Because they care more about capitalism than democracy.

Or their willful stupidity Or their complicity in evil.
15
It's not sensationalism, appeaser.

Chris V plenty of avid Bernie fans on the left were able to criticize him. I simply do not see a significant amount of the problem you're talking about on the left. In fact, leftists are known for criticizing each other to the point of counterproductive infighting. Liberals display the tendency you speak of and sometimes it shows up a bit with fans of pundits, but the tendency to fall in line and refuse to criticize appears to be solidly correlated with how far right someone is. Not saying it never happens, but there's no comparison at all.
15
But instead everyone is focused on a strategic disagreement with AOC on forcing a M4A floor vote because it makes them seem more like true progressives™

It Can Happen Here

"I want all the power. Shut up and like it."

@kevinschmidt2210 ....ah yes, because that comment was at all relevant and viewers of this channel are totally known for watching the corporate media....oh wait, no, that's just your brain rot scrambling your thinking into incoherence.

”Never believe that [they] are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. [They] have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.” -Jean-Paul Sartre (edited to try and keep YouTube from suspiciously censoring it)

You know what is antisemitic though? Equating all Jewish people to the government of Israel when many don't even support it.
14
SUBconscious?
14
As a center-left social democrat, there's a reason I find more political kinship with full socialists and anarchists than moderate succdems...
14
Fascists dehumanize themselves. We just acknowledge that reality.
14
Jee, it's almost like all politics right of the actual center (about where Bernie is running from) is fundamentally at odds with democracy.
14
Here's an idea: let healthcare professionals opt out of treating the willfully unvaccinated. This long into things, we really need to start considering their burnout in our triage calculations. If they won't take personal responsibility and get the shot, I don't see why it should cripple our healthcare system for decades just because they want to act like spoiled brats.
14
They're putting on display that it's not really about productivity. It's control of our lives that they desire most. Money is just one means to those ends. They don't want their "property" having the freedom to do more than work for them, spend money, and make replacement "property". Don't let the end of landed nobility and chattel slavery (at least openly in a large portion of the world) trick you into thinking that the way they look at the people doing the actual work in society has changed in any meaningful way. The idea that, rather than constantly acting grateful to them for "allowing" your obedient, bound servitude to them to "earn" you the right to live, you should be a free an equal member of society is something that always has and always will absolutely disgust the right-wing elites. NEVER forget that.

Reminder that people in the labor party deliberately sabotaged his campaign
14
@mamiegraziano9737 Dore's little personality cult has no business telling anyone they're being played. You don't even have a clue what that looks like, clearly, so how tf would you know?
14
There's a, frankly, massive number of videos here on YouTube titled "Jordan Peterson doesn't understand [insert topic he speaks confidently about]" where he is just ripped apart for not understanding the most fundamental stuff about any subject he speaks on. But hey, what can we expect from the guy who's claimed that images of 2 entwined snakes (how they mate, btw) is evidence ancient humans had knowledge of the double-helical structure of DNA?
14
No, the internet will just become like cable TV: a sanitized, corporate-approved pipe of "infotainment" to lul people back to sleep (meanwhile crushing small internet businesses and expanding the already insane power of large ISPs).
14
Yeah, she just knows that they're overplaying their hand and doesn't want to be there when the consequences come falling down on them. A rat fleeing a sinking ship, nothing more
14
@tomizatko3138 not privatizing infrastructure is "extreme Communisim" now and private, for-profit corporations are on the left? Wtf are you even talking about?
14
Neoliberals are conservatives.
14
The cruelty has always been the point. They hurt others because it makes them feel good to do so. Everything else is just excuses to convince people (often including themselves) that there's some noble reason for their sadism. It's the same with everything they do. They kiss up and kick down because it temporarily alleviates their own feelings of weakness that so terrify them that they will do anything to escape them. This is not a joke or hyperbole. This is the core motivation of their ideology.
13
I'd say you don't have a clue what you're talking about but that would be giving you too much credit. Just admit you hate voting and want a dictatorship.
13
@koyotestudios4182 I wish that last part was surprising to me, but unfortunately a good book (or even the right YouTube channel) can provide a far better sex ed than a lot of classes on it in the US.
13
We don't have a liberal party. We have a neoliberal (read: conservative) party and a fascist party. As flawed as it is, go look up the political compass for the last 2 primaries (2016 & 2020) and that will explain a lot of US politics.
13
@Henrydingus01123 a Nazi talking down to people for shaving their heads? You really have killed irony haven't you?
13
@vinceg3463 just 2 years ago, there were 3 black churches burned down in 10 days in one city, to say nothing of the not infrequent use of firebombings, but you're right, your side favors mass shootings as their MO, so the property damage is usually minimal. Not sure what your point was, but when the left starts a pattern of shooting up places of worship you come back and we'll see if there's any moral equivolence there (though considering the tendency of the right to target black churches and Jewish synagogues with the intent to kill and terrorize black and Jewish people for being black and Jewish, you'd have an uphill battle trying to equivocate even there)
13
@dwightschrute47 Hamas has offered peace and the return of all hostages. Israel said "no"
13
@ArticBlueFox96 yup, I'd give Bernie the credit of being a left-leaning moderate, but his platform is just FDR (you know, that guy who instituted as much of the New Deal as actually got implimented and was proud to have "saved capitalism") minus the racism. Hell, I'm significantly left of Bernie and I'm not even a true democratic socialist, so Bernie isn't even as far left as social democrats get. The only reason Bernie looks extreme is because over the last 50ish years our politics have been sliding right 'till we're back to the politics of the Guilded Age that ushered in the Great Depression and the rise of fascism and just like the tail end of the previous Guilded Age, the world is about as stable today as a house of cards.
13
@BeautifulEarthJa her endorsement will be much more important when it gets to Bernie vs Warren in earnest and more people are paying attention and unclear on who is a real progressive. There is absolutely a strategic reason to wait that isn't maneuvering to stab Bernie in the back, and it is absurd to say otherwise.
13
Because that would make room for progressives in the "Democratic" party, defeating the point ofnthe right-wing takeover of the party in the first place.
13
Does anyone believe that if Hillary had treated blacks (for example) with the same overt contempt and voter disenfranchisement tactics she used on millennials that this voter-shaming discussion would be happening? Anyone?
13
"Where was 15 is South Bend? Pete can't be our President."
13
@mrledhead68 political stances are things people choose that affect the lives of others. Your equivocation with gender identity is false.
13
"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protectes but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect. There is nothing more or else to it, and there never has been, in any place or time."
13
Related statistic: More active shooters are stopped by unarmed teachers in schools than by all armed civilians combined. It's almost like most people who go concealed carry aren't doing so because they want to defend their community but because the gun is their version of a "safety blankie" to make them less terrified of the outside world.
12
The establishment "Democrats" are center-right. Right wing politics traces its roots back to royalists opposing democratic government existing at all and functions by consolidating power to build and protect hierarchal power structures. This is mask off time of who everyone in the establishment really is.
12
All the Abrihamic faiths worship the same god and share some of the same books. Their fundamentalists will always trend in the same dirrection.
12
@drewcoowoohoo this is a common, but stupid argument. Marrage coming with certain rights has its place. Beyond that, as far as the government is concerned, it is a contract between consenting adults, and restrictions on who can are unconstitutional.
12
The problem in South America is the CIA and our war on drugs. If we were able to get our government to behave itself, 95%+ of these problems from Mexico on down wouldn't exist. Remember the term "banana republic"? We never stopped.
12
If there was ever something appropriate to use the term "class traitor" for it would be this. -sincerely, a social democrat
12
@Paul Berevoescu yup. Are corporations people or not? Pick one
12
Actions speak louder than words. When someone shows you who they are, believe them!
12
@brothersandsistersofvalhalla history has a word for people like you. That word is "appeaser".
12
Also, and arguably even moreso, evangelicals.
12
If it was a little Jewish girl, can you imagine how many people would just go full mask off in their reactions to it happening?
12
Yup, everyone needs to read up on all the rules about what you're allowed to do where near polling places and absolutely document it, report it, and call the cops on them.
