However, the trouble with that is that a lot of the existing concessions won for the people from the rich & powerful took several hundred years to accumulate. Believe me, once they're gone only action just short of revolution will bring them back, & it'll take decades, if ever. As it is , the 1970's are starting to look like the Golden Age of the working man.

  9. @steviewonder417 - In the UK, because we once did have a Socialist government for a few short years(which gave us universal healthcare & a host of other good things) there's the knowledge that it really is possible. Last time it took a major depression followed by a world war. I fear it will never happen in the US. I agree with you that left/right in the US context is meaningless & that both sides are equally corrupt. However, the GOP seem batshit insane to boot.

  31. 3 cheers to that, mate. You don't see the harm from alcohol until you're older. When you're young it hasn't had time to fuck you up & you're full of youth, the best drug there is. Alcohol is physically addictive just like tranquillisers (e.g. Xanax). I know people who get woken up every morning by alcohol withdrawal, "rattling" as they call it. Long-term drinking is can cause very serious health issues, & cause mental illness, no matter if you were fine to begin with. .

  35. Time for a massive birth control programme utilising all methods & removal of all non-medical restrictions on abortion. Sterilisation for all that want it. This should apply the whole world over, be mandated by the UN. I'm sure there are many countries where they're crying out for birth control & condoms to prevent disease.   40. I thought the Young Turks were cleverer than that. These stories are just the same as every story told about psychedelics & stimulants for the last 50 years. Now, its true that a lot of drugs can be dangerous if taken to excess& also that buying street drugs you need to trust your supplier. But there are tens of millions of doses of these sorts of drugs taken every day with less harm than alcohol which is physically addictive like heroin or tranquilisers eg Xanax.
