@matildagreene1744 and???

Great video! Yes, there are many people today who still want that division for greed.

@frederickgriffith7004 Thanks

When I think of dark Germans I think of Roma/Gypsies as well. Around 500k were killed in the Holocaust. Also, New Light Creek is 2 hours from Robeson County, NC which is a large Melungeon community.

Because America is made from multiple heritages most of us are mix with something, some more than others. It is sad that this should be a time of uniting and sharing but instead it has become more divisive. The more people see videos like these hopefully we will become united as a country. Our country has so much possibility. I remember in school each week we would study a heritage. We would dress like them and bring a dish/food to have a potluck. Our differences is what could make this country the best.

@auditoryaudacity5712 excusing and enabling hate is dangerous. Taking people on their word and not paying attention to their actions is naive and dangerous.

One of the problems with being "equal" is WHAT is considered equal? Just like when people say there are not enough minorities working for a company. They think equal is 50% black people working for a company but when you look at the WORKING population in the area (minus minors, incarcerated, etc) the population is much less. When you look at black owned businesses, sororities, Black colleges, etc they typically don't have much diversity. Same with the schools, what is considered equal? Is it cost per class, per school, per student? If there are more white kids in one class and less minorities in another class do both classes get equal amount of funding?

Sicilians are from Sicily. It is sad that so many of us don't know our history because our ancestors were trying to protect us. It is a blessing that we currently live in a time where we don't face racism and live in a system where we fill we need to hide it.
3
I am wondering if it was to distinguish between white people and freed slaves. In doing research I have noticed people with the same names but the only way to distinguish which family they are from was the skin color on census and other legal documents.

It is sad to see where the state of the world is now. I am afraid it will only get worse. These videos are very important. Once the Africans started murdering the white farmers there was a problem with the food supply. I wish Africa could support itself and stop receiving money from the US tax payers. People constantly complain that the US is racist. Yet how many people are flooding our borders? The black areas (that were once white) don't want gentrification. The neighborhoods have gone down hill even in areas where black people govern themselves. Most black companies only hire black people.

@e.urbach7780 My great grandparents came from Palermo, Sicily. It was always known my grandfather was in the mafia. I The movies don't bother me. My grandmother's family came from Ireland. They always show the Irish to be poor. Most of the time they were. They also show them angry and alcohols. I don't think it really effects us today. It upsets me more they try to make all white people racist slave owners. The majority of my biological father's family were Quakers. I think there is not enough representation of non-racist people in movies these days.

I can't tell if you are kidding. Many people were described as swarthy that didn't have black skin. Lincoln described himself as having a "dark complexion" and that his father had swarthy skin. He was not black. You need to remember the time period.
2
Interesting. It is believed my 8th great grandfather and his descendants are from New Kent starting mid 1600s. I will keep an eye out for that name while I am doing my genealogy. Remember, the Spanish were in Florida in the 1500s and then spread out.
2
It seemed in the 90s we were about to get there. It is sad people are so focused on skin color today.
2
@tudormiller887 the Portuguese had a colony in Africa and were leaders in the African slave trade. The first Africans in Virginia were on a Portuguese ship headed to Mexico that was robbed by a Dutch ship looking for gold. They took 20 African out of the 350 on board.
2
@joelhungerford8388 yes, people have tough times but we need to appreciate what we have and be thankful

Ross Perot was born in Texarkana (near Louisiana). It makes you wonder who his parents were and if he could have mixed ancestry. If so, he could have been the 1st President of mixed race had he won the election.
2
Exactly! It wasn't even just an unknown person. It was William Brewster. It doesn't get more ironic than that.
2
I would think that is based on slaves being the result tribes conquering other tribes and selling their prisoners of war. Many warriors killed the men of their enemies and used women as sex slaves or wives. I guess they figured making money off of them and sending them far away was a better option.
2
@rashb3994 there are masks and paintings to show what Egyptians looked like. There are paintings of black skin and brown skin.
2
@LibrarianBrooks I understand where you are coming from and it does seem white people are under attack but to be fair I have watched several of her videos and she doesn't seem to be that kind of person.
2
Actually, Angela had 2 white GRANDFATHERS, long past slavery. So, in both of those lines the "colonizers" are her biological ancestors who never owned her family. Brewster was a leader in the church, head of the church and colony, and today she is a communist who probably doesn't believe in religion. It is definitely ironic and quite the turn of events. She probably would have rather been related to Karl Marx.
2
They did always claim that. The first Africans, some who were later called Melungeons, came on a Portuguese slave ship
2
Very interesting
2
@german18072 actually, I went to school with a black guy who had red hair.
2
I always wonder why people who hate America so much don't choose to move to a country they respect more.
2
@leclube2282 Cash's wife was Sicilian but she also had African roots. Yes, it was very obvious which is why the Klan went after them.
2
Only in a hyper sensitive era is Indian style a slur. Just because mentioning a certain culture did something doesn't mean it is out of hate. Liberals seem more worried about things like that than most cultures. There have been videos about people asking certain cultures if they are are offended by what Liberals are offended by and they just laugh and say no.
2
@ronwinkles2601 interesting to know. I first learned of Melungeons because I have DNA connections to Goins and Sizemore. I was told we are related to the melungeon researcher, Jack Goins of Rogersville, Tennessee. I also have relatives that moved to Kentucky. This gives me more to research. 😊
2
@thefreeman8791 thank you! I read somewhere a man in New Jersey start it but I found documents while doing genealogy and couldn't remember where I saw it. It was when I fell down a rabbit hole. Maybe Clay is who I was think of. I was trying to remember who it was and thought it was Madison, Davis, or Forrest, but it could have been Clay.

Frank Perot reminds me of the singer Eric Church. I had an aunt my mom was best friends with. She married my adopted dad's brother. Until I was in my 20s I thought she was Italian like my mom because they looked similar. My aunt and cousins were very pretty. My female cousin looked like Cindy Crawford. I was surprised when my mom told me she was Creole because my dad and uncle's mom was extremely prejudice. She was never happy my dad married my mom and when black people would walk down her street (70s) she would tell them they better never walk down her street again. Her husband's uncle lived on a reservation in Oklahoma for awhile and married a Native American. They moved to Louisiana where my uncle met his wife. It is amazing the things you find out while doing genealogy. I have a strong feeling ,for many reasons, one or more of my 5th great grandparents on my biological father's side was black or melungeon. There is a brickwall I can't break. 23 and me says I am 3% African. Ancestry says I am 1% Sub-Saharan and 1% North African. I know I have it on my mom's side probably from my Sicilian or Mexican ancestors but a few years ago it said was also on my father's side but then it dropped of because it was less than 1%.
2
Great first story
2
I just wish they would focus more on the people who made enough money to buy their freedom and/or family members. Also, there were many free black people who owned land and farms. The WHOLE truth should be told. Not just the victim stories. It would help people be able to trace family genealogy and people should have pride in these stories.
2
@Thomas_Oklahoma 💯🎯 what is the agenda? Land Back movement
2
@jonperusquia9386 yes, I have watched many videos of the Lumbee Tribe and some of the Locklears
2
@TheNphillips so basically you feel segregation is better? I feel in all private businesses people should not have a say how a business is run but unfortunately in this communist/authoritarian environment that is not possible these days. It definitely should not be done in a public school in a city that pushes anti-white sentiment.
2
So much money is still spent in the Black community on wigs. Even trying to wear long braids.
2
Great video. I would love to see more of the video of your Granmy speaking about her life and heritage.
2
It's funny that the same people saying true black history isn't being taught are trying to silence it.
2
I find it funny they showed a picture of the black woman he enslaved. Yet, he lost his home for enslaving white people.

Airplanes fly out of the country regularly

Great video. I am sad to see how focused people still are about skin color. Gen X really didn't focus on that but it seems all the turmoil of the 60s never went away. It was just silent for a couple decades. I have always thought of Jesus as middle eastern but like so many aspects of Christianity, like Jesus's birthday, has been changed to bring more people into the church. The religions that did not celebrate pagan holidays nor allow idols like the cross/statues were considered non Christian not so long ago. Unfortunately, the corruption of many churches has contributed to the horrible society we live in today where people started to reject religion but has been replaced with hypersexuality and lawlessness.

I can't believe I got it wrong. Of course, everyone from Dallas knows about Campisi's and Louisiana Mafia ties to Kennedy shooting. My guess was NY, Chicago, Philadelphia, or St Louis. I was going off of family history and didn't realize New Orleans was that far back.
1
I didn't know about Haiti but I knew Lincoln tried to send them to different places in Africa and Africa rejected them. While doing genealogy research I read documents, I think in wills, where slave holders paid to have their slaves shipped to Liberia. I can't remember if that was before or during the American Colonization Society was founded in 1821. The colony became partily independent in 1839 and it became a nation in 1847.
1
I'm sorry but this sounds like a bunch of woke victimization. You are painting a whole group of people with one brush. That would be like me saying all black Americans are racists that hate white people like the Black Hebrew Israelites and the Pan-Africans. There are good and bad people in every race. Unfortunately, there always seems to be a group of people who want to pretend they are better than others.
1
Yes, we know the land back grift
1
Melungeons and Creole are more like tribes. It like saying just because you are Native American you are Cherokee when your genealogy may prove to be something else. These groups have a very specific history and family groups.
1
@k-dwanks2481 where in the US do you live and are an expert on?
1
@tanman49 many south Africans are white. Just because they are from Africa doesn't mean they aren't white.

@joelhungerford8388 who didn't struggle
