Amy, you have been the preeminent journalist covering this war. You have touched my heart like no one else. Respect!!

S S Okay. Someone who states she has given birth, and has written and published a memoir claiming she gave birth, is actually lying, and is transgender, and no one noticed but you just now. Is that the correct narrative? Sure it is. Anything is possible. In fact, it has to be true if you feel it's true. Of course.
8
Too believable.
8
@terirea7743 Thank you, too.
8
Well . . . Did you join Facebook? Do you use PayPal? Are you a member of Amazon Prime? Do you have one of those Siri robots or whatever they're called? I didn't, don't, never have. Why enrich these people beyond what can't be helped?
8
I'm opposed to capital punishment but my heart is with YOU. The victim in this picture is the one whose life was taken from him.

@foreveryoung9561 Billionaires spend more on lobbying for the laws they want than they do on taxes. Then they get government contracts and buy US Treasuries, and WE owe THEM our taxes, on the contracts and interest on the national debt. Wake up. BTW, posts like this one are often shadowed. Guess why?

Adults used to have to have at least a full year of psychotherapy prior to undertaking drastic medical measures that can never be undone. Perhaps this was too rigorous, but what is happening now is too lax. Every child has a human right to preserve their future reproductive choices, to the greatest extent possible. Government should not be coercing doctors and patients, but ask yourselves why we are here.

They did a poor job standing up to demagoguery. I expected much better. I wonder if they do support free speech. The real problem could be that they don't.

As soon as we were told COVID kills the elderly and people of color, some people started rooting for the virus.
7
@letsomethingshine Since when should parents be allowed decide whether their children should be birth parents themselves someday, and to enjoy sex someday? Children are not their parents' property to do with whatever they will.
7
@letsomethingshine No, children cannot make an informed decision. They have not yet experienced erotic longing, which for many people includes the intense desire to have a birth child.
7
U of C also had a terrible reputation for neglecting the physical health of students, for decades. I knew a PhD candidate in Clinical Psychology who nearly died of pneumonia, and had to go home to California and be treated at Stanford. She returned and completed her thesis. Yes, they did this to a woman who was ABD. The Social Darwinism is rampant.
7
Perfect comment.
7
@theia1653 Happened to me. I never did open my door. They left of their own accord. I just happened to be working on a sensitive civil rights case at the moment, lol. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.

A typical side effect of puberty blockers and transsex hormones is permanent sterilization. To oppose this for minors is not unreasonable. I can't believe that a society with a long, ugly history of eugenics isn't suspicious of puberty blockers in teens, just because they are not "gender-typical." So what if they aren't? Should only cheerleaders and football players have kids? This has gotten absurd. Choice means the choice to be a birth parent someday. Some people decide to do that in their 30s and 40s, and had no idea they would want to when they were only 16.
7
@shamsheerg7519 FGM is practiced on minors. The children are forced to undergo it. That's not choice.
7
Why should anyone except an Israeli be "Israel first?" This is a tremendous show, giving voice to Jewish peace activists. Also, besides being brilliant, this woman is so pretty.
7
Pain? They got paid.
7
You are too kind. That was Stefanik fundraising, and wow did she do a good job.
7
@StuMarstonIf it needs genocide to exist, then no. BUT IT DOESN'T need genocide to exist. If you listened to a few of the many Israelis who Amy Goodman has been interviewing, you would know.
7
He'll get campaign contributions for that. Money is good. Money equals truth. It's very simple for him.
7
Amen!! Back in the 1980s, Mitterrand had a great natality policy. In his first term, PCF was part of the government (and France was flooded with CIA assets as a result). That policy prevented tens of thousands of abortions, while preserving choice and paying most of the cost of elective abortion (but ALL the cost of childbearing, for all women, and that included a clothing allowance). But no one ever talks about that. Hmm.
7
Maybe that is America First, because that is America?
7
This is what money does.
6
@velocecarriola9214 Americans don't do maps.
6
These falsehoods about Michael Ratner are part of a larger campaign to undermine the work of every true radical, especially the most effective and most deeply principled. Michael Ratner's memoir is a life-changing book, and reading it is a powerful experience. The idea is to get people not to read it.

faddiegirl The developed country with privatized medicine has the most obesity, teen pregnancy, drug and alcohol abuse, opioid addiction, and the highest infant and maternal mortality. Why haven't our market incentives worked, my dear? Developed countries with universal health care ALL have better outcomes, and longer life expectancy, and less dysfunction of every kind.
6
@Unchained_Unapologetic256 Please try coherence. Thanks.
6
@Captain-Obvious Well, when your IQ is 537 . . . 😂
6
@Curt-Gevert Ask former federal judge Kevin Sharp, who represents him.
6
@letsomethingshine Yes it is a typical side effect if started before puberty is completed, and it complicates fertility and healthy pregnancy. YES it is.
6
My respect for Amy Goodman only grows. What good fortune to be alive when she is.
6
Just what we need, a ketamine-infused foreign policy.
6
Because that is all your ability to choose to be a birth parent someday amounts to, a fashion choice.
6

6
@Operation45623 Exactly right. Where are we that anyone could think the age and birthplace requirements -- both easily verifiable -- are on a par with whether or not a person participated in an insurrection? Don't you first have to determine there was an insurrection?
6
@letsomethingshine These treatments often impair fertility, ability to enjoy sex, etc. This is a big deal. The right of adults to try to have birth children is a Universal Human Right. Your response is to throw around slogans?
6
Amy is truly the best.
6
DISAGREE. This is what President Carter needed to say to that B-grade actor and fraud Reagan. Where electing unqualified celebrities started.
6
@jfm14 It was not exactly a surprise.
6
His prior record has no bearing at all. If he was putting people in fear of serious bodily harm THIS time, then self-defense and defense of others would be proper even if he were a veritable angel who took a drug this one time, or had a spontaneous psychotic break this one time. AND if not, not. Exactly why do you think his record matters? It doesn't matter any more than his deft Michael Jackson impression on previous occasions. We don't judge the "value" of alleged victims. We judge their CONDUCT. As for the family, I agree wholeheartedly with you. Their treatment of him is very relevant to the issue presented.
6
@ralphstern2845 Who voted? For LaRiva/PELTIER in 2020, and no one in 2024, given that no third parties were allowed on the ballot in my state.
6
@robbinpapalucas4620 How does this change anything? You cannot stop these crimes by executing the perpetrators. They are insane.
6
@roselipton2113 I answered. It is ______ already.
6
What a complete liar Zelensky is. I would have never guessed this would be his pitch.
6
@ileanahernandez1709 How do you know? I don't claim it is or isn't. She left a lot out. Did the family discuss this? Did no one suggest that a young teen should not keep raptors unsupervised? Were these chicks alive? Then why wasn't it stopped? What sort of blender? The ordinary ones from the 1970s weren't capable of this -- but people with means can acquire better ones, in all likelihood. This letter was lazy and mean.
5
@MrWhitmen1981 And WHO is training engineers?
5
@itachiofthesharingan67 No classes were disrupted by demonstrators at the Northwestern campus, where the protests took place only at designated First Amendment fora. Classes were just disrupted by this suspension.
5
@letsomethingshine Laws that protect a child's future ability to have children of their own can only enhance life. It cannot be used "against me." I agree that it is a tragedy that the law has to be invoked for every obvious ethical decision. The right to found a family one day is a Universal Human Right. Read the charter. No one should interfere with that right. Only an adult can decide.
