History can change as there are no records from this long ago so all they can do is make highly educated guesses based upon the evidence they have at the time. As time goes on and more evidence is found this sometimes changes the timeline of what was thought to have happened. That's a huge difference from a blatant lie to achieve some goal of an unknown, ulterior motive.
