  5. PIERRE'S HOLLOW TALKING POINTS federally I think Mad Max is actually what Polllievere talks about but doesn't vote for. As for policies I don't think "stop the gatekeepers" is a policy as I'm sure he's not going to allow mixed social housing to be built next to his house or any of his wealthy donors either. Same with firing bank of Canada, sounds good but the corporations that back him won't accept anything that hurts their bottom line. He'll cut taxes, probably save the middle class about $800-$1000 in taxes but will cut carbon tax rebates so more like a $500 savings while giving corporations millions in tax breaks. Now when you cut revenue it drives up the deficit and destroying the CBC won't save billions in lost tax revenue so he'll have to go after government services and add "service fees" for other government services (exactly what Harper did and PP voted for). As for the Oil industry, he can't force multinational corporations to use Canadian oil as that amounts to nationalization and that's commie talk. But let's pretend that he did, Saudi oil is almost 5 times cheaper to produce a barrel of sweet crude than Canadian oil not to mention we don't have refining capacity so imagine how paying quadruple the price of "Canadian gas" would go over. Pretending he's going to build a pipeline to the east coast (that the multinational companies said wasn't financially viable) may sound good but won't actually happen either. The only thing he's said that appeals to me is how he's going to force the medical profession to accredit immigrants BUT that industry is incredibly powerful and is unlikely to give away their monopoly not to mention most Albertans won't want to see a Bangladeshi Dr. His platform is buzz words and slogans without numbers or anything that is measurable because he knows that people would actually crunch those numbers and tear him to shreds. It's easier to make promises to the base, reassure the wealthy that nothing will change and ride a wave of dissatisfaction with the Liberals to office. Sounds familiar, that's what Trudeau did with Harper.

  12. VOTE 3RD PARTY!!!! The reality is that the duopoly is going to win regardless BUT if a massive voter turnout for 3rd parties occurs it could possibly get 5% for official federal government support and more importantly start to break the back of corporate domination of both parties. Besides, I'm starting to think a second Trump presidency might be in everyone's best interest. If Biden is re-elected everyone gets to go back to brunch and pretend that democracy is ok. A Biden presidency would reward the DNC for being corrupt, breaking all its promises to the Left, kids still in cages, refugees dying at the border, failure on climate, failure on healthcare and continuing to promote the proxy war against Russia. However, if Trump is re-elected everyone will remember that children are still dying in detention, democracy is under direct threat, the world is burning and at least Trump says he would try to end the war in Ukraine (obviously Trump would nuke Ukraine for a nickel but the fact he even suggested peace is better than the DNC's current pro WW3 stance). The reality is that we can boil the climate frog slow or fast but it's going to fry either way. If the fire is stoked it would re-unite the real Left and remind the Corporate Democrats that breaking every promise has consequences or if we are really lucky, public awareness that the duopoly won't save us and force regular people to understand that they're also in the same boiling pot........ The system works. Let's stop supporting it. Dr Cornell West for President (or any 3rd party, just so long as you're not supporting the duopoly). By

  17. Sadly, I don't think Jagmeet is serious about anything other than his fancy suits or Rolex watches, or maybe his mild deference to Israel but from what I can tell so far, his main concern is self-preservation and keeping in the media spotlight (*AND his very important first steps towards Canadian dental and pharmaceutical which I don't want to diminish. I would be doing his legacy a disservice if I didn't acknowledge his important contributions during this extremely difficult political time to accomplish anything) However, I also understand the political realities of the NDP being extremely underfunded and becoming exponentially less popular under Jagmeet's leadership. I hope I'm wrong but there's been some pretty heinous examples of him putting political expedience over genuine democratic social issues (If he's not socialist and or wants the NDP to be a pragmatic pro capitalist party, then I really want that to be specifically laid out?!? Maybe that's already been said, I don't follow it the way I used to, especially after how he threw a couple of his MPs under the bus over support of the UK'S Jeremy Corbyn.) For the record, Corbyn is the best thing we could possibly hope for in this country as an unapologetic pro labour politician. Sadly, he would be a perfect example of what would also happen if we elected a real democratic socialist who refused to back Israel's genocidal slaughter of innocent children or privatization of Canada's resources. They would make sure he was called an anti-semite (& pretty much every single other smear possible) and then slowly but surely destroy his government using people from within his own party who would undermine his mandate & agenda, especially with the help of our corporate media who are more ravenously pro-genocide than even the most brutal xenophobic anti-muslim groups in Canada sadly. Still, Jagmeet would then hopefully be forced out of government and a new leader elected?!?! The sad fact is anyone who's not Jewish (or even if they are Jewish) is going to be falsely accused of anti-Semitism for anything other than slavish devotion to the execution of every last man, woman and child in Palestine. The sad reality is that any visible minority, especially any religious visual minority in Canadian federal politics will be merciously persecuted in our insanely concentrated billionaire owned media regardless of the facts but even more so if they look different than your average Canadian hoser. It's totally unfair but is a very obvious reality and needs to be addressed by any leader of the NDP who wants to lead, not just follow. Not addressing this isn't an option as avoiding it or placating this group, like Jagmeet's done is just a recipe for things getting worse. Jagmeet's obviously an extremely intelligent, sympathetic and amazing addition to the NDP team but cannot be the face of the party moving forward as the majority of Canadians whether we like to admit it or not are racist, xenophobic, a combination of either and or both, or at the very, very, very, very least, are an unconsciously biased against a group of visible minorities who are very recently in the media for having an open war with the government of India (Who are an extremely important trading partner, especially given the USA trade situation as well as massive Canadian community after the Chinese). Reality is that the overwhelming majority of politics is fought on "vibes." How the f*** else would Trudeau have ever been elected PM lol!?!?! Sad but true. This all comes back to some very important realities, do the NDP want to slowly but surely become irrelevant or worse help PP destroy Canadian industries?!? Or does the only labour representative political party in Canada want to take this opportunity not to become the UK's "Tony Blair" of Canadian politics, w/ a watered down socialist agenda that makes the NDP a "liberal light option," as the party drifts into political irrelevance?!?!? Or, much more importantly?!?! Is this the first opportunity in probably a couple of generations to inspire the youth vote & contrast an extremely huge division between a working class vision of Canada's future with all of our resources and our working people's efforts against the duopoly of the Conservatives and Liberals pro USA corporate agenda, who are literally taking corporate money from the exact same mega Canadian corporations (subsidiaries of foreign conglomerates) while rolling over for the Trump administration so that they can continue to make money from the billionaires?!?!? F**** seriously! This may be the last chance we get and I can't help but think drawing these STARK POLITICAL CONTRASTS is THE ONLY WAY to unequivocally champion the real goals of an NDP that honestly believes what can be done for Canadians?!?! All while Singh drives around in his Maserati, picking up his Armani suit, while making sure that it all matches his Rolexes........ I'm actually very sure this is a super unfair characterization of Singh BUT even though this may come as a shock, politics isn't fair. We need a Bernie Sanders, unfortunately Charlie is leaving which is too bad as he's more or less our Bernie Sanders but perhaps if we begged him, he may be convinced to stay?!? Regardless, that's what we need an old school socialist who is going to make sure people understand that voting NDP is an actual choice against the Liberals/Cons, and the over 150 years of corruption they represent. The system works, let's stop supporting it for once!

  19. THE CASE FOR A TRUMP PRESIDENCY: The Democrat's sole purpose is to take energy and resources from the Left. Period. They made that clear with what they did to Bernie Sanders, they would rather Trump than real progress because ultimately the goal is to consolidate money and power into the elites. With that as a guide (let's stop pretending that the DNC hasn't been failing on purpose for 40ish years), the logical conclusion to our future is eventual climate catastrophe that will be the pretext to fascism. When that happens and we don't have a movement (greens) that has been well funded with trained people, they'll round up the political opposition and the new world order will be impossible to fight against (think of the French underground leading up to the Nazi take over but now they have an algorithm that flags the people who are capable of fighting back). Therefore, I'm starting to think a second Trump presidency might be in everyone's best interest. Also, let's say we drag Biden across the line and now he doesn't have to face re-election do people honestly believe he'll go against the donors!?!? Another thing is the fact that if Biden serves a full 8 years it will almost certainly ensure a GOP sweep of all 3 levels of government and this time it won't be a moronic gameshow host but a capable authoritarian who will have unlimited power. I'd rather Trump win and let him grift for another term with divided government than face the prospect of a GOP 2028 sweep after 4 more years of Neoliberal policies under Biden. Let's stop supporting it, vote 3rd party.
