  17. I agree with most of what you said here, but the Note 3 was a bad example for a device that shouldn't be used to run a PS2 emulator. When it was new it was a flagship model for Samsung and by the 10x rule of thumb in emulation is more than powerful enough to this day to run a PS2 emulator, and I can confirm that certain games will run at full speed on it. The only reason why some games still don't run at full speed on such devices is because either the games were highly unoptimized or the emulator author hasn't finished accounting for everything, such as using a shader to reduce CPU load and pass that onto the GPU. Although, if the authors were more capable and could implement a proper dynarec then that too would reduce a lot of resource requirements.

It further compounds the theft of their rights, and all merely because they were suspected in some unrelated crime. Also, I've said it before and I'll probably say it again, but the slippery slope is real. They will abuse whatever power they get and take it 10 steps further.

  24.  @unformed  I can't really help with the games because they either do or they don't and it depends on the types of games you play. Granted you could run them through a VM and they'd be 100% compatible, but then you'd still be running Windows, and it'd be an extra layer which, depending on your machine, may slow things down unacceptably. I'll have to look into flowlauncher to even attempt helping with that, because I've never heard of it. As for screenshots I use Spectacle and I'm not sure what feature you want that it may be missing. I've got all the shortcuts set up to screenshot the whole desktop, the active window and even to let me draw a rectangle on screen and screenshot that. It can save with a patterned filename, which I setup in the configuration as a time/date stamp, or you can save as whatever filename you want. It can be configured to save to any folder or choose a different one on demand. For me, I set the PrintScreen key to just bring up the window so I can do whatever from there, then WinKey+PrintScreen snaps the whole desktop, Win+Shift+PrtScr for the active window and Win+Ctrl+PrtScr for a rectangle region, but these are just the keys I use.

  27.  @awesomeferret  If someone is saying something false, you should tell them so and correct them, but never report. The moderators will delete with impunity and it is absolutely wrong. Especially given that they will not bother to check for correctness. On the issue of fair use, it's a doctrine but it's not codified in law, technically, while a judge might allow it, it's still illegal and the DMCA codifies the illegality of it.

Simpson's Hit and Run being one of them. Though, I wasn't using AetherSX2 to play it, so if it doesn't run at full speed with his emulator then he's backwards from where he should be.

Eventually Rust will be misused by billions because no one listens to me, but the statement that JS users rewrite everything, that's where it really belongs. Why use perfectly functioning, fully debugged, fast, low memory footprint programs when you can rewrite it in Rust.

Should be YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS where HH would be 24 hour time periods. As I write this it is 2022-06-08 22:53:41.

Prior to the DMCA passing it was perfectly legal to copy your own things for backup purposes, but not now. Also, stop reporting things for any reason other than spam.

  41. Sounds like a possibly good idea, depending on how its implemented. I suppose if each user took their own security into their own hands and encrypted their files and signed them with their own key then it would eliminate framing attacks for such users as well as data theft.

  42. I very much doubt that's even close to reality. My computer is brand new and could actually be used to game. I use Linux because I desire freedom, both mentally and electronically. You can cope with whatever cage you're in.

  43.  @cannaroe1213  As someone who's worked with a lot of CS graduates, I can attest to the fact that while they tend to be able to program, they aren't the best at it. In fact, those with degrees in non-CS fields have been the worst, but generally, the best are those that actually have a passion for programming and learning in general, regardless of degree. Math and anything engineering related tend to be the worst of the worst because they seem to understand optimization the least, but there are exceptions.

Especially if the fork works better. What's more if you have to rewrite bits of the core to get it to work, it's no longer the same core.

If it uses the same core as you claim, something which can't be proven as AetherSX2 is closed source, then he surely would have made changes as last time I tried it PCSX2 wouldn't even run H&R. You need to look up what a fork actually is.
