Or Earthquakes. It can't be easy or safe going down those tight narrow spiral stairs when in a hurry.

Brutalism was mostly the best image when talking about socialism and communism, and as such you would see such architecture in countries that had socialist or communist movements. Japan spearheaded metabolism during the time its economy was at its peak.
1
@opart Not necessarily. Metabolism is orderly in compressed space, like a bee hive, Brutalism can sometimes achieve this but what sets it apart is less inorganic sharp angles and visual appearance. Despite the contrasts, both styles complement each other and take from each others core elements. Brutalism had international spread, while Metabolism was primarily a Japanese architectual movement. There were plans in Yugoslavia to design entire parts of Skoplje in Metabolism-Brutalism architecture mix during the 60s, but that sadly never happened to its full extent.

Brutalism architecture can be quite beautiful in the hands of a proper architect and engineer team. Japan is not known for beautiful brutalist buildings, it has however metabolism as a good subsitute.

Think more places need less of "in-your-face" advertisements, maybe not to the extreme that Kyoto does (where you barely or dont see the businesses at all), but certainly not the eye sore that Tokyo does (flashing bright lights are an epileptics worse nightmare). A middle ground is needed.

So how do they deal with old scooter batteries that are no longer able for use? How well do they recycle the battery material and is the eco cost of recycling lower than with gas versions?

@thomasreese2816 I dont see any canopies at those charging stations that are not slap next to a building.

Then the steam would just get out from the bento box and water will drip down.

That's the neat thing, you don't. These are too small for any real furniture, even if you moved it disassembled Ikea style.

@LifeWhereImFrom I just wonder what kind of furniture would fit in these apartments? Seems like most are already refurbished to maximum space, besides general stuff like devices and clothing racks.
1
Most people here are just positive about it cause it looks like a theme park novelty and because it's Japan, good for a wacky video. I doubt they would last long living in such tight spaces. It would actively triggers some form of claustrophobia.

@mindstalk I rather they put a small green space than an attempt at tight urban planning putting people in spaces like sardines. Maybe for you thats normal, but not for me, you should accept that. To me it is a theme park novelty and to many watching these video it will remain as such. What do you think that there is an influx of people going to Japan to live in these apartments when they have far easier to migrate to, better housing options, and more compatible countries to go to? Be real. Who are you to get in my way of saying whats humane and what isnt? You think sardine homes are humane and would gladly subject people to it cause "its cheap and affordable". There are ways to make cheap affordable housing without doing this to people, but I guess thats far above your perception cause "cool quirky Japanese housing wow" overrides any common sense.

I would not put it in a freezer. Regular fridge sure, the riceballs are nice and firm that way, but freezer will just make it into a block of ice.

@harvestmoon_autumnsky Just look at Yellowstone.

Biggest rule of riding bikes is to let it age, chip its paint and rust a bit so that its no longer appealing to thieves.

Why not just introduce wolves to Japan again? Is there no Japanese wolf in captivity or a wolf variant that would work for Japanese islands?
1
@brianlynchehaun7079 I would more associate it with fruit or honey based spirits, but less antiseptic towards your throat. Far more sweet than wine (which to me also had that bitterness on top of the sweetness of the grapes).

Perhaps introduce level parking lots for scooters in high traffic areas.
