The reason they exist, with the approval of the BoE is to put wealth beyond the UK tax regulations that apply to the rest of us.. Yes fairness. In order that the wealthy should benefit from the PO sell off, the PO pension multi billion pound black hole was removed and is now a taxpayer burden. Thames Water was debt free when privatised. Only because the debt was written off at the expense of the British taxpayer, just to benefit profiteers....i could go on.. Richard Branson pays no UK tax,, while his workforce has to. It the wealthy paid their fair share, they would still be wealthy. Fairness isn't an.outrageous thing to desire. Anyway, we won't convince each other. But thanks for your comments

He wanted taxpayer funded furlough payments for his workforce.. Virgin rail will no doubt, like other rail companies, receive tax subsidies. Whatever he believes, it's not reality. Richard Branson called for heavier taxes on the wealthy to mitigate inequality and to improve the living standards of others. What a hypocrite. And despite writing books on "standing on your own feet" his ventures have benefitted from billions of tax subsidies from me and you. He also called for increased living wages , based on the Scandinavian experiment.

  21. If you want to believe everything Richard B says, read his comments at the Milken Institute summit in Abu Dhabi 2019. He actually calls for the wealthy to pay heavier taxes.. it's interesting to read a hypocrite's opinions. Also, have a look at his views on a living wage. It might surprise you that your trusted Billionaire doesn't hold the views that you have​ @Tensquaremetreworkshop

  28. ​ @adenwellsmith6908 our privatised railways ARE subsidised. If we had to pay the true cost everyone would need massive pay rises. Our taxes are used to subsidise lots of private companies. Water Companies had their debts written off at taxpayers expense beginning privatisation. The Post Office enormous pension debt was transferred to the treasury before it's privatisation. The private finance industry has benefitted from us for generations.

  36. That used to be the case. Labour is funded by Quadrature An offshore tax haven hedge fund with interests in arms, oil, American health profiteers etc. Everyone works for their paymaster. Labour is working for wealthy investors. That's why pensioners were first to suffer a cut. Starmer has promised us a painful budget. Hedge Fund millionaires will not suffer though. I'm a lifelong Labour party member, the original party is dead.

  37. PFI has to guarantee big returns from the taxpayer for private finance to fund anything. It worked out exactly as it was intended too. The private sector is​ inefficient, it's all about maximising returns to investors and nothing about value for money m @Tensquaremetreworkshop

Nothing to do with the civil service, but for a number of factors common to all large building projects. I can't be bothered to list them, but they seem to be fairly consistent as the underlying causes of the issues. Again, I'm off, Happy Christmas

As for envelopes, I can tell you they often have to be hand sorted for correct orientation before they go into a machine that fits inserts into envelopes .

And a technician walking a couple of yards to a computer terminal could never ever convince me that after the treatment I received that the service was inefficient, in fact it was the complete opposite. The medical staff were superb, compassionate and kind. Qualities that don't appear on any balance sheet. Anyway, hope you and your family have a good New Year, we will never agree, but all the best.

  48. @Tensquaremetreworkshop  They use taxpayer trained staff from the NHS. Private healthcare do not spend anything on training. their doctors nurses, consultants etc. They will transfer you to the NHS if you suffer life threatening symptoms during or after a procedure ,
