealed and no one can access them. I have made direct inquiries to the department, including the chief but they were all ignored.

  26.  @brownbiscuit4254  I'm sorry you are having trouble accepting my personal experiences with police misconduct, but I assure you that it's all true. Furthermore, I have Hispanic and Black friends who have had numerous experiences with the police similar to mine. It just happens that the friend who was killed was White. All I ask is that you honor my fallen friend by keeping an open mind on the matter of police misconduct. Nothing can bring him back but we, as a country, can work together so that others don't die. Thank you for listening, and stay safe.
