@Starsnbars. In others words, you haven't got a source, have you?
3
@Avalanche.. As my old history tutor used to say, 'When people resort to insults, it generally means that they have no actual arguments.' In your sad case, even the insult isn't much of one. Your print of 'der bannertrager' needs polishing, by the way.
3
@normanstrongbow9335 Perhaps the United States regards Canada in the same light as China regards Taiwan? Only joking, I think!
3
'Stupidity, uselessness and deceit' are not only desirable qualities in a politician, they are essential requirements.
3
@evolassunglasses4673 Actually, the French & British declared war in an attempt to put a halt to German military aggression.
3
@wjf0ne Trying to get rational thought from a neo is about as likely to succeed as trying to teach a cat to play chess.
3
No, you are wrong. The 'Irish' aren't. The Irish government is, however.
3
@jonathansimmons5353 You mean like other legends, like the Werewolf or the Vampire?
3
@TheAsa1972 You mean like Joe Stalin? Was he called a good guy? Moreover, how is your comment relevant to anything?
3
@Rose-zw2oe You clearly didn't watch the 'documentary' did you?
3
She apparently came from that hotbed of sub-Saharan African culture, Cyprus. Odd that David has never accepted, or even commented upon, the research from the Crick Institute.
3
@daviddavidson2357 Switzerland & Sweden were in a totally different position, in that large German armies were on their borders. That situation certainly did not apply to the Republic. I did not suggest that the Republic should have declared war, but the example of Portugal could easily have been followed. Portugal was officially neutral, but gave the Allies access to bases in the Azores. de Valera could have done exactly the same. The treatment of some Irish citizens who fought for the allied cause was, surely, disgraceful?
3
The 'smashing the gangs' project is going well then?
3
This individual seems to possess all the attributes we have come to expect from a 21st century Honourable Member of the House of Commons.
3
I wonder how many people were alarmed by the performance of Jonathan Brearley, CEO of OfGem, on Martin Lewis's programme on Tuesday evening? It seems he is just as fanatical about net zero as his leader, Ed Miliband. Indeed many of the comments he made might have been simply echoes of his master's voice. Still I suppose showing loyalty to your boss is probably a good idea if you wish to keep your salary, alleged to be in the region of £300k per year.
3
@trevorhoward2254 The tragedy is that someone like Olusoga is lauded by the BBC as he fits nicely into their agenda, yet a real academic historian like David Starkey has been cancelled. Heaven alone knows how my old University Professor at Manchester, M.R.D. Foot, would have gone on, especially since Olosuga is now Professor of Public History at the University of Manchester. Still, as an alumnus, I can at least stop making donations as a result!
3
@trevorhoward2254 Being an alumnus doesn't really provide much status, as there are thousands. I think the University see us as a potential source of easy money. I did reply to one of their approaches expressing my concerns about Olusoga's credibility, among other matters. Never had a reply.
3
Probably the best you might get from the BBC is a one-sided account of the Benin Expedition, describing how the brutal imperialist British looted that noble. liberal, peace-loving nation, and stole their bronzes. You should not expect any information on the events leading up to the expedition, of course.
3
@EuropesLastStand Really? I never much rated Ernst Klimt meself.
3
Nonsense. It is documented that he was born in Todmorden.
3
@jimjones-bk2is Look up Jessica Allen and Eliza Moore ... For a start.
3
It seems that Magna Carta really did die in vain.
3
Be fair though. He was very impressive on that motor bike in 'The Great Escape.'
3
Don't worry. Tarquin & Jemima will still have daddy's trust fund to rely on.
3
George Canning managed 119 days, so she has some distance to go. Canning wasn't removed, by the way. He died.
3
@slinkiegirl2001 Perhaps at fisticuffs?
3
'Bristol in Tudor times was an important port, and there would have been many black sailors in and around the docks.' Really? In Tudor times? Just because you would like to think so? I am sure you can cite absolutely impeccable contemporary sources? Which is more than the bless'ed David ever does.
3
And political opponents of the state, the disabled, Slavs, Gypsies, Homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, and Jews. Certainly, your hero knew what to do with anti-social types. He recruited them into the Waffen ss.
3
'Wives?' 'WIVES!!' You sexist rascal. Don't you mean 'partners?'
3
@sumtingwong9563 'If you look at British achieve film and documentaries on the Great War you will not see a single Asian soldier.' The word is 'archive' by the way. Actually you do. Perhaps you only watch the archive footage which suits your opinion?
3
Possibly not so much vacuous as mendacious. The number of five star reviews on Amazon suggests that Mr, Holding will profit greatly from putting his name to this.
3
' There's bin a muhda, Mr. Taggart! 'No, just a bus with very sharp wheels.'
3
What was Christmas? Not long ago the Birmingham Council abolished Christmas and substituted Winterval. Apparently some people found Christmas offensive. I wonder who?
3
Mell is a bit old now, but 'Blazing Kraals' might make a good working title?
3
He has far more videos about other matters relating to WW2.
3
@paullancaster7066 Her gender was never in doubt. Her origins were originally based on a questionable skull reconstruction technique, upon which people like Olusoga and Mary Beard promply seized, perhaps because it suited their prejudices? Once the DNA analysis proved that her origin was much more likely to have been Cyprus, both Beard & Olusoga have stoutly maintained, in Edward Gibbon's words, 'a mournful & solitary silence' on the matter.
3
@FrostSpike The viewing figures for the last series were dire.
3
@cnci29 Actually, Attlee stated that Indian Independence was to take place 'NOT LATER THAN' June, 1948. He said this when he announced the appointment of Mountbatten to succeed Wavell as Viceroy. Indeed, people should be aware of history before commenting. His actual statement was "His majesty's government wish to make it clear that it is their definite intention to take the necessary steps to effect the transference of power into responsible Indian hands by a date not later than June, 1948."
3
@bremnersghost948 Poor old Sean. Since Sharpe, he seems to have a habit in ending up dead in almost every part he plays.
3
I am surprised that you had time to post such a comment, Mayor Khan. I thought you were far too busy running Londonabad.
3
@NewRose. 'David Irving?!' Oh dear.
3
A shame that so few people know that the real reason Operation Sealion was never attempted was rather more mundane. The absolute supremacy of the Royal Navy in Home Waters, which the Germans could neither overcome nor even challenge.
3
@THX-ic8yw He did get the Dresden death toll wildly wrong. Post-war German research totally discredited his claims.
3
I understand that strenuous efforts are being made to 'decolonise' the curriculum. The imperialist concept that 2 + 2 = 4 is to be replaced by 2 + 2 = whatever you want it to be, and the term 'pi' by the less offensive 'goat curry.'
3
I don't think that they hate themselves, only the peasantry, as they view us, which they need to keep in order.
3
@englishpatriot9464 Amazing how quickly the neos slither onto here.
3
@MrMjp58 Who will ever forget the climactic scene at the of the BBC documentary about Waterloo. when, just as they are about to overwhelm Wellington's army and march triumphantly to Brussels, the Old Guard is charged in the flank and routed by a Zulu Impi?
3
Doubtless, Deputy Chief Constable Jason Hogg, and the Superintendent, will find their careers substantially accelerated by demonstrating their unswerving loyalty to the agenda.
3
How dare you use the word 'dog?' The dog is an impure animal in Islam. A member of our police service will be round shortly to check your thinking. Once, of course, he has finished praying.
3
@williamtell6750 Perhaps because a series of unsubstantiated claims does not amount to an argument? Especially when they apparently use Badawi's book as a base.
