If a gene drive in the ants was released and it got back to Argentina and wiped them completely out, certainly that would cause another problem....probably a much bigger problem.

@Matthew Mcgee A bigger problem than the Argentine Ants being somewhere they don't belong. How are you connecting that they are wiping out every other insect species? It didn't say that. It just said they can't easily defend against Argentine Ants. That doesn't mean they're all becoming extinct.

@Matthew Mcgee No....that's not what's being said. They aren't going to wipeout nearly every other species. You're just inferring that without actually hearing it. If that were the case there'd be no insects left where I live, the American Deep South, where Red Imported Fire Ants spread to and are, according to the video, even stronger than Argentine Ants. Are they a pest? Yes. Do they cause problems? Yes. Are they going around wiping out every insect species they come across like bloodthirsty killers causing a trophic cascade? No.

It's amazing that we as a species are even able to come up with theories like this (although actually building one would be exponentially cooler).

6:23 Sounded pretty honest with the pubic to me: "....but then again, maybe not. This is SPECULATION." Also a LOT of words such as "maybe", "possibly", "could happen", etc. were frequently used. If the pubic is too inattentive or stupid to understand what this means then it sounds like a problem with the public to me, not the video or creators of the video.

@rickhale4348 You are preaching to the choir as far as someone having a difficult time understanding written words due to a lack of punctuation. It drives me absolutely nuts. It's like the movie Idiocracy has become reality. In 30 more years I can see a dissertation written in order to get a PhD being just one long run-on sentence. When I was in school (GRADE school even), even if you were writing a paper for science class, you lost grade points if you made grammatical/spelling errors. Assuming you are from America: what a shitty educational system this has become. 😒

@rickhale4348 Lol....I'm not really a doctor. I just carry that screen name as the plague doctors (my profile picture) look bizarre to me....so my screen name follows the pic, written in what "sounds" like Medieval English (vernacular?).

@rickhale4348 Yep. ALL of this drives me absolutely crazy. My aunt has a Master's Degree in mathematics and taught high school math classes for 30 years. She recently retired because they introduced this ridiculous "common core" math and she refused to teach it but they told her she HAD to, even though she constantly had one of the highest percentages of students passed her classes (especially in the higher level high school math classes such as trig and calculus) so she quit. One year later a co-worker of hers, who taught American history, also quit, as apparently American history now begins in 1945. I just don't understand why this stuff is being done. Of course you'll have people say things like "The government wants to keep all of us ignorant so they can more or less enslave us!" but that doesn't make one iota of sense to me. If you had a country with a population of 100% uneducated morons, that country probably wouldn't continue to succeed for long. In other words, it would be to their own slow demise. Also, as far as retaining information, I remember before cell phones I could memorize at least about 50 phone numbers +/-(?). Probably I still could if I wanted/needed to. Not only that but I could tell you who each one belonged to. If you break each of these down into 10 digits , plus, let's just consider the first and last initial of the people's names, each initial being equivalent to one digit 8and by knowing their names we can put the associated numbers in alphabetical order, this would be equivalent to memorizing a string of numbers 600 digits long, in order. I wonder how many kids could do that today? My bet is not many. And yes: nice talking. 😎 👍 And yes: I realize you aren't supposed to begin a sentence with a conjunction such as "and". 😂6

I may have the exact date wrong but it's along those lines. I SHOULD still be alive. I remember that. We'll see anyway...

That's not as cool as it sounds. One year I stayed a couple months at my folks house in the NC mountains. My stepmom was raised in Boston and thought living in the country was cool (which it is) so she decided we were going to eat no vegetables except what was coming in in the garden. I remember this: I didn't want another squash, zucchini or asparagus for a couple years. It gets old very quick. On the other hand I suppose, it makes it when something new comes in all the better. Back to the original hand though...it also gets old very quickly.
