***** Initiating wars of aggression is a war crime. The Iraq war was obscene.

I don't think "Cold turkey" is an appropriate phrase to use as it specifically refers to opiate addiction. Physical addiction is not just a rebound effect, it requires actual physical changes in the brain & CNS which will not "subside after a couple of days"
1
KushPlants I don't agree with Wikipedia. Cold turkey aka "clucking" refers to the gooseflesh on your skin caused by opiate withdrawal, because you feel extremely cold among other symptoms. Applying it to other drugs is a misnomer because they don't cause those particular physical symptoms, and its usage in any other sense is meaningless.

Surely it all depends on the prices people pay for goods & whether they rise with the minimum wage - if you work full time you obviously should not be living in poverty & claiming welfare benefits, visiting food banks etc. That is the main point to raising the minimum wage - rebalancing the economy. A race to the bottom is not the way to achieve economic growth, is it?
1
Joseph F "A race to the bottom" is what has been happening to create the current situation. Yes its true if you raise the minimum wage to a level where people are being paid more than they're worth, that is unsustainable, however, no-one is suggesting that. By working full time, I am referring to jobs with large corps who could pay enough to keep their workers out of food banks & off welfare. Tax money & charity should not be there to enable large businesses to subsidise their wage bill. You are making the typical mistake by taking the idea to extremes. There is an ideal figure for minimum wage which would work for both employers & employed & the current amount is well short of that. Business leaders in the UK claimed there would be huge job losses as a result of even having a minimum wage & it would cost billions. It didn't. They were either wrong, which is unlikely or they were lying, which is far more likely, wouldn't you say?
1
Yes, this has always amazed me. The Janis Joplin example is particularly egregious. You can bet Pepsi didn't play the "Hear him whip the women just around midnight" line

Labour* The whigs and the Liberals used to run tings, they're nowhere now. The Tories too shall pass. The only way to win in the UK is to capture the centre ground. The Tories are left-wing by US standards because they too support public healthcare free at the point of use, because if they don't they'd be toast
1
Unfortunately Obama is another Tony Blair type - very charming, seems progressive/left wing, but in reality just a manager, in thrall to corporations & afraid of the right-wing media
1
Reversed in the sense of how? You think you are correct but you aren't understanding it. "reversed and mirrored" doesn't make any sense
1
I doubt it. Blair helped invade Iraq in 2003 and still lasted until 2010. If the US created crash hadn't happened they still be in power. When the far-right were on the rise in 1930s Europe in the UK the Blackshirts were an ostracised hated minority. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Cable_Street
1
Neither is good. Wouldn't you rather be regarded like you were immediately after WW2? I think most of the world would prefer a "joke" to "most feared". I cannot stand Trump, but his reluctance to get involved in foreign wars was the best thing about his presidency, and perhaps one that future presidents could emulate. No-one made you World cop, man, and we all know what assholes US cops often are
1
They are by US standards surely. e.g. the Dems do not support public healthcare for all
1
@tomtheeagle1 I am no apologist for New Labour by far. But I genuinely doubt that employing the private sector is not the same as giving it to the private sector. Most of the functions of local government have been outsourced eg refuse collection, but we still get our rubbish collected without having to directly pay the businesses who do it on an individual level. The "slippery slope" argument is fallacious and usually employed by the right.
1
I don't like Zionists because they're like Israeli Nazis. Fascists are c*nts whether they're Nazis or Zionists. I really do not believe that Gandhi was pro-Nazi. If he was then he was a scumbag. Nationalists are scumbags geddit?
1
@dontcenscorme5447 Hitler was a methhead wanker sorry and all that mate
1
@dontcenscorme5447 haha I'm alive now. when I'm dead who gaf man
1
@dontcenscorme5447 I am 60 and I see the human species as a higher order version of ants scrabbling around. There's no "white" species you dickhead. Wake up and smell the science you medieval essentialist twat
1
No, because they need their employees to make money. No business owner emplys more people that they have to. The last thing they want to do is lose skilled employees that they've invested money & time in.
1
You're a funny guy. I can see you're frightened & angry, but your real enemies are not who you think they are. Ever heard the phrase "Divide and rule"?
1
He is dangerous. If he runs for Pres, Trump will win or worse
1
I refer you to the Anti-Nowhere League's song "So What". I think it says it all about this sort of thing.
1
Why? The Italians aren't even descended from the Romans - they probably wish they were, though
1
@willgee7777 I just think he's funny, like he's a comedian doing a bit. How is it BS psychology to laugh at someone?
1
In what sense are Labour "more right-wing" ? Can you explain in what way? It was a landslide because the Tories lost so badly, because they were total rubbish
1
You "speak about" something someone said. You "speak to" a person.
1
Is this comment a joke? Mate, you sound like someone from the 70s, "champagne socialist" lol. Your comment makes no sense. Are you a Muslim? if not why do you care if Cenk was once? I'm not in the US and it seems to me TYT often criticises the Democrats as well as the GOP. Of course he's on the left, but only just. He's a Social Democrat. Are people not allowed to emigrate to America and become who they want to be? I'd have thought an American would want to leave all that old world stuff behind. Aren't all Americans the same people like the British? It matters not where someone's ancestors come from you filthy racist
1
Yes whatever party they are, one must be democratic.
1
But covered in what? Of course, just being a veggie might not help, if the meat eaters & the biofuel growers(an even bigger threat) use too much land. Its certainly not a natural diet though, if you eat more meat than anything. In the past, only the very rich ate a lot of meat. The poor ate as much meat as they could get, which was very little, if any - consequently they evolved most of the best recipes in the world, to maximise taste & nutrition.
1
You OK hun?
1
@lukeyznaga7627 where are you man? I am in the UK

Siktir Git = "Let them fuck you and go" apparently. Which made me laugh.

little good-quality quantitative research has been done to support or undermine the theory of intersectionality
1
They're saying it because of devolution
1
@slanderman3296 Cool story bro
1
There is NO guarantee of free speech in the UK. There is NO written constitution or Bill of Rights. There is the Human Rights Act which is based on the European court's rules, but even that is too much freedom for a lot of right-wingers here in the UK.

What a Koch-sucker
1
Why bother with the 0.3? SI units should be mandatory for cock size. The correct unit is the metre.
1
@slivenne No.
1
Might be a very entertaining myth - don't think there's any actual evidence for that, just a lot of stories. William Burroughs claimed to know a junkie that conned doctors for junk with a candiru story -The Sailor" "like fire through the blood, doctor & coming on now!" & he went into his white hot agony act chasing the doc round his office like a blowtorch. Never failed but it burned down the croakers"

From each according to their abilities, to each according to their need.
1
Not from Butter Chicken, it's really mildly spiced. Indian cuisine is very complex just like European cuisine.
1
@ravenswood118 I fear there are many on the right AND left who are part of the "footballization of politics" and just support one team or the other. Like people who vote for the same party as their parents do, not because they have thought about their politics Also there's always a proportion of randos commenting on any video.

What? The South London Press, or do you mean the BBC South-East news?
