  1. Pudding originally meant any dish made with rendered fat. Then it became a class of dishes boiled made with rendered fat, which were often mixed with dried fruit and later sweetened with sugar. In the US it came to mean just the custard.

Metric is great for scientific precision, but a lot of daily tasks are easier in standard units. Yes, there’s foot-pounds, pound-force, BTU and lots of other units that are easy to convert between.
