They lost trade partners, they lost their face, Their army is now viewed as a joke, they lost lot of young men needed to repopulate the country which already had issues with lack of male population, they gave their arch enemy 2 strong allies more, their economy suffered big time as well. No amount of land grab in said region would help them to come back from the hole they themselves dug into. The region they try to gain wouldn't even cover the loss of money they had due to war.
