@eaglerider1826 I don't agree with 17 being old enough for the armed forces, though it requires parental consent. I still don't agree. I don't care who does it. You certainly don't see civilian police that age, anywhere. Some places are averse to hiring police before age 23 or 25. They probably have good reasons.
1
@eaglerider1826 At any rate, the Army currently requires a high school diploma or a GED. "I wonder why." /s
1
@eaglerider1826 And what do you THINK that means? Find out what the Supreme Court says it means. That's who gets to interpret it definitively, setting a standard the states cannot go below.
1
@sygrene What's your source for this? It's not lost wages or something. Why would it be "income?" It's a division of property owned that should have already been taxed before division.
1
Has anyone bothered to check court records? Or do you believe this simplistic version? No, she wasn't making it up. That she always went back for more is incomprehensible.
1
@tochukwuifeanetu4336 He left behind texts that are unbelievable. I mean, really sick stuff that makes no sense, makes bizarre remarks about her mother, etc. He needed rehab and felt too trapped by his job to get help. That's the really sad part This case could serve as a lesson. Why are they spinning it instead? .
1
@lazyam1523 He didn't say that at all. Of course the system permits expert evaluation based on medical records. That is how insurance companies deny coverage all the time. 💰💰💰
1
@lazyam1523 Exactly, Depp has a right to refuse to talk to this guy, short of a court order.
1
We should suspend the Bill of Rights. We should vote on Facebook. Elon Musk will save us. Bill Gates is a doctor. Storm Brian Laundrie's house and make his parents talk. Fauci is Science. Hunter is hot, you're jealous. War is Peace. Seize $50m from Amber, hand it over to Johnny. Put Novak Djokovic in a camp. Homeland Security!!! Putin did it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
1
How mentally ill are you all? (And can you purchase firearms?)
1
@ajarnold8444 How is that their role?
1
@stephenboyd4934 It's not impossible.
1
@TT_09 The word is "minor." A child is someone who has not completed puberty. That does not usually describe a 17-year-old, or even some 16-year-olds. But they are all underage minors.
1
@richesandgold European countries with higher cancer rates have longer life expectancy.
1
@Persefone94 Welcome to America. You'll hear worse.
1
@craig7350 Healthcare a business? How elastic is THIS demand curve?
1
@jacquelenevonweyhe-o1y They are in the court record. Don't believe Internet blather.
1
@madgoldnz If I look in the mirror, I won't see you or anyone like you. 😂
1
@dougiesherwin9591 It certainly is pertinent.
1
@Jessica_Noelie The defense attorney’s point that the crime scene was contaminated is, unfortunately, true. It was contaminated because the roommates called other people and other people came over before law enforcement was summoned. That's not accusing the roommate. She may have been impaired, and was incapable of thinking clearly. A lot of people don't know anything about forensics and don't know they contaminated a crime scene. It's not deliberate.
1
@4Him4Ever It should not have been torn down prior to trial.
1
@madgoldnz Oh, at $1140 per hour, for every hour of every day of the year, 24/7/365, he's just an employee. He has no responsibility for anything. Is AI rejecting these claims? Then pay the robot.
1
@SalamHerbs-db5nt No. Hemsley is WAY privileged. Don't count on the media to tell you about it.
1
I don't know why this case is being misrepresented. The court documents show a much more complex scenario. It could serve as a lesson. I'm surprised people don't see through it.
1
@allanthomas6097 Conflicts are analyzed from the viewpoint of the first case you took. Any case that represents a conflict with that case must be refused, with certain exceptions. Just dropping one of them is not enough; the conflict persists if the first client is in any way jeopardized -- and in this case, something the mother told the attorney in confidence potentially could help Kohberger's defense. I consider that a conflict of interest, but I don't know if it is technically permissible and just disfavored in some people's eyes. It's a tough call, but I expect criminal defense lawyers to volunteer themselves to act as counsel pro bono, so in the end Kohberger will probably opt not to use the public defender's office. If this case goes to trial, the lawyer will have a book deal in the millions.
1
@deecastle5053 If he goes to trial, he'll end up with a private lawyer. Just watch.
1
Once he got a shot off, whether in self defense or not, why wouldn't bystanders have a right to try to disarm him? People in the vicinity might think the initial shot was the beginning of a mass shooting. They might reasonably believe they were defending themselves and others.
1
I think it is a conflict of interest, but I tend to view those laws more strictly than most. A typical lawyer will not ask whether representation is forbidden or ethically disfavored -- when a case that could get them a major book deal and make them rich comes along, they ask "how do I get on?" Conflicts are analyzed from the viewpoint of the first case you took. Any case that represents a conflict with that case must be refused, with certain exceptions. Just dropping one of them is not enough; the conflict persists if the first client is in any way jeopardized -- and in this case, something the mother told the attorney in confidence potentially could help Kohberger's defense. It's a tough call, but I expect criminal defense lawyers to volunteer themselves to act as counsel pro bono, so in the end Kohberger will probably opt not to use the public defender's office.

@TheShadowMan. WRONG
1
@stellahead thank you . . . that is right!
1
@TheShadowMan. The implication was that a lawyer would take any case. They are like hired assassins, or what?
1
@deecastle5053 This is incorrect. EVERY lawyer is a professional, and is bound by the same ethics rules, and is responsible for obeying those rules, even if it means disagreeing with a superior in their office, or with a court. It's their duty, and they can't pass it off. I have a California license, and we are trained and tested heavily on PR rules -- or at least we used to be. 2023, don't hold me on it. Refusing a case for personal reasons and refusing a case that represents a bona fide conflict of interest are two different things.
1
@daniellecruz2917 Agreed. The other person was spouting sophistry.
1
In so many pictures, Epstein looks like he's made of rubber. Like a lifelike doll, not a person.
1
@XarezX You don't see that you're crazy? The mob psychosis bubble has yet to pop?
1
@Viamii Her actual accusations? A defamation case is about speech or writing. Did you ever read the article?
1
@9395gb Doctors?? Have you carefully read your bill? Doctors are by far the least of it. You have no idea what you're talking about.
1
Depp has a RIGHT to refuse to be examined by anyone. Do you follow?
1
@ernestshackleton6965 what guy?
1
@ernestshackleton6965 Oh, I see what you said. Yeah, but calling someone online a narcissist isn't a diagnosis, it's trash talk.
1
@ernestshackleton6965 Did you see what happened? This exchange highlighted the fact that Depp refused to see any of Heard's experts in person. I'm surprised that came out. It's like the Fifth Amendment, you're not supposed to call attention to it (unless the person on the stand invokes it himself). His right to keep away from her shrink is his right. Period.
1
@ernestshackleton6965 I get it.
1
NO, Elizabeth Warren is NOT "condoning murder." Oh, and the CEOs have to charge US more because they need more bodyguards??
