What is the betting that Wigston becomes the next Chief of Defence Staff?
3
@trapset1539 One thing in favour of the new mine. Ed Milliband is opposed to it!
3
@michaelcoward1902 Actually, little chap, the word 'probably' really means that I lack sufficient knowledge or information to form a definitive conclusion, but, in common with everyone else, choose to express an opinion. What lie have I committed?
3
I rather suspect that he hopes to become the next Chief of Defence Staff.
3
This is a specific kind of coal intended for a specific purpose. Others might not be.
3
What did the British actually do to India? Hospitals, roads, railways, education, a professional civil service, an enlightened administration, and a functioning democracy. Would a sub-continent of perpetually warring autocratic Princely States really have been preferable?
3
Indeed. There is no reason why he shouldn't run the Tory Party from one of his homes in California.
3
No, it isn't. No, it wasn't.
3
Indeed. The 'checks and balances' are working well in Canada, aren't they?
3
Nonsense.
3
Grossly unfair. The Dear Leader has already said that he and his lackeys will no longer accept clothes in exchange for favours. Future bribes should be in cash only, and sent to Sue Gray, who will ensure that the money will be distributed discreetly.
3
@pygmalion1963 There is no record of her working for any 'American Corporation.' She worked in the Bank of England, and then in the Retail Arm of HBOS. She has no experience of the way in which the Private Sector actually functions and, seemingly, even less interest in it. By the way, academic qualifications are nice to have, but are of limited relevance without actually, practical, hands on, knowledge. Unfortunately, this inconvenient fact seems to apply to most politicians these days.
3
@WhatYaL00kingAt I find that replying to so obvious a troll serves little purpose.
3
@anthonyhuerta8780 I have found that people who urge others to do 'research' tend to be the ones who have done least themselves. The problem is, as a naval historian for many years, I have been able to do a considerable amount of research into 'Old Reliable' and as a result I know, beyond doubt, that the idea of an insurance scam was invented by Robin Gardiner to support a rather silly book written in 1995, which has no credibility whatsoever, however much conspiracy theorists might fantasise to the contrary.
3
@vincentvangogh8092 Define 'Far Right.' By the way, 'Someone with whose opinions I disagree' is not an acceptable definition.
3
@exodus-kj4gz I think that the original post was intended to be ironic?
3
No one from White Star or Harland & Wolff ever made such a comment. One of many myths.
3
Because the hardest train to get off is the gravy train.
3
@TomTomicMic Giving the State the power over the life and death of an individual is never a good idea. Whatever the initial intention, it will inevitably be extended. All for the good of the State, of course.
3
I believe that Angela Rayner has replied that she 'doesn't recognise' the country Vance described. Isn't that the problem? Dear Angela and her political friends, as well as her political opponents, live in their comfortable privileged bubble, and insist on remaining blind to what is becoming increasing self-evident to we peasants who inhabit the real world.
3
Think of a number, double it, add five, and then put billion after it. I believe that the technique was inherited from Diane Abbott.
2
Yes, dear. Of course it is.
2
Indeed. My late father was, and forever remains, merely a 'D-Day dodger, out in Italy' in the eyes of such commentators.
2
'How is that for a theory?' Actually, an idiotic one, with absolutely nothing to support it. How is that for an answer?
2
Grossly unfair. I know a recent graduate who has a First in Ethnic Dance. She is the best shelf stacker in our local supermarket by a mile.
2
I wonder if he promised a free Camper Van to every SNP MSP who agreed to support him?
2
Don't worry. They will. Exactly how will that benefit the British economy, or indeed anyone in Britain?
2
Amazing the number of fools who watch a conspiracist video and swallow it whole.
2
But wasn't it brilliant to see the Dear Leader on BBC, having to place a wreath in front of a statue of Sir Winston Churchill? Evwn if Lord Alli did give him a new suit and overcoat for the occasion.
2
@DeneMonkey Until, as in Canada, it 'evolves.'
2
The alleged 'Armed Forces' Minister is an irrelevance. He will be gone in a matter of weeks.
2
As the ship was called Titanic, that won't happen.
2
@YasN82 Don't be an even bigger fool!
2
Britannic was only launched in February, 1914.
2
There is no such documentary. There is a faked image of the letters M & P, which first appeared in 2000 or so, and has been either disowned or ignored by every expedition. Largely because the CGI is so amateurish, by the way.
2
There might be a few bawbees in it for ye.
2
Don't be a silly boy.
2
@oneoflokis As best I recall, he didn't send people to jail to safeguard his salary & bonus.
2
@honved1 But as I said. They were not in Normandy. My father had been in North Africa since 1942, and landed at Salerno in September, 1943. I don't recall the slightest reference to that last September. It seems that he and his comrades of several allied nations were, and still remain, mere 'D-Day dodgers, out in Italy.'
2
When Sky News is critical, then things must be bad. No wonder Rachel Reeves bottled out of discussing her Budget with Martin Lewis on Thursday evening. Apparently, she was washing her hair, or somthing.
2
@rosiered2357 The point is, his enemies would have used one of these arguments either way, so Chris Bryant simply wanted to have things both ways.
2
@randomdaveUK Had he not resigned, he would have remained an MP until Autumn 2024, and the people who now condemn him for resigning would be screaming that he should have resigned.
2
Doubt it. It is a sensible response to hugely changed circumstances.
2
Quite. Wars almost inevitably end at the negotiating table, not on the battlefield. Quite why so many people seem eager for perpetual war in Europe is a mystery, unless they got the idea from '1984.'
2
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't he say, in answer to a question to a journalist, only that it could have been?
2
A similar number died aboard both, but only three survived from Hood. The only slight consolation was that those from Titanic died uselessly, whilst those in Hood died doing their duty and serving their country.
2
Unfortunately, this 'massive deficit' has not been confirmed by any credible financial institution. Must we take the word of the Dear Leader & Rachel from Accounts?
2
Surely, the date of birth on his CV alone should have been something of a clue?
2
TomOBedlam-b2h Alarmism based, with good reason, on the alarming events in Canada, perhaps?
2
@KILLER.KNIGHT HS2 is a passenger only line. Building something in the 2020s and 2030s which might have been a good idea in the 1990s really is not wisdom. The alternative, of re-opening the old Great Central line as a freight & passenger line with the same standards of the current west & east coast mail lines, thus relieving the pressure on both at a fraction of the cost, seems never to have been considered. In short, is it really worth spending over £100 billion in order to get from London to Birmingham twenty minutes quicker in ten years' time?
