  7. You did more than raise your kid right - you must also be a respectful, honourable, and responsible person yourself. If you weren't all those things, she would not have wanted to live with you. Well done 👍

  10. It's often not the fault of the younger people. Far too often, the elderly person themselves is difficult to live with. Asian grandparents aren't selfish and lazy, and are clean living and respectful. They don't think babysitting is a chore, they see it as a privilege. They want to be useful and helpful. Unfortunately a lot of Westerners think of retirement as some kind of second teenager-hood. They even try to socially compete with younger generations, expecting to mix and hang out like friends. Asian elderly don't do that, ever. They will be around for help and a bit of conversation, but they're emotionally self-sufficient enough not to need social validation from people half their age. They ain't trying to join your dinner party conversations, or go to parties with you. Westerners can be painfully stupid when it comes to this stuff. They have a lot to learn, before this elderly isolation thing has a hope of being fixed.

  11. It takes much more than just having children. You have to earn their care by being an honourable, stable, dependable, responsible, and respectful parent.
