  1. Brian's actually crossed a line in this and a very dangerous one - and he should know better. If you are going to be a media commentator then you have to have some disconnection or you are just another propaganda outlet. If you think through this then its actually not a good thing. Notifying people of this fund is one thing. Promoting or supporting it is very close to the edge of being propaganda. BUT setting it up when you are a media outlet/producer is over the line. His hearts in the right place and getting rid of McConnell is a good thing for America and Western Democracy in general. There are other people in other countries doing the same (or similar) thing McConnell does. Getting rid of these people is good for the world, but its no good getting rid of them in a way that ends up helping the next McConnell get elected. Just think how many times Trump screamed about biased media and his base lapped it up.

  3. For the nation that spent the last 70+ years calling itself the "champions of democracy" and POTTUS "leader of the free world" its certainly looks incredibly stupid. I'm Australian but went to college in America on a sports scholarship and its so sad to watch America do this to itself. In a way I am not surprised as I saw the foundation of this being laid in the 80s with Reaganism and Televangelism going unchecked. Right now in Australia this scares us, because America is our most important trading partner and most important security partner. That goes for other nations as well. Because of Trump's trade war we are in a conflict with China right now. A malfunctioning America is not in our best interests or Canada's or Mexico's or Europe's or Britain's or Japan's or a lot of others best interests - except for maybe Russia, North Korea and a couple of others. As an Australian its shameful that another Australian (Rupert Murdoch) is right in the middle of this reeking havoc. Every nation has its handful of people you wished had never existed - Rupert's one of ours. I wish I could say more than sorry for what he does.

Australia has 908 COVID fatalities while Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana have over 28,000 (and counting). Australia has just over 1,400 active cases while Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana have over 520,000 active cases as winter sets in. Especially when "we the people" elect them knowing that at least in part they lied to us or at least made promises they can't keep and "we the people" accepted it. BUT once they take office and swear an oath they have to accept they are accountable. The real issue right now is not that these politicians lied, its that they lied to such an extent that very bad things happened. They need to be HELD ACCOUNTABLE for taking it TOO FAR. Think about a football game. Players commit fouls and most are benign and a yardage penalty is sufficient. But then you get idiots who target other players and do things so grievous that they get ejected. These politicians have likewise done things that are so grievous they also need to be "ejected."

The best so far on Flynn was a retired Colonel who on MSNBC confirmed Flynn can be recalled to active duty and then court martialed. Sure its annoying, but so long as they DON'T actively set up things like this they can at least claim they have some level of impartiality or integrity. This is the great claim FOR & AGAINST Fox. They claim to be "Fair & Honest" and to their supporters they are, but anybody with brain function who KNOWS how Rupert Murdoch operates KNOWS they are NOT fair or honest. One of the things Murdoch and his minions are incredibly good at is dragging opponents down to their level and using it against them. He could have done as they did with Clinton. Yes you Mr. President you did as you are accused but we consider it a mistake rather than a deliberate act and will allow you to stay as President. They never said it openly to Clinton but the message was clear - "Behave or we will throw your ass out." And that's McConnell's true failure - NOT putting a leash and muzzle on Trump and look at what has now happened.

As such the PM can be dumped from that position at almost anytime. As a trading and security partner Australia is similar to a few other countries like Canada, Mexico, Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines,.... etc. I was actually in Canada for work when Trump tore up NAFTA and saw their reaction (not pretty). The one I think that has held was the one where the officials could not extend the deadline for confirming identifications ad they had to keep to what was in the statutes. I did not matter because Biden still won Penn by over 81,000 and it only affected a few hundred votes. Then there's the billionaire who owns OAN, Robert Herring who is certifiably nutts, driving it as well. But adding to the Republican shift is the fuindmentalist Christians. We found out about this in Australia a couple of years back when some fundamentalists started using illegal means to take over parts of out right wing parties. An American training video surfaced. Where it came from and when it was made no one has really said. We know its American from the accents and think it was made in the 80s. Its basically about how to take over a party from the grass roots by taking over small local offices and taking over small local elected positions like mayor, DA, sheriff, school boards,.... etc. The aim it eventually to have a base you can move onto controlling state legislatures and then federal nominations. That's how Sarah Palin was forced on John McCain. That's how people like Pence and Pompeo got where they got. Then there is the centrist position of the Dems that's so broad that the only policy options for the Republicans is on the far right. No one should be surprised where the Republicans are. What everyone should be asking is how to you get them out of it? Because right now there are over 50million well armed (stocked with tons of ammunition) radicalized people who think they just had their country stolen.   44.  @specter0023  The truly crazy point about America is that it actually has an incredible history in higher education. I went to U. of Illinois in the late 80s. When I got back to Australia we were just getting the nations first supercomputer. It was a baby Cray (one of the small ones). At the same time Illinois was installing its 3rd and they were all big ones. It was like Australia had a Japanese 4 cylinder and Illinois had 3 stonking V8s. Meanwhile a couple of grads from about that time developed a program called Mosaic. They ended up founding Netscape and sold it to Bill Gates for a gazillion or 2. I've been in the American system and seen just how good it can be. We all hear about America's wealth disparity but there is also an education disparity as well. The most bizarre thing is that if you took away 1% of the military spending and spent that on giving everyone a fair and decent education you'd boost America so far the rest of the world would be left behind. And I don't mean just the universities and high schools but also the junior colleges and vocational colleges. Go listen to Andrew Yang on that subject he actually knows what he is talking about. You can't have high tech manufacturing with out the skilled personnel. We've done similar in Australia with failing to train people in those areas and it effing aggravates me. I'm an engineer and you can't get stuff made without the skilled technicians. You can't maintain stuff either. America needs Biden to make Yang the next education secretary.
