  14. Apparently the Tiger, King Tiger, Panther, Pershing, etc. don’t exist. Also, you’re mistaking the Soviets for the US with having more aircraft than everyone else combined. As for tanks, the Soviets built the most but nowhere near more than everyone else combined. The Soviets only built a few thousand more than the US did.

  20. Yes, the Germans were forced to play a quality over quantity game. However, in their over engineering, the Germans actually under cut the quality. If you have 1/10 the number of tanks, you need those tanks to be up an running as much as possible. However, an overly complex tank that breaks more often and takes longer to repair is making your handicap even worse.

  24.  @povang  most of China’s industry is light industry, like molded plastic and assembling phones. Most US industry is heavy industry, like building aircraft. The difference is apparent when China can’t build a high performance jet engine for their fighters, while the US is selling the most advanced fighter in the world to allies.

Japan lacked the factories, expertise, and supply networks the US had. No one did. Japan’s own estimates of the time were that the US had 20 to 30 times their own industrial capacity.

  38. Most of those have nothing to do with the effectiveness of a tank but rather strategic planning. Until someone invents a tank that doesn't need fuel, ammo, or a crew to operate it, tanks are always going to be vulnerable to being cut off from supplies and made ineffective that way.

  46.  @jonreese7066  the British and French let the Germans have other people’s territory. Japan attack US territory directly and sank a large part of the Pacific fleet. What Japan did was the equivalent of Germany invading France and hoping the French would just let them have what ever they took. Again, how does the US looking the other way for one ship equate to attacking the fleet and occupying US territory? So what if Japan has never been invaded. The leadership knew full well they didn’t have the resources to fight the US. I’ll say it again, their entire plan was for a country that has almost been perpetually at war to just give up.

  47. Japan couldn’t attack the West coast, let alone the East coast that had the major shipyards. Also, the American reaction to fear is to pull out a roughly appropriately sized gun and shot what ever spooked us until it’s dead a few times over.
