If you bought it in 2006 and had to sell it in 2012 it certainly didn't double. You bought at the bottom and got a nice return. We might be at the top now. Your house is worth 600-800 now, well maybe in a year or two it will be back down to 400. Hope that answers your question. It might be back up to 600-800 by 2035.
