  2. She was head of Illinois' public health department. She had to leave. At the beginning of the vaccination push, she was asked about the effects of the vaccines on fertility. She said, "We don't know. We don't know because clinical trials did not include pregnant women or women planning to become pregnant." She said it so calmly and matter-of-factly. I was stunned. I had to sit down. It was the first true thing I heard come out of anyone's mouth since all this began. (She even said "women." How quaint is that, lol?)

  3. Precisely what we need to know. How many full vaccinations are needed to save one life? We always had those numbers quite early on, for all sorts of vaccines and other medical interventions. I found the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut safety report, English language version. You might want to take a peek, to verify. It is always a good idea to go to primary sources to verify anything a politician says.

  4.  @negrildoc  Exactly. It is long past time to depoliticize the issue and do a careful, systematic inquiry. That safety report provides ample reason to open a serious risk-benefit analysis, by demographic. Neither this politician nor anyone else really knows yet, at least not for younger people -- which is exactly the problem. We know pretty well to recommend it to men over 50 and women over 60, and probably a lot of other people as well. But now I wonder. I don't think it was fair to push it on adolescent boys, or on most people under 30. It does not halt disease or spread, and we know it was never promised to.

  6. The CDC is assuming everyone should, or must, be vaccinated. Then the relative risk they discuss makes sense. But that assumption needs to be questioned. ;)

  7. There are lawsuits pending against employers who required vaccination and refused testing as an alternative, and against hospitals which failed to treat people with vaccine injuries properly. Why would you want your daughter to go public with her illness? Don't violate her privacy -- find professionals (lawyers representing these cases, and doctors treating them) to HELP her, and DON'T tell people about her issues.

  9. ​@somatotrophin1535 The study does not differentiate between COVID mortality and non-COVID mortality. If the vaccines reduce overall COVID mortality, without literally killing a lot of people, then of course they will also reduce all-cause mortality, since the latter includes COVID mortality. No one claims vaccines undermine health MORE THAN they prevent COVID death overall. I think they might in some groups, like people under 25. Why has Europe stopped pushing these vaccines for anyone under 50, for that matter? Only multivariate analysis can figure out what is really happening, and that takes time and money. And honesty. But lying pays better.

  11.  @shotgunkawaii116  False. The relative risk profiles of the various vaccine types are not the same. This was made clear in 2021, when Johnson & Johnson was briefly suspended and the others were not. It was further made clear when we found out that age and sex had a bearing on risk for the mRNA vaccines -- the two mRNA vaccines not having the same risk profile, either. This is why a lot of European countries are not using Moderna before age 50, and not recommending vaccination before age 16 at all -- and not pushing it on people under 30, and not pushing boosters on those who have already had COVID and recovered. Why do you think we're all ignorant? Counting on something to have destroyed our memories?

  15.  @hazmat5118  Well, I agree that early variants, including the original virus, were clearly more dangerous to older people than current variants are. It now appears that even early on, young people were often asymptomatic, so the vaccines were probably not as helpful to them as to those over 40, and especially over 70. I think at this point we know a lot of people were injured by the vaccines, but now the discourse is shifting, so that those people are being scared they they will never get better. This is unbelievably cruel, and appears not to be the case. Jennifer Sharp, who just wrote, directed, and appeared in the documentary Anecdotals, said that she herself is almost back to normal, and most of her side effects ended within several months of taking the vaccine. They were not trivial, but her life was not at risk and she is much better. For her, the real story was the silencing and shunning she was subjected to after she had a reaction -- which may have made her symptoms worse. That ticks me off hugely.

Throughout life I've been struck by how often a scary prognosis (nevermind scary speculation based on practically no data) has turned out to be wrong. My late mom loved that famous book by Norman Cousins. That is a great, short book to reread now. In fact, I think I will.

  30. @johnpeers6540  We can compare 2020 to 2021 and 2022, overall, and then by separating out those who were vaccinated in 2021-2022 from those who were not. That's not foolproof, however. It's just like when there is a study showing that women who take vitamin C are slightly less likely to die of breast cancer. You cannot be sure it's the vitamin; it could be that vitamin takers eat better, sleep better, and exercise more. So, if those agreeing to be vaccinated are less likely to be obese or less likely to have already had COVID, that might matter. You'll think the vaccine protected them, when it's BMI and the ability (good luck) to have escaped getting the worst strain before vaccination.

That is exactly why I actually read the linked medical research journal articles, like the one from Cleveland Clinic (multiply boosted were getting more infections, but not more severe ones thank God). I'm, like, if Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, etc., don't do this, it is automatically off the table. If they do, I may consider it. But if they don't, I won't. That's where I'm at now. ;/ Different countries' ministries of health have English-language websites now, and I check. Someone actually told me I was lying, and that that is not possible (!!)
