There would't be any problem if China respected and obeyed International Maritime law.
1
In 1979 China invaded Vietnam because Vietnam entered Cambodia in response to Cambodia's unprovoked massacre of Vietnamese villiages on the western border. To call that a betrayal of China is blatently false. Vietnam was defending itself from the brutal Pol Pot regime that China had formed an alliance with.
1
@Eastwind99 Have you ever heard of Pol pot and the Khmer Rouge? If so, do you have a problem with anything THEY did, or are you going to justify the holocost they committed on their own people by blaming it on Vietnam?
1
@Eastwind99 I never made the argument that Vietnam was "saving" Cambodia. Vietnam was defending itself against a hostile regime that was supported by BOTH China and their new ally, the US. If you were familiar with the actual history of that time, you would know that the US and China used their position in the UN to have the Khmer Rouge recognized as the official government of Cambodia and refused to hold Pol Pot accountable for leading the biggest genocide since Adolph Hitler. Stop blaming Vietnam for the crimes of Cambodia and their Chinese and US collaborators.
1
@Eastwind99 Here's a popular saying that applies to YOU: "Against stupidity the very gods themselves contend in vain". It's abundantlu obvious that you have never been to Vietnam and know nothing about it's people, culture or history. For whatever reason, you have this chip on your shoulder which tarnishes your preception of reality causing you to blame Vietnam for all the problems in SE Asia while giving a free pass to China, Cambodia, the US and all the other nefarious players ACTUALLY responsible. I hope you are getting paid to spread this nonsense because it would be a shame if you were making a fool of yourself for free.

I grew up in Boston, which is widely regarded as having the worst drivers in the country. Now I live in Hanoi, which makes driving in Boston liik like a walk in the park.
1
What's happening in Hanoi?
1
@davelawson2564 A happily married moron. how's YOUR love life?
1
Why did China invade Vietnam in 1979? Don't lie.
1
@brians9508 True, but he was barred from boxing for 3 years.
1
@imshulei Yes. But the trend here in the North appears to be Chinese factories.
1
@imshulei Why would Vietnam hire me as a Natonal security advisor?
1
NEWS FLASH! the Cold War ended a long time ago. Time to discard those old, outated Cold War narratives.
1
What has America taken from Israel and Ukraine?
1
serriajohn What history is being forgotten?
1
@masnur7007 Who was the aggressor in the American War?
1
serriajohn You're right about economics but you're wrong about the war.
1
@masnur7007 He says the people of Vietnam will never forget the American war but the truth is that they have already forgotten about it.
1
@masnur7007 From 1954 until 1975, Vietnam was officially 2 separate countries (The Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Democratic Republic of Vietnam) with 2 separate governments and 2 separate armies. What does Jesse Greenspan say about THAT? Is she attempting to re-define what a civil war is or is she referring to the conflict that broke out in the Republic of Vietnam between the National liberation Front (NLF) and the ruling government? Please clarify.
1
@masnur7007 I know they probably look the same to you but Japanese and Vietnamese people are NOT the same. The people here in Vietnam are unique and they harbor no animosity toward America or Americans whatsoever. I know this because I'v lived in Hanoi for the past 5 years and I'm married to a Vietnamese woman. My mother in law served as a nurse in the NVA in Laos. While she was there, American bombers completely leveled her hometown of Thanh Hoa. If anyone has a right to be angry with America, it's her. However, no one was happier when she found out her daughter was going to marry an American and she has been super supportive of us since day one. She is typical of all the other people I've talked to here in the North. The only people I've talked to in Vietnam who still harbor animosity toward Americans are some people in the South who were connected to the former government of S Vietnam and blame the Americans for abandoning them.
1
@masnur7007 A conflict between two opposing factions within the same country.
1
@masnur7007 I don't pretend to know everything but I feel living here and having a Vietnamese family gives me a perspective that most would find a hell of a lot more compelling than ANYTHING you have to say about the people of Vietnam.
1
@masnur7007 No. The American Civil War WAS a Civil War because it was a conflict between two factions within the same country and no other countries intervened in the fight. See the difference?
1
@masnur7007 I know the West's version of the partition of Vietnam but the Vietnamese perspective is not so clear as many accounts are unreliable.
1
@ngoctruongpaulnguyen6503 How many countries that invaded Vietnam EVER addressed the war crimes they committed? Vietnam has no animosity toward any of them. not even Japan. The people of Vietnam leave things in the past and embrace the present.
1
@ngoctruongpaulnguyen6503 I can assure YOU that the people here in the north where I live regard the war as a reveloution rather than a civil war. They were fighting for Vietnam while your family was fighting for Foreign occupiers and a corrupt puppet government.
1
@forreal8014 If you're so mistreated here in Vietnam then why don't yoju go back to China where EVERYBOBY is treated with respect?
1
@samueloabilemunyari3717 That pretty much sums it up.
1
@AzzandraRu-w7q You're not only rude, you're down right insulting. How dare you say that my marriage was seen as financial by my mother-in-law when you've never even met us! The truth is that I married into an upper middle class family who was doing just fine without me OR my money. Do us all a favor and stay in Russia where people like you belong.
1
@picandvideo Western corporations will go wherever they think they can make money. China looked much better than India at the time. Now India looks better so American corporations are starting to leave China and move to india.
1
April 30th is Vietnam Independence Day? I thought September 2nd was Vietnam Independence Day and April 30th is Reunification Day.
1
@tomposti6361 Right now Vingroup is winning.
1
Sure, just like sooner or later Vietnam would succumb to the invading armies to Japan, Framce and The US
1
Nobody works WITH China. They only work FOR China. Vietnam understands this better than anyone.
1
@dantse2012able This sounds like tankie propaganda.
1
@starnight1209 The US spent billions killing people in Vietnam. It was the people who survived the war who received nothing from the US government. However, that's beginning to change now that the US needs them.
1
@Jul_Nguyen How much time have you spent here in Vietnam during the past 5 years?
1
@Jul_Nguyen Why did you leave? Why haven't you returned?
1
@genbond7459 I call it the American War because I live in Vietnam and that's what the people here call it. The reason they call it the American war is to distinguish it from all the other wars that occurred in the last century when other countries invaded Vietnam. There was the invasion by Japan (1941-1945, France (1946-1954}, America (1961-1973) Cambodia !978-1991} and the Chinese invasion in 1979. I hope you learned something from this.
1
@piusnyaboga903 My dad died nearly 10 years ago.
1
@irwan3064 If you have a point to make then make it and stop being such a coward.
1
@po350 I agree. However, it should be noted that the people here in Vietnam refer to it as the American War to distinguish it from all the other wars this country endured during the 20th century. Between 1941 and 1991 Vietnam was invaded by Japan, France, The US, Cambodia and China. My mother-in law was born into war and was middle aged befor her country was finally at peace.
1
The only stupid thing I see here is YOU!
1
Which CCP lapdog propaganda talking nut paid you to post that comment?
1
@ysw8291 Yes, we are high class people who can afford to boycott crappy Chinese junk when we have a choice.
1
@havencat9337 I'm familiar with the Chinese products sold here in Vietnam. Their cheap, for sure, but good???? Definiteluy NOT!
1
I live in Vietnam and volunteer 6 hours per week working with children who are victims of Agent Orange poisoning. I can tell you that the Vietnam has not forgotten about Agent Orange.
1
So what? Vietnam was never dependent on the US and never will be.
