@CH-vb5kr I am not disagreeing with you, only pointing out what would actually happen. You surely don't think that any of these creatures have any concept of ethical behaviour, do you?
3
This cannot be true. She has investigated herself and concluded that there is nothing in it.
3
@Snow_Dog-px1qu 'Never heard of them being brave.' Then you need to read about the New Zealand armed forces in both world wars. Perhaps, like certain other nations, the replacement of education by indoctrination has been even more effective than many wiser people feared.
3
How about a history of t'flat cap? Stephen Fry could narrate it.
3
Will he, with his desperately poor eyesight, be able to drive all the way from Barnard Castle to London?
3
Priti Patel says a lot of things. None of them, however, become reality.
3
@dilipshah5882 Perhaps you didn't read my earlier answer? Ehy are you blaming the British for a solution proposed by the UN and rejected by Arab states?
3
Sadly, no. He squandered it all on vast numbers of partly-subsidised meals in the Commons restaurant.
3
I expect that a foreign, tax avoiding, multi-millionaire will go down with the (currently) tory northern constituencies like the proverbial lead balloon.
3
Not possible. He and his crew are simply obeying orders. Befehl ist befehl!
3
@kerryneylan7978 Indeed. I recall that Grant Shapps was appalled. However, seemingly not quite appalled enough actually to do anything. He has received his reward for his inactivity, however, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy from 25 October 2022.
3
@johnmcmahon5145 Sorry, but that simply isn't true. The Scottish Referendum was in 2014, and the EU Referendum was in 2016.
3
In common with many CELEBRIDEES, the wealthier Brian gets, the more left wing he becomes.
3
This is most worrying. If we don't have Gary to say 'that player knocked that ball thing into that net thing' how will we ever know what happened?
3
Perhaps they underestimated the cost of the statue of the hijab wearing woman that they are building in Smethwick?
3
I imagine dear Priti will be too busy preparing for her new career outside politics, and eagerly filling her boots during her last few days in an influential position in politics.
3
Apparently, his Generals detested being in a small, closed, room with him for staff meetings. I wonder why?
3
@tre243t 'I think not eating the flesh of others is sensible,' You have an opinion, just as others have their own opinions. The difference seems to be that you regard it as virtuous to seek to impose your opinions upon others, by making fatuous comments about torture & abuse.
3
@PeterPieterson Indeed. Rather like trying to persuade a dung beetle to stop rolling dung. It will not happen.
3
I didn't think he was 'leaving.' I thought he had been sacked. Didn't front-line politics rather leave him? Poor old Sunak. Just when things seem at their worst, one of the most detested politicians in Britain comes out in support of him. Still, with a bit of luck the old Green Card will still be valid.
3
@disaffected_malcontent Do you know what a 'debate' actually is? Supposedly, it involves a courteous exchange of opinions or arguments. I have never seen 'debate' defined as 'a shouting match.'
3
@disaffected_malcontent But if he is too 'grand' to listen to the arguments put forward by a former colleague in government, is he likely to listen to any concerns expressed by members of the lower orders who don't have a billionaire daddy-in-law?
3
@thedailyjab662 Shouldn't the questions be asked after the opinion has been presented? All she seems to do is interrupt in an attempt to prevent the argument being made.
3
@thedailyjab662 Perhaps I have been fortunate, in that the debates I have witnessed, and in which I have participated, have always been more civilised, in that remarks were heard in full, and responses were made after these remarks had been completely expressed. Frankly, the need continually to interrupt a speaker has always seemed to be either bad mannered, or perhaps merely an attempt to prevent an opinion being expressed. Perhaps my standards are simply too high for you to accept. Oh well, so be it.
3
@thedailyjab662 But this wasn't in Parliament, where civilised standards rarely apply. This was supposed to be a debate on 'Politics Live.' Admittedly, the debate was badly chaired, but that really was no excuse. You appear, perhaps understandably, to be attempting to move off topic.
3
@thedailyjab662 No, I wrote 'the debates I have witnessed, and in which I have participated, have always been more civilised, in that remarks were heard in full, and responses were made after these remarks had been completely expressed.' Perhaps you might consider what happens in Parliament as 'debating.' I don't, I consider them to be shouting matches. As I wrote earlier, perhaps my standards are too high. They do, indeed, seem to be rather higher than those you seem happy to accept. I will not be commenting further. Whether you choose so to do is entirely your own choice.
3
@CH-vb5kr Fine, but what would it do, and how would it differ from the lower house?
2
@CH-vb5kr 'Every Year?' Constant election campaigning. Do you really think that a good idea? Moreover, any member who is de-elected will immediately be claiming compensation, as current MPs do. How every member of the current HoL votes is already a matter of public record.
2
My sympathy for Mr. Neil has increased somewhat. Imagine spending all those years at the BBC in a locked room with no-one with whom to converse!
2
If Johnson was serious, he would introduce the Conservative policies upon which he was elected.
2
THE RNLI are duty bound to do what they are doing. They are not the problem. The problem is the people in government who put them in this position.
2
@chrismith251 Black puddings and chip butties? You posh sod! We only ever got a chip butty (one) for us Christmas dinner.
2
I am sure that OFCOM will be down on LBC like the proverbial ton of bricks. I also believe in the Loch Ness Monster, of course.
2
It really doesn't what Labour politicians say or do. They will win the next General Election simply because they are NTTP (Not the Tory Party) even if they don't have any actual policies.
2
Having listened to a few debates recently, I can understand why MPs feel the need to be intoxicated in the chamber of the House. The standard is hardly that of Demosthenes.
2
For a minor figure who became chairman of what amounts to a dining club for toffs, hasn't the lad done well for himself? Moreover, doesn't the expression on his face show how much he is enjoying every minute of it?
2
Only if you ask David Olusoga for his opinion.
2
There are some older people in the UK who remember how someone called hitler 'expressed himself' in Poland in 1939.
2
@Land-of-reason That is the theory. The same theory which denies the existence of political parties. In reality, how many people who vote actually even know the names of the candidates?
2
Doubtless, members of Kent constabulary will be round en masse in the next few days to 'check his thinking' as I believe the term to be.
2
Don't you just long to wake up tomorrow morning, switch on the TV, and hear someone in a military uniform announcing that, in the current crisis, the armed forces have taken temporary control of the nation. Oh, and those objects hanging from those lamp posts in large numbers are politicians of various parties?
2
Not liking Britain isn't a problem. He doesn't live in Britain, he lives in London.
2
@philyew3617 Quite correct. I apologise unreservedly, and am appropriately contrite.
2
Disgraceful! Someone dared to criticise. The sooner he gives himself an armed protection team to eliminate these peasants, the better.
2
Carole has calculated that, if 100 people each give £1000 to a go-fund me page in support of her, that will total £42,000 Shows what you can achieve with a third in Engineering.
2
Are you? It still doesn't justify your bad grammar.
2
Actually, the BBC is totally secure. After the next General Election, there will be no doubt at all that the licence fee will continue. After all, Sir Keir is hardly likely to set himself at odds with his own Propaganda Ministry.
2
I am deeply shocked that you should argue with the noble Lady Nugee. Don't you know that such people are better than we commoners? As Ronnie Corbett said long ago 'I know my place.'
2
She didn't actually debate anything. She simply shouted 'I am not a scientist' or 'people are dying!' incessantly.
2
He won't get back into his box until he gets the peerage he so desperately craves.
