  7. TaxiDriver 101 There is nothing to understand about TDK, as it has little intelligence and no depth. No superhero movie has any depth, as they are always made as blind popcorn entertainment for the masses and casual moviegoers who do not understand anything about film. Taxi Driver & Goodfellas are indeed both masterpieces, so it leads me to believe your knowledge only seems to fail you in this particular film, which is quite weird, but perhaps later you will find out that TDK does indeed barely reach the depth of a peanut and thus become convinced of its average quality.

  8. TaxiDriver 101 Cinema isn't about how much 'fun' it is, it should be artistically profound. And indeed Star Wars is a mediocre ( original trilogy too ) kiddy mess of a movie & Die Hard is alright but in the end no more than a simplistic hero saves the day and kills evil villain kind of plot. I reckon i am in the minority in hating TDK if you count casual moviegoers, but as we all know everybody with some knowledge of cinema and its contents will never rate TDK anything over 6 as more is just plain ridiculous looking at it from an objective point of view.

  9. TaxiDriver 101 That is not true. Any person who likes TDK is, in cinema terms, an irrelevant person. This is further enhanced by the fact that most of the people that put it in their top 10s consists only of 2000+ nonsense titles. Critics do not count as they are paid off, and every relevant person will put TDK where it belongs, at the bottom of their watched list.

  10. TaxiDriver 101 You fail to understand. My judgment is strictly objective which means my opinion indeed DOES closer resemble the truth when compared to the casual TDK lover. TDK & Star Wars are well known mainstream movies that are very kid friendly and this speaks to the unknowing masses perfectly, but objectively both are not anything special. Furthermore, people that like TDK do not really understand what they like about it most of the time, since it is generally only liked because it is popular and nothing else. Whiplash is also nothing special. Only objective voters ( me ) are relevant.

Besides, your almost carbon copy of IMDb lists and average mainstream lists suggests you are indeed highly influenced by other people opinion's about it. So you believe someone that has the Room on #1 all time is supposed to be taken seriously because that is their 'opinion'? That's being delusional at its finest and yes that is ofcourse also why primarily only left wing hypocrites preach that film is subjective, since both are extremely delusional concepts.

You base your verdict on the quality of the acting ( How far into the characters do the actors go, what is their emotional range etc etc. ), the screenplay ( intelligent and original dialogue, an interesting narrative structure instead of the usual linear one ), cinematography ( camera angles to create beautiful stills either indoors with fantastic set design or outdoors with gorgeous backdrops ), music, moral ambiguity, symbolisms ( Returning plot points told in a subtle way ), & in less important proportions costume design or CGI if used.

Facts are not widely agreed upon since a lot of kiddies such as yourself base movie on terms of brainless entertainment, which is ofcourse a joke. Also you cannot state 'Kids these days' while you think TDK is a masterpiece, that just obliterates your statement, since TDK has kiddies as a target group ( Presumably you, since i doubt you are over 18 ), so don't spew this anti milennial nonsense even though you are a progressive liberal fantard. The fact is some opinions are factual and some are also better than others, and that really depends on how known you are in the aspects of cinema. I don't respect people's opinions if that opinion is shit, and that is simply the way it should be, as i stated before respect is something that has to be earned. A film is always a film, no matter how you try to twist or turn it, it is always the same. Some casual moviegoers dislike certain genres for no obvious reason, but for objective ones such as myself this matters none. I judge everything on actual quality and face value, as this is the way they are supposed to be rated. Ofcourse the true factors on how casuals rate a film differs, but what's the point in taking people seriously that can't even backup their opinions with argumentation? Thus cinema, and art in general is completely OBJECTIVE, and it is only in the common people's feeble minds that they turn it into subjectivity, but since they can't back their opinion with relevant argumentation, their opinion is not to be taken seriously.

This means their list is a purely subjective one based on their own personal prejudices. GWTW features the most annoying protagonist ever created & has non existent character relatability. It should never be considered on a list of the greatest ever made. Neither should TDK which you stated, but Shawshank is in fact an actual masterpiece and does deserve the praise it gets.

Horribly inept screenplays, wooden acting, idiotic jump cut editing, no coherence whatsoever, failure of anything remotely looking like a narrative etc. He's terrible. Especially Breathless. And yeah, my top 5 is Spielberg, Kubrick, Scorsese, Kurosawa & Leone, in order from 5 to 1.
