  12.  storhet  "safety does not come without tradegy" sure it does. You just don't treat the live environment as your test lab. Any good software developer will tell you that, and most of the time testing in the live environment won't cost lives. Yet here, when it will, they decided to do exactly that. And when you look at the software closely and realise how poorly it was written, without redundancy, without peer review, without backups and failsafes, outsourced to the cheapest offshore Indian 3rd party they could find, there is no way you can consider this anything but eminently avoidable. Particularly when you consider the amount of warnings they were given and what lengths they went to hide mcas from airlines, pilots, the faa and even their own test pilots.

  13.  @carsonmcmanus6620  if they were pilot error, why are they all grounded and what are Boeing trying to fix it nothing is wrong and why is it taking them so long? You think it's totally fine that mcas relied on one sensor, had complete pitch control with no limits, kicked in every 5 seconds relentlessly, had no failsafes like checking ground proximity, altitude etc? None of those are contributing factors? How much time do you think the pilots had to manually retrim the aircraft? Do you know how long it takes to go through that process in the manual? Are you aware that in the newer 737s like the NG and max the manual trim wheel is much smaller for to the new central console in the updated cockpit configuration and it takes a lot more turns of the wheel to manually trim?

  26. corbin steele there were plenty of warnings from engineers and they were all accused of scaremongering and ignored by the bean counters. Criminal negligence? Yes. Just as the sane people were guilty of when they did the same thing with the dc10. Why did Boeing say it was perfectly safe and only required an his ipad training after 2 crashes and all of a sudden now we find that there are multiple catastrophic faults and it actually requires simulator training. The board decided to take a chance and roll the dice with people's lives in order to make a quick buck, thinking they could get away with it if anything happened by blaming the pilots. Definitely criminal negligence. If you buy a car and crash it into a wall because the auto pilot steering takes over when it shouldn't and kills all your family, are you telling me that the car company is not criminally negligent for the death of your family?
