The first speaker seemed unqualified. She confirmed that impression in spectacular fashion.

I guess you don't know who this is.
1
@davidwhite4149 Really? Looks like the audience here needs it. Ninety percent of what I'm seeing is tut-tut, tisk-tisk misrepresentation of the students that has no bearing on what happened at the talk. In fact, one student began by saying he supports free speech before asking a question, and another thanked Bannon for staying longer than planned. BTW, you do know Bannon faced federal indictment for wire fraud, and was pardonned, correct?
1
@davidwhite4149 I write fast. Thanks for calling it professional.
1
@davidwhite4149 Well, you're right, I joined during the COVID shutdowns so I'm new. I feel someone has to set the real record straight. I expected to hear activists and "snowflakes" based on the comments, when what I heard were excellent questions -- and they pinpointed something important: Bannon's best ideas were not implemented. I'm shocked, shocked. :/

@wishfix The single most common major in US universities by far is Business Administration, and has been for some 30 years. The next most common majors involve the health sciences, with Nursing at the top. Look it up. Business courses that are not purely quantitative, and some that are, are primarily propaganda.

@jlondon158 By the DOJ under the Trump administration. Do you know how to find an indictment? It's public information.
1
@jlondon158 YOU suggested it was a politically driven prosecution. I suggested that was highly unlikely, as the DOJ is one place Trump was able to influence during his first term.
1
@jlondon158 The fraud charge was based on collecting money for a border wall and, um, keeping it, essentially.
1
@jlondon158 Look something up, like an actual indictment, and read it. I don't believe the press when I can read a real document. Rush Limbaugh was paid to jeer, make stuff up, peddle outrage, and concoct soundbites. So are the stars of CNN, MSNBC. Are you?
1
@jlondon158 Who is defending all the faux charities, foundations, and NGOs that get away with it? No one here.
1
@jlondon158 No, just jealous. There may be limits to greed, but to jealousy there are none.
1
@jlondon158 Good, you clearly need it.
1
@jlondon158 This time it's e before i. Atheist, not athiest.
1
@jlondon158 WWJD?

Please correct autocorrect. Please?

He is sleazy, and manipulative. I would hate to go up against him in court.
1
@nalejbank You're beginning with the moderator's questions. I addressed each of the student questions from the audience.
1
@nalejbank I wonder where these talking points come from -- but I know who they serve: the neoliberal elites. (See, e.g., David Harvey)
1
@nalejbank Calling things "cancer" now is a dead giveaway, BTW. We no longer have argumentation, or even agreed-upon facts; we have rhetorical signaling to fellow tribalists. Your last two sentences ("Make your decision. Pick your side.") inadvertently admit it. I guess you got excited.
1
@mirapilates It certainly used to be; it isn't necessarily at present, but I've been saying all over these threads that the Trump DOJ, With Barr as Attorney General, indicted him, and he was pardoned, not exonerated, and state charges may still be brought. I don't know what has to happen for these people to wake up. I don't know what facts they are waiting for.
1
Bethnal Green Bannon is the one who is selfish. How can he dupe you so easily? It would be plenty difficult for anyone under 30 to compare with Bannon with respect to engaging in dubious dealings for petty personal gain. They haven't had enough time.
1
@nalejbank Hamilton, Madison, and Jay aren't exactly icons at OXFORD.
1
@AngelaBecker1966 No one suggested any such thing. But when any political operative consistently claims to advocate policies that are NEVER adopted, you should consider why. It may or may not be disingenuous on their part . . . you do notice a lot of prominent DNC types do this all the time, no? What questions does that raise for you?
1
Harald Blåtand Your ad hominem is as pointless as it is banal. We already knew you were ill informed. You don't have to prove it three times.
1
@Jg09098 Because it's easy. Well, for me. P. S. Resolved: Sharpen math and logic skills for 2022. Okay, try a little bit. There's cool videos on that.
1
Watch closely. His very best ideas are never implemented. Don't take my word for it. Watch. Because it is important. And you're right about his best ideas, too. Let's see where they go now, when COVID has made everything worse.
1
18:55 Why people like him . . . And yet he contradicts himself (other people do get to say when it's over).
1
@nancywalker1325 How is that pertinent? The Trump DOJ, headed by Barr, indicted him. Not exactly a crowd hostile to the man, one would imagine. Um, maybe read the indictment? It's online, public info.
1
If you watch math videos, you find out how many of them are from Africa. They teach standard mathematics, I hope you know.
1
Disappointing.

"Hitler" 🤡🌎

@Paul-tu8fg None of the questions were about trans issues. Not sure why it comes up here.
1
@ThatsRight1776 Not true. Why are you misrepresenting what happened?
1
Why is it that BANNON enjoyed these questions? He didn't take a dim view of them at all. He also gave them a good workout in rhetoric, demanding examples. These are young people in front of a celebrity, of course they were a little flustered, but they responded well and Bannon acknowledged that. (Maybe that's one reason why he is where he is and you are not?)
1
@robertgalloway3771 Exactly. Not one of Bannon's good ideas (making Wall Street accountable, Silicon Valley less monolithic) ever goes anywhere. The saying is, "connect the dots."
1
"Where is Tommy Atkins?"
1
@gaylecoleman8567 And plenty of people, of every political stripe, supposedly, claim to "buck the system," when what they are really doing is furiously feathering their own nests. In fact, they are so rabid about it that we should all worry about the scale and depth of the next economic crash. They clearly know something that no one is alerting us about, or explaining to us. (The handful of nutcases predicting Armageddon don't count, since they are more likely to turn people away from being concerned about the state of the world than they are to enlighten anyone about real risks.)
1
@petercarey4655 This is all true. No argument from me.
1
The din in the background is appalling and shameful, and I'm very left. European, though. Not American-style. Students in the hall supported free speech, and one who disagreed with him first thanked him for staying over before asking a question, as they should.
1
@kevinobrien1897 Oh yeah? So . . . You've read the indictment, which was returned by the DOJ under Trump as President, and Attorney General Barr as its head? Who in this picture was partisan, presumably with a bias against Bannon, according to you? Or shall we generate an ad hoc hypothesis to counter every last fact? That sounds like fun!
1
@larrypatterson2340 Collecting money to help finance the border wall while diverting it to his own private, personal enrichment was the conduct charged.
1
@kevinobrien1897 Oh how funny. And here, I was about to agree with quite a bit of what you said. I don't give a rat's rear for what any monolingual American thinks of me. I'm not planning to stay here. It is due to repeated tragedies that I'm here at all. And as a matter of fact, both my father and my mother's only brother were veterans of the British Army (Eighth and Second, respectively).
