Given the G.I.L.T.I. tax would you suggest an American in the midst of say a phased withdrawal from the US prior to renunciation using a Hong Kong company which is always fully offshore from Hong Kong, but not claiming offshore status with the Inland Revenue Department until after renunciation to avoid G.I.L.T.I. even after that scheduled 2025 rate increase, or would you advise making the offshore exemption claim from the start & just paying G.I.L.T.I. plus any additional taxes due from the added salary or profit distributions needed to cover the tax? I know that's an in the weeds question, but...
