  3. No one "threw it away", we used up the Saturns we built, and the capsules and LMs. Nobody wanted to pay for endless re-runs. LEO taught us a lot more than the 6 moon landings. But LEO after the moon didn't seem as sexy to the idiot public.

  7. Neal Swanson No, you don't know the truth. That was a denier lie. They erased the magnetic tape because back then it wasn't good for very long, they copied it to other durable media. Nothing was "lost" except the tape itself, which silly archivist museum freaks wanted for display, just to show it off. We could build another Saturn V and Apollo today, but it is old technology, and we can do it much better now.

Archivists threw a fit, but recording tape at that time faded quickly anyway! It would have been unreadable in under ten years. You can buy a copy of ALL construction plans for the Saturn V and Apollo online quite cheaply. Why don't we build more? Because it's inferior technology now, we can build a new moon rocket half the weight and with engines having twice the thrust. PS, Your god is IMAGINARY FICTiON!!

They don't NEED air to "push off of", they bring their own propellant and push off its escaping explosion. Air only gets in a rocket's way and interferes with propellant expansion.
