  6. People are only really receptive to being radicalized by such things when social/economic conditions are bad, the government isn't responsive, and credible news sources are hard to come by. Unfortunately, that's exactly the situation we have. It's not really the fault of free speech that causes the problem though, as you see similar upticks in even non-political mass shootings under those conditions. To pull an extreme example, Hitler would have gone entirely unnoticed by history if it wasn't for the condition the German people were living in that made them receptive to such extremism. This is part of why FDR argued that economic security was vital to a democratic country. On the flip side, letting the government legislate what counts as truth is a rather dangerous prescient to set and can snowball into totalitarianism rather easily.

Are you saying the US is just inherently incompetent and can never do the things other countries do for about half the cost? Maybe if doctors weren't spending so much time juggling the different paperwork for countless insurance coverage plans they would have more time to actually do their jobs. Ever consider that?

  13. Donnell Allan problem is that cops view their guns as tools to enforce their authority rather than an ugly tool sometimes needed as a last resort to save lives. If you can't AT LEAST give a clear and specific answer to "Who am I protecting?" it should never be drawn. There's no excuse for shooting someone in the back like that.

For the life of me I cannot understand the mindset that leads people to not trust the MSM, but then not do their own research and just vote for the incumbent the same media they don't trust is obviously pushing. Seriously people. This is the age of the internet. Have some damn agency, look up the candidates that will be on the ballot on your own, and make your own decisions instead of letting someone else think for you...or at the very least, if things suck, vote against the incumbent by default.

  24. Those are HUGE bombings. Usually with a terrorist bombing you're looking at around 10 deaths because bodies of victims shield those further out. To kill about 150 with a single explosion takes an insanely huge bomb, that was probably taking up most of the space in the truck. Anyone with the nerves to handle it should watch the video clip in the link if they want to get a true sense of the scale that this was. For those that don't, we're looking at something like the Oklahoma City bombing, but instead of targeting a government building, targeting a crouded intersection. 160 of the bodies couldn't even be identified. This isn't just another bombing.

This strategy of doing something that gets people riled up to distract and change the subject from the more horrible stuff they're trying to do quietly is something the Republicans have been using since at least the Bush era (and judging by how practiced they were at it then, long before that) and the media has been falling for it the whole time. At this point, anyone in the media who seems unable to see the game being played is either a complete moron, or complicit.

  38.  @anthonybrowne3942  Obama expanded 2 wars to 7, compromised to the right of a Heritage Foundation healthcare plan, made sure almost all the economic recovery went to the rich, failed to put in anywhere close to sufficient regulation to stop the next financial crash, let the GOP pack the courts, normalized (and in many cases expanded) Bush's violations of the constitution and international law, made most of Bush's tax cuts permanent, disbanded his progressive movement right after getting elected, abandoned crisis like Flint (while pretending to drink the water and telling people it was safe), paved the way for Trump, and expanded executive power on the way out the door after Trump was elected. But please, tell me more about how great center-right President Obama was. Speek up though, it's hard to hear over all the harm he's done including the easily 6 figgure death toll.

  45. Depends....creating a site that can overtake it in it's current form...difficult. But if too much content is almost entirely Patreon supported, people are going to just start ad-blocking the site again just to spite YouTube. It was content creators' pleas that got people to turn adblock off in the first place, and if they're getting too hurt, and enough people REALLY want to see YouTube collapse, they'll go right ahead and turn it back on. It's not quite to the point where hurting YouTube would be worth the harm to content creators (ideally it'd be through a formal boycott, after alternatives are better off, and content creators are even more Patreon supported) so I don't do it or recommend it....YET.
