If you have been through most of rural America & a fairly large percentage of older cities ie the rust belt, the US is a third-world country with a Gucci belt.

Joe Biden is not going to raise taxes. The August recess is almost here already & next year is an election year. There is a zero percent chance of a tax increase under this dysfunctional Congress & after the midterms the Democrats will be in the minority in the House & Senate again. Neither of the wholly owned subsidiary parties of major corporations, ie Dems & Reps will ever raise taxes in the US, except on workers.

@mikenephilly my aunt who is 70 & just started collecting social security sounds like you. She gets less than $900 a month, but has an offer to buy her trailer which sits on land she is being evicted from which is owned by her former employer for $28k. She cannot really afford to live anywhere in the US. I have advised her to buy a life annuity with the purchase money for the trailer. That would put her at around $1100 a month of income. On that small amount of money she would be eligible to retire in many South & Central American countries. She worked with a lot of Spanish speaking migrants to the US on the farm where she worked her entire career, so she has enough Spanish to get by & the cost of living there would mean she would live far better. The Philippines, Thailand, & Vietnam are also on the list of places she might retire more comfortably on so little money. If the Philippines revive their retirement visa it may be a viable option for residency. The medical care would be more affordable in those countries too.
