  2. It took 9 or 10 years to trace the origin of SARS 1, so I doubt the story of the window of opportunity closing. Your interpretation of the report is not at all the same as that of virologists on TWIV, the report ruled out a human altered virus but had insufficient evidence for a lab leak. After SARS the Wuhan lab was set up in order to study viruses in preparation for another spillover, so the fact of the lab in a huge city with live animal markets, is neither here nor there as a data point.

  5. As soon as Pfizer had the sequence they were able to propose a clinical trial. Then they had to manufacture the rna sequences and prepare doses while recruiting people for the trials. There is no weird stuff here. The science of rna vaccine platforms had been in development for close to a decade before the SARS CoV-2 sequence was published. Everything was in place and the literature provides historical proof.

  6. Thar Lancet paper, I dunno. I would take that as a maybe. It is sort of logical, but the approach is too crude. It would make more sense to try the technique with many different starting points in different countries and compare.

  7. If one goes into a hospital say for an appointment, what should one do upon returning. I would wash my hands. I would want to undress and put everything into the washing machine. I would carefully remove mask and goggles and then wash my hands. After that I would take a shower. Then disinfect knobs of washer and anything I might have touched. We are on the cusp here. It has not actually taken off in Canada. At my age I have a one in ten chance of dying so I want to hang on for a vaccine.

  11. In the lab over the last couple of years lab mice had to adapted to have human Ace 2 receptors in order that experiments with Sars Cov 2 could be done. Does an experiment with omicron in a lab mouse work now? Without changing the Ace 2 receptors?

  15. tests just need to be good enough to pick up infected people. If they are on paper strips they can be very cheap. Daily testing will pick up errors quickly.

  17. Somebody just told me that many people are taking artemisia for malaria in African countries? Artemisia annua. Could that be a factor? Also, Isn't South africa about as far from the equator as Southern Europe?
