One of the best, highest rated podcasts in the world behind JRE, hosted by a JRE stand-in host, is The No Agenda Show, and John and Adam do it over SKYPE and it sounds amazing, voice only. They've done it this way for a decade. I don't need to see them. They're in different states, they never travel or host the show in the same location, there's no need to, we have the internet! $100k to relocate a set is probably 100K more than most podcasts have ever spent on a set at all.

I have friends and coworkers for YEARS that I have no clue if they're married, single, straight, gay, in a 36 member polucule, or whatever, BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT ME, so it's not MY business. MYSTERY is far more interesting than knowing every damn thing. Maybe it's a Midwest thing. Now if you ASK then sure, I do actually want to hear about your significant other(s) or the 15 woman roster you're slaying, IF I ask. Otherwise think of it like underwear: wear whatever crazy drawers you want, or none at all, just don't flash them in public.

  12. I'd argue that anytime you KNOW there's a camera on you, EVERY action you take is performative. The only way to capture a genuine 'outburst' or meltdown on video is surreptitiously. I would give a lot more credence to one of these car meltdowns if it was video from an unrelated bystander recording it because they saw someone hiding out in their car freaking out. It's NOT normal behavior to WANT your freakout publicized, because a real freakout is never flattering.

Because turns out, chemistry plays a pretty DAMN BIG role in, well, the entire operation of a body. It's the source code of reality. No doctor has any start of an excuse not to be a chemistry expert, any less than I do, as a water hydrologist/chemist for my water department. Water chemistry can and does fill entire libraries on it's own, I've studied it professionally for a decade, with a degree, and still learn more daily.

I like the idea of inviting her along to something I was already doing, that way if something goes wrong, meh, I was already doing this alone anyway, so what? No emotions invested, no getting ready time wasted, because I don't do anything different to get ready for a date than I would to leave the house for any reason. Don't ask her out, tell her you're going out and invite her to follow, if so great, if not well that's awesome too.
