It was being reported days ago that it was $207million. I think we can assume its even higher than that now. I'm not a lawyer but I keep hearing that she's violating the Hatch Act by also being an advisor to Trumps Campaign. If she's been receiving money from the campaign that's been raised by these false claims then that's money obtained through fraudulent statements and I think that's a crime????
7
The really odd thing is - where did they come from? For at least 2 years prior EVERY POLL said Trumps base was shrinking. Even FOX did polls that said he was losing people. Maybe not by much but it was never growing - according to the polls. So where did those extra 11 million votes come from. Maybe the reason Trump is adamant that fraud happened was that he cheated, just like in everything else he does in life, and somehow he still lost?
7
@matthewroy7718 As an Australian let me say (yet again) we tried warning you what Rupert was like just like we tried warning the Brits what he was like. BOTH of you ignored the warnings.
7
@gracieb.3054 Don't thank me thank the people who put stuff on Wikipedia with all the references.
7
Just a question to you Americans -> Do you realise this isn't just a threat to American democracy its a threat to Western Society? FYI - I'm Australian but went to college in America. I love America and its people and totally hate what Trumpism has done to a fabulous country. However do you know we have similar issues here. We have billionaire named Clive Palmer who has his own party. He's our version Trump. His chief mutt, a total clown, named Craig Kelly is as bad as any of these GOP Trumpists like Green, Boebert, Cawthorn or Gosar. Go look anywhere in Europe and you find them there as well. Do any of you realise that Steve Bannon went round the world preaching his "Hyper Libertarian Revolution" and that he found supporters EVERYWHERE? Do any of you realise that whenever people like Bolsonaro in Brazil get asked questions they don't like they just howl back "Fake News"? Do any of you realise that the anti-vaxxer, conspiracy, antigovernmental, religious fundamentalists types are teaming up around the world? I'm interested in knowing if you guys realise that Trumpism is no longer an American issue?

I'm an ex-swimmer and I agree. I just can't see how in a power orientated sport like swimming how you can never claim its fair. because there will always be doubt. The same would go for track & field, track-cycling and other sports where power and muscle mass go together. As for team sports I am way more open minded especially where those sports require significant teamwork and power is less of a factor. Sports like field hockey and soccer and possibly water polo where agility is far more important than power I'd have no problems with but a sport like rugby I'd have some reservations. FYI - I played a lot of water polo and also 3 seasons of rugby in high school. On the political side this its just as you describe a pack of clowns using this to hide their bigotry. For them to be so occupied by such a small percentage of society shows just hoe little they have to offer the rest of society and some of the bigger issues like climate change, housing, wages and the economy in general.
7
@buttkid3548 Are you referring to the bit where I said David gets some things wrong but never pushes false narratives? SO WHAT - I don't expect perfection because that's idiotic. But I do EXPECT people in the media to try have some integrity and most of all NOT PUSH FALSE NARRATIVES or PRESENT PROPAGANDA as this caller is claiming that he does. Sorry if you missed that point.
7
@notyourroad Buddy I doubt any of his people know the meaning of any word ending in "ism"
7
@cindyabraham5503 I'm listening right now to David's vid on Trump turning on Kellyanne Conway.
7
Its American Right Wing Libertarianism logic at its finest. "We demand the liberty to strip you of your liberty!" "We want small government with no regulations on us, so that we can force our regulations on everyone else."
7
This is just one of several great comments on how ridiculously wrapped up in his own celebrity Bill Maher is. He's now a character of the type he so often rails at. Maybe there should be a "New Rule" that says "Members of the general should be allowed to b*tch clap any celebrity who thinks their opinion based on NOTHING but their celebrity is more important than actual facts."
7
YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. I am an engineer, I work in control systems and this is my main beef with the pro-AI crowd. What most people do NOT understand is that AI is a fallacy. There is no logical explanation for what intelligence actually is and by logical we can't write out a general algorithm or set of formulas for what intelligence is. What we have algorithms that mimic specific human tasks that are basically repetitive. These claims that they learn are simply garbage. As an engineer its actually infuriating to watch people shamelessly promote imaginary technologies that don't exist or don't work and will never deliver as promised. Yeah we get called boring because we can actually use basic math for real world problems. The best PR & BS I have seen recently is Elon Musk's Starship, which he claims can take 100 people at a time to Mars. Problem is that NASA has already worked out the minimum volume needed in a space craft per person for that kind of travel. When the simple arithmetic is done Starship has barely enough space for 17 people not 100. It really would be a sardine can in space AND YET 1000s of people still believe Elon is going to whisk them off to Mars. The volume of techno PR garbage these days is staggering and yet so many people just suck it up as if its gospel fact.

I'm Australian and I can explain why not only Australia but pretty much any other country on the planet has could have a reason to pull the trigger (see below). What Tucker wants to be very careful off is who else other people might want to be rid of. Here's why almost every other country MIGHT pull the trigger on Trump and sorry if it takes some explaining. Back in 1944 there was the Breton Woods agreement where (among other things) the US Dollar became the worlds RESERVE CURRENCY. Despite all that's happened that has NOT changed and no matter what the BRICS countries for Crypto clowns claim its not going to change because there is simply too much US Currency out there in the wider world to deal with. For instance in December 2022 the Bank of International Settlements reported and alarming concern with FX Swaps (Foreign Exchange Swaps). The BIS is an institution few people know about because its NOT a normal bank. Its where all of our central banks go and settle all the foreign money they have. Whenever you buy something that was made in another country or visit another country then at some point money moved and currency exchanges happened. In the end our central banks collect that stuff and then settle it and they do that through the BIS. FX-swaps are a tool businesses that trade internationally use and in many cases they simply stockpile cash in hope the as the currencies shift they'll make money. What the BIS have reported in December 2022 is that there's now $100 Trillion in FX-swaps out in the worlds financial market place and most of it is being held by non-banking entities (as in other business entities). ALSO most of the worlds FX-swaps involve US$ either outright or as part of the mechanism because its the World's Reserve Currency. So if Donald Trump keeps playing idiotic games with it the value of the US$ then he puts the entire world economy at risk and that really does mean everyone - even the Russians, Chinese and North Koreans stand to lose and lose huge of the US$ goes of the rails. Sorry but NOBODY, not anyone of the 8 Billion people on this planet can afford to have the US$ go off the rails and right now the biggest threat to that is Donald J Trump and his clown brigade.
7
That's a great point and I saw another example of that sort of thing yesterday. British commentator Konstantin Kisin gave this 15minute speal on why "Communism is worse than Fascism"_ and there wasn't a single thing he said that wasn't true BUT what made it a vile piece was that it put forward the notion that "Our cruelty isn't as bad as their cruelty" which is exactly the type of case Denis Prager is making. Its also the same type of argument that Prager's now infamous cartoon claiming slavery was better than being killed that Ron DeSanctimonious has endorsed for Florida schools.
7
And also I don't know why he left out Krystal Ball and Brian Tyler Cohen.
7
The same way that people in Jonestown kept drinking the Kool Aid despite the bodies piling up around them - PEER PRESSURE Whether its actual pressure being applied by some people onto others to conform to the group or perceived pressure from people wanting to stay with the group it has the same effect. Its mob psychology 101 and its damn hard to go against the voice and will of the mob.
7
She lied in the first few words - "Independent Audit." Its hasn't been independent from the start. Its been done by far right radicals lead by people who have never done this kind of work before and using untrained people with unverified techniques. In what way do any of these people actually think this will stand up in any court?????
7
Absolutely true but he also understands his audience and what they react to and respond to and get motivated by. BUT Don't forget his vote numbers WENT UP. He got 74,223,744 up from the 62,984,828. ALL the polls said his base was shrinking so where did those extra 11million come from? When he acts the way he does how the F--K did that happen? Why did 74,223,744 turn up and vote for this clown? The DNC are also living in a state of denial. They lost House seats, they didn't (yet) get control of the Senate and lost in state legislatures. Biden's biggest task by far is answering these questions and finding solutions. SO far Biden's hiring of 2 Goldman Sachs and a McKinsey (as recently reported) don't fill me with confidence.
7
@cynthiaswingle5134 Yeah it came up when some of the folders they first found were empty. And then the problem became what what's missing. And that's when a few people with intel backgrounds explained how this stuff works. They don't have info floating about like "File X has A, B, C, in it" because that tells anyone interested what File X contains. It also tells anyone interested that on subject X they at least have some details on A, B ,C and not on D, E, F. That in itself is information you might not want other people knowing about. This is why keeping this stuff in secure locations is so important and why there's such strict rules on HANDLING classified materials. It might take many months to work out what's missing and then take even longer to find out who's got it and even longer still to work out the implications. How Trump and his staff are yet to be charged over this stuff is barely comprehensible?
7
@LG-dj9qr Thanks. The worst part of social media are the idiots who think they can just make crap up. Its what's farking up so much of public discourse these days. Nobody can have a sensible discussion on anything without some moron spouting stupidity. Worse are the ones that take over any reasonable conversation and turn it into a shite fest. The right to free speech is a gift that few previous generations were ever granted. Its something that needs protecting from those who would take it away and equally from those who would waste it.
6
@Nope2022HugeTheWarningFan Mostly fair claims in your reply to Devonic, except the bit of voting for Trump. Remember that Dems threw a massive guilt trip at progressives and Bernie supporters after treating them like shit. They didn't like Biden and especially didn't like his hacks BUT they still voted for him over Trump. Has this guy got his flaws? Absolutely, but he was absolutely right about America being addicted to 10 second sound bites. And that's far from being an American issue that problem has infected the entire Western World. At least everybody should take the positive that this an elected Republican who's only going to get even more flak for simply admitting Trump lost. And considering how some of the Trumpsters are threatening people that's deserves at least some respect.
6
I'm Australian and I have know a lot of South Africans, in fact in Perth Western Australia (where I lived for 7 years) there's a whole section that's jokingly referred to as Little Jo-berg. I worked with quite a few in the mining industry and in general I would describe them as pragmatic. A few were pains in the ass, but so what, every tribe has them. BUT none of them ever behaved like this. There must be a version they never exported to Australia.
6
As another Australian - YEAH. But then we may have overspent some of the dumb myths Americans think. Stuff like riding Kangaroos the same as Luke Skywalker rode his tauntaun in "The Empire Strike Back" Maybe we need to start a rumour that Joe Rogan is actually Ronald Reagan's brain in a new body or something just as stupid.
6
I can see the day when someone is going to lash out in a very ugly way at one of these people. All they do is provoke others. They're like that annoying brat in grade school who niggles people. Sooner or later someone loses their cool and belts them. When it happens watch them squeal.
6
@tsunamis82 I believe the correct term is "narcissistic sociopath," but I only did psych 101 and others might be able to better clarify that. From www.mayoclinic.org Narcissistic personality disorder — one of several types of personality disorders — is a mental condition in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, troubled relationships, and a lack of empathy for others. Antisocial personality disorder, sometimes called sociopathy, is a mental disorder in which a person consistently shows no regard for right and wrong and ignores the rights and feelings of others. People with antisocial personality disorder tend to antagonize, manipulate or treat others harshly or with callous indifference. They show no guilt or remorse for their behavior.
6
@peter the first thing we need to teach EVERYONE about critical thinking is that it is NOT about criticizing or deciding importance. Its about critiquing as in analyzing, evaluating and reasoning. That's probably the single biggest misnomer I see in the discussion - people NOT understanding what critical thinking means let alone how to do it.
6
Shutting them down is nice and would stop these clowns spewing garbage but it would only drive Trumps base to worse behavior. Its like dealing with a symptom and ignoring the disease. These people need to be confronted with INDISPUTABLE FACTS. They need to be pounded with them until the bubble bursts and reality hits. Its the same with people in any cult you have to keep pushing truth until it breaks through.
6
Anybody who doubts the CTE issue should watch the PBS Frontline documentary "League of Denial" about the issues NFL players have had. In particular it shows several interviews with players before and after the degradation. Go and watch Herschel's past interviews. I saw one from 6-7 years ago on a sports show and the difference in his responses in terms of clarity of thought are significant. He is not a well person and should be in the care of medical professionals who know what they are doing. The people around him supporting this nonsense are of the most despicable kind. Those people need to be outed and confronted about this mess.
6
I think the other line about this is: "The village idiot used to be confined to their village. Now thanks to social media they have been able to share their stupidity across the world."
6
That seems to have been downplayed. I have watched 3 members of my immediate family die form cancer. The chemo weakens their immune system and in some cases smashes it. At one point we had to limit how many people could see my mother, because of the risk of an infection. Anybody who has witnessed cancer and seen what happens knows this. If the anti-vaxxers jump on this then their shame really has no limit.
6
Of course Sean thinks Herschel was a great candidate. As far as Sean and the GOP are concerned they don't want senators who can think for themselves and lets face the fact when it comes to thinking capability Herschel is the perfect GOP candidate for them.
6
And by the way the whole world has watched clown after clown start their campaigns. Mike Pence finally told the truth after 3 years and got a cheer so lame you'd think he farted instead. For what Chris Christie said about Trump we don't know if he's a Dem, a GOP candidate or contestant on a new reality show called "America's Next Sumo." And they are the 2 least ridiculous so far. I bet the script writers for SNL are going nuts just trying to find something they can spoof that isn't already so ridiculous that a spoof would seem reasonable.
6
Advertisers are always saying there's no such thing as bad publicity.
6
@darthwiizius There's rumors an inland taipan, (the worlds most poisonous land snake by toxicity) bit him once. Sadly the snake had to be put down under the advice of a vet. The next day one of the snakes cousins a coastal taipan (considered one of the worlds most dangerous because of its aggressiveness) took a go at him. Sadly it also had to be put down under the advice of a vet. The task was then offered to a blue ringed octopus, a stone fish and a box jelly fish. They all declined. What isn't a rumor is that we tried to warn the Brits hen he moved there and they didn't listen. We then warned the American when he moved there and they didn't listen either. Finally: There is NO TRUTH to the rumor that when Elon Musk suggested he'd do a lottery for the first crew to Mars more than 3,200,000 Australians bought tickets and all of them signed their name "Rupert Murdoch." We tried but the internet crashed from the surge.

I'm Australian but went to college there. Its been that way for generations. It mostly happens to be in the way they were taught history. In Australia at high school I did Egyptian, Sumerian, Greek, Roman, 2000 years of British History and eventually Australian history. Some might consider that narrow but what it gave me was a TIMELINE to this point in history where we live. I studied Orwell (Animal Farm and 1984) as well as Camus (the Plague). I even did All Quiet on the Western Front which was WW1 from the German perspective. I hated it at the time but now am grateful. Americans never got those perspectives and even our kids no longer get that type of history or perspective. Both my parents were high school teachers and I have friends who are current high school teachers. Those friends told me about 15 years ago there was a change and instead of history high school students would do "case studies." My parents and my friends all thought was insane because kids would have NO TIMELINE to frame things in. I'm Gen-X and I'm fed up with millennials who think they invented the Internet and are therefore smarter than everyone. When I was in college no American seemed capable to discuss anything that happened before the Pilgrims landed (1620) except for Jesus and Adam. Australia seems to be going in the same direction with the same results.
6
Not quite Michael Corleone actually had brain function.
6
It's actually a very smart way to do politics. Prof Mark Blyth explained this back in July 2019 as the DNC campaigns were going on. He explained during a Q&A after a lecture on global Trumpism in a reply to a question on Elizabeth Warren. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGuaoARJYU0&t=4794s NEVER FORGET most people aren't interested in details or understanding. They want TO BE TOLD a simple answer and then fill in their own details.
6
@jimohara I call the 2 American sides Carbon Versus Silicon because if you have a look at it there's a lot of Carbon orientated billionaires (oil, gas & coal) on one side and a lot of Silicon orientated billionaires (computer tech) on the other. Its not strictly true but its as good of a divide as any. Probably the biggest thing Americas MUST LEARN they do not have Left and Right Parties they have Right and Far Right compared to anywhere else in the Western World.
6
Yes there have been many people call for that and its about time they pulled the pin and threw that hand grenade. A lot of the people who have called for it are military or ex-military. A which back it was pointed out how he had spent a career in the intelligence & counter intelligence environment where all the normally accepted behaviors don't exist. Essentially Michael Flynn has spent decades involved in the business of lying and misinformation. Scary is that his BROTHER Charles Flynn is not only still in the military but also very high up. He's the commanding general of United States Army Pacific. AND ALSO mentioned when talking about Christian Nationalists in the US Military. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXb5IJiEeIE
6
I half agree, because its a matter of why. If it gets to the point of simply entertaining then NO, because at that point David just becomes like so many others except he's on the left. If he sticks to the "lets try and understand" then I'm 101% for it, because if you don't ever try and understand the problem you cant ever solve the problem.
6
Well to be 100% honest if we wanted to hear from an expert about the media and politics and spinning false narratives then who else knows more about how its done that Meatball Ron De Sanctimonious???????
6
@kamion53 Actually somebody pointed out during her press conferences that she was once (past tense) a really good lawyer. It doesn't forgive what she's done but it maybe highlights how far she really has fallen. If she was always crap its not much of a fall, but if she WAS good once then this is a massive fall. Maybe next she'll claim she was a victim of Trumpism 🤷♂️🤷♀️
6
“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'” - Isaac Asimov
6
There are a staggering number of the rich & wealthy elite who should be in prison. Trump was right when he said he could shoot someone in the street and get away with it. The elite can get away with it.
6
"Good Candidate" and "Electable Candidate" are NOT the same thing. For Sean Hannity and the GOP they don't want Senators capable of thinking for themselves and to that Herschel was a "Good Candidate" he just wasn't an "Electable Candidate."
6
I'm an engineer and the amount of media opinion on engineering subjects that's devoid of facts and/or reality that I see is incredible. I could make it a full time job (if somebody would pay me) correcting bad information. I would expect that other people from other professions would say similar. The Internet age was announced as the "Information Age" but I think it'll be remembered it as the "Misinformation Age" if we find a way to survive it.
6
Yeah but should it be called Death by Stupid or Death by Stupidity. After all Misadventure is a noun in that it names the action the same as stupidity names the action rather than stupid which is an adjective which is descriptive of the action. And do we need to add qualifiers like. Death by Self Inflicted Stupidity Death by Voluntary Stupidity Death by Willful Stupidity Death by Mindless Stupidity Or maybe we need to consider other words that might better describe this. Death by Ignorance Death by Dumbness Death by Mental Illness After all it is important we get legal definitions right. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
6
We can all say whatever we like about this stuff but 1 ugly truth remains - Trumps hardcore base don't care because they believe whatever Trump says. Every answer Trump gave they accept as FACT. Its sad thing to say, BUT until America is willing to deal with what drove 74 million people to discard reality and vote for Trump NOTHING WILL BE FIXED.
6
Really I though it was constipation? Either way there's a doctor right there to look at it.
6
I can see the point where somebody just belts the living hell out of him (and a few others) in the street. It will be one of those things nobody will openly condone but we'll all understand WHY. This endless lying and provoking by these people will eventually go past someone's limit.
