@jimbob-robob : But, you have noticed that they make a difference, right? You noticed that when Ukraine flew a fleet of drones into Putin’s neighbourhood in Moscow, none of them had warheads on them, because Ukraine doesn’t bomb civilians, right? You noticed that they don’t take criminals and send them to be shot by the enemy, or shot by their own people for retreating, en masse, so as to overwhelm the other side, right? You noticed that civilian men, women and CHILDREN don’t get blown up as they go about their business in Moscow? No Russians are fleeing floods from exploded dams or eco-terrorism, you saw that, right? Ukraine is not murdering their prisoners or executing them on Tik Tok, did you see that?
The Rule Of Law and a Rules Based Society is the reason you can make remarks like yours, however prosaic, platitudinous and empty, without fear of being picked up by secret police in the night and sent to the front lines within 24 hours, or simply being blown apart with your family out of a clear blue sky, because you just happen to be lucky enough to live in a world that values the laws of war!
Just think about that before you decide not to reply or get all defensive, and maybe admit that was a thoughtless, unhelpful remark?

@warriorprincess1846 : Honest, truthful answer? . . .
A free country is being invaded by a dictatorship is what’s happening. Russia wants to establish the old borders of the Iron Curtain days and Putin has been forced to drop the pretence (that no one fell for anyway) that they were in some way a, “democratic,” country since the fall of the Soviet Union, when in fact, all that really happened was a Palace Coup in which the top KGB types had to scrabble for power whilst maintaining the pretence that the country was now free.
Russia has a legitimate concern about the west, assisting former Iron Curtain countries toward democracy, especially if they were to become members of the same security arrangements, but actual invasion of a sovereign country is NOT a legitimate response unless you’re a gangster and dictator. Yes, it would be scary for Russia if Ukraine joined NATO and started housing nukes on the border of Russia, but that would remain an issue between Russia and Ukraine (and the UN or NATO) should that happen. But it’s not going to, nor was it likely. Therefore, this is obviously a pretext for grabbing power.
Take the Cuban Missile Crisis for example. America had the same concerns that Russia does now, to get Russia’s nukes out of the Western Hemisphere and they played hardball over that. But they didn’t INVADE Cuba and take over the country. Just ask yourself, what right does ANY country have to decide how another runs its affairs? If this goes unanswered, what sense does it make to have ANY borders at all? Italy could decide to re establish the Roman Empire with more legitimacy than Putin has to invade Ukraine! Why not have the British Empire back? Russia has NO legitimate excuses for this.
But Putin doesn’t understand grown up stuff, like context, history, truth or justice. He understands power, and who’s holding it. He thinks it’s better to ask forgiveness than permission, and thinks he’ll be in a stronger position once he has control of the Ukraine. It’s up to the rest of the world to make him see why he’s wrong, or we’re all f*cked.
And that’s the honest truth, regardless of what you think of your western government.

@JL.. : Sure, wear a seatbelt all the way. That’s good advice . . . Except for those who need the toilet, have health conditions that preclude being immobile for long periods of time, or those who simply need to cope with their fear of flying by doing something other than sitting in one spot. These people all followed the instructions they were given, according to the report. They had not warned at all. Which is odd, don’t you think? So, can we stop with the victim blaming? It’s not like these massive corporations don’t have lawyers, press agents and bought up politicians for that stuff anyway?
It’s easy to get smug about it, when you weren’t there, and I don’t feel like the, “grow a brain,” comment was warranted at all. You are giving good advice after all. But it is abundantly clear from the coverage that the passengers were in no way at fault here.
Either the warning systems failed, the pilot didn’t notice the warnings (or didn’t respond appropriately) or it was a freak weather event that no one could have predicted. But that last one, at that scale, is in a very distant last place. Experienced flyers will all tell you, the pilot will usually warn passengers about turbulence in advance, and everyone will buckle up.

If it comes to a choice between living as a slave, grovelling on your knees, or dying whilst standing bravely on your feet, which would you choose? That is the only choice that both China and Russia are conspiring to offer the rest of the globe. Between them, the occupation of Taiwan and Ukraine would effectively mean a global technology monopoly that would be impossible to compete with. If they succeed, the rest of the world would enter a new dark age, while Russia and China not only thrive, but have the power to force us to trade away all of our freedoms just to prevent mass starvation and technological annihilation.
Personally, I would much rather die a man, on my feet, fighting for the freedom to live free than be enslaved to a psychotic, juvenile gangster like Putin, or an indoctrinated terrorcrat like Xi.

Either she’s lying, or mistaken, or something more sinister occurred? If she’s telling the truth, did someone switch the shells? It sounds more like an episode of Columbo when you think of it like that, but it’s a pretty lame assertion if you claim you checked and the. Someone gets shot with a real bullet? So, the cops will be giving the Armourer the opportunity to recant her story. If she sticks to it, putting herself under suspicion, they will have to start looking into people’s backgrounds to see if anyone might have had a motive to kill this poor woman? And if they had access and opportunity?
I’m saying all this, but as usual, it will probably just turn out to be a series of errors, committed by several people, leading to an avoidable tragedy, that no one wants to take the blame for. I hope they can clear it up quickly, for the sake of all involved. And for the sake of finishing the movie. That’s not a callous remark. I just know that a whole bunch of people’s livelihoods tend to depend upon completing their contracts, and everyone from the caterers to the sound engineers up to the producers and the stars will all have time and money invested in the project. For some of them, the ones lower down the pecking order, it makes the difference between eating or not.
But if the armourer is telling the truth, we may have a murderer among these people?
