  2. Listening to Trudeau makes my skin crawl, however, I've never been a fan of the conservatives either as I remember the Harper government. They gave some upper class tax cuts for soccer mom's, petty cruelty service cuts to the elderly, disabled and veterans (& of course the usual losers but that just makes them break into my stuff more) So I'm curious as to what you think electing a conservative government will do specifically for Us? As far as I know, everyone making less than $100,000 gets a carbon CHQ (I make over the cutoff so I have never seen a check. I'll actually get a tax break), once the cons are elected people won't get that anymore as the cons have said they're going to end many programs and they're going to slash government spending which generally means that you will be paying more for services while also not receiving the carbon chq anymore either? So just in terms of a day-to-day quality of life situation, what do you actually expect will be the difference? I know Pierre said he'd make it possible to buy a home in Vancouver where I live by "stopping the gatekeepers" which sounds cool of course cuz who doesn't want that but it doesn't actually make any sense as it doesn't say how? I mean do you think Pierre is having homeless veterans put into the house next to his place LOL!? I get hating Trudeau is enjoyable cuz he really sucks bad but I just don't see how the conservatives are any different? Pierre Poillevre was in government for almost 10 years and didn't deal with any of this except deregulation of oil and gas industry that allows the pollution of rivers and lakes which is fine I guess but that's less than 10% of the economy?(*Over 70% of major shareholders in Canada's largest oil companies are foreign so most money leaves Canada) Great for his donors I suppose but even when they did it last time housing still went up almost 50% on his and Harper's watch? Anyways, I'm really hoping I'm missing something because this isn't looking good, feels like we're going from the frying pan and into the fire. Please give me ANYTHING TO HOPE FOR, PLEASE!!!!!!!! Good luck everyone & Thanks!

  10. PIERRE'S HOLLOW TALKING POINTS federally I think Mad Max is actually what Polllievere talks about but doesn't vote for. As for policies I don't think "stop the gatekeepers" is a policy as I'm sure he's not going to allow mixed social housing to be built next to his house or any of his wealthy donors either. Same with firing bank of Canada, sounds good but the corporations that back him won't accept anything that hurts their bottom line. He'll cut taxes, probably save the middle class about $800-$1000 in taxes but will cut carbon tax rebates so more like a $500 savings while giving corporations millions in tax breaks. Now when you cut revenue it drives up the deficit and destroying the CBC won't save billions in lost tax revenue so he'll have to go after government services and add "service fees" for other government services (exactly what Harper did and PP voted for). As for the Oil industry, he can't force multinational corporations to use Canadian oil as that amounts to nationalization and that's commie talk. But let's pretend that he did, Saudi oil is almost 5 times cheaper to produce a barrel of sweet crude than Canadian oil not to mention we don't have refining capacity so imagine how paying quadruple the price of "Canadian gas" would go over. Pretending he's going to build a pipeline to the east coast (that the multinational companies said wasn't financially viable) may sound good but won't actually happen either. The only thing he's said that appeals to me is how he's going to force the medical profession to accredit immigrants BUT that industry is incredibly powerful and is unlikely to give away their monopoly not to mention most Albertans won't want to see a Bangladeshi Dr. His platform is buzz words and slogans without numbers or anything that is measurable because he knows that people would actually crunch those numbers and tear him to shreds. It's easier to make promises to the base, reassure the wealthy that nothing will change and ride a wave of dissatisfaction with the Liberals to office. Sounds familiar, that's what Trudeau did with Harper.

  11. MEMORIES ARE SHORT!!!!! but I remember how the conservatives "balanced the budget" on the backs of the amazing men and women of the Canadian armed services. Maybe they don't think our soldiers deserve to be treated decently but I do. There are other services cuts as well and tax breaks for big business, just google it. Canadian Veterans ABC Campaign 2015 Aug 17, 2015, 08:00 ET OTTAWA, Aug. 17, 2015 /CNW/ - Frustrated by years of cutbacks and lack of support for returning soldiers, Canada's veterans are taking their battle to the political arena. They are calling on Canadians to support veterans by voting against Stephen Harper's Conservative government on Oct 19, 2015. "This is our time to put the terrible treatment of Canada's heroes on the political landscape," said veteran Tom Beaver. "We want every Canadian to know the suffering injured veterans have experienced under Stephen Harper. Our voices must be heard." The veterans are rallying under the banner of Anyone But Conservatives — Canadian Veterans Campaign 2015. This campaign will also feature social media, a web page, billboards and attendance at public meetings to raise veterans' issues. In the past week the campaign reached two million Canadians on Facebook. Despite its rhetoric about supporting our military, the Harper government has consistently taken actions to the detriment of veterans including: Legislated away the right for injured veterans to receive a lifetime pension, substituting a lump sum payment. This leaves many injured veterans in poverty, many with few job prospects; Saved $3.9 million by closing nine Veteran Affairs offices while having the gall to spend $4.5 million for Hockey Night in Canada TV ads to tell Canadians how great a job they are doing to help veterans; Cut the veterans affairs workforce by more than 20 per cent (900 jobs) and clawed back $1.13 billion in unspent funds since 2006. And Pierre Polllievere voted for all of this.
