  1. Tension exist because Poland do noy accept dictatorship and brutal regime of Lukashenko. Last conflict is based on fasification of presidential election in Bielarus. Lukashenko is building tension to create myth of danger from "West" and Poland for Bielarus independence, when in reality Russia want just swallow that country.He staged a influx of "asylium seekers" and treat Poland with Bielarus military power supported by Russia, Both Putin and Lukashenko are talking about preventive attacks on Poland "if it pose a treat " for Russia or Bielarus. Nothing strange that with historic expirience Poland want to modernize army.

  2.  @chumanyou  Not occiupied but fought and gain by Poland in war with Bolsheviks. Bolsheviks agree to give up that lands in Riga Peace Treaty. And if you want claim right to this was own by Soviets, look on maap from half of 18th century. Also Lenin give uo claim for this lands because he state that partition of Polish-Lithuenian Commonwealth was illegal. Soviets have no claim or rights for this lands. As Russia today have no rights for Crimea or Eastern Ukraine.

  3. I read somewhere that when Germans undestood how effective were Allied and Soviet repair units, they shells enemy tanks so long as they caught fire. Or they blow up any tank that they need to abandone. That way that tanks could not be repaired.

  4.  @andrei666  In reality Lenin with Stalin kill more Soviet citizens than Hitler. And in anyway USSR was social paradise. In 1914 Russsia was closer to modernization and becoming 1st industrial power in Europe then anytime under communist regime. Stalin have to steal from Soviet citizens and kill millions to buildiheavy industries producing mainly military products. In the same time level of welfare of soviet citizens drop drasticly. And for your information USSR died because communism do not works.

  8.  @ТомасКатц  But Soviets treat Poles just like Germans treat Jews before they start proper Holocaust after Wansee Conference. Poles were deported in mass to Kazahstan and Siberia. Polish, Ukrainian and Bielarusian inteligence were killed in NKVD terror in 1939-1941. NKVD commit the same crimes as a Gestapo. Jews that runs from German occiupied teritories were send back there in line of agreements done by Third Reich and USSR after fall of Poland.

  9.  @real-history-online  Long debunked lie of Soviet propaganda. Red Cross comision in 1920's study this accusation and concluded that there was no killing on starving prisoners of Red Army. Polish governmrnt did everything what can be done to provide food and acomodations for Soviet POW. Not mention that big numbers of this soldies do not want back to "Soviet paradise" and stay in Poland or emigrated. Not mentioned that war between Poland and Soviet Russia nwas not about teritory, but was caused by Soviet push to Germany, to support communist uprising. Poland was to be adde to new coomunist empire. Soviets even created puppet government. And as hitsory shows Bielarusians and Ukrainians sufer much more under communism than in that "evil" Poland. Report of Lucien Brunel from Red Cross nr 219 from 15th November 1920 and report of Leauge of Nation written by Frederick Norman from 11th December of 1920 state that Soviet accusation were false. Today even Russian historians agree that there war no such crimes against Soviet POW.

Indeed Ukrainians are decendents of culture if Kievan Rus, Russians are just split of this medieval civilisation. Moscov just rise as a Mongol collaborant, selling other Slavs to thier masters. For most history that lands were not controlled from Moscow. Only in the end of 18th century Russia gain that control. Historicly Russian domination over Ukraine and Bielarus is shorter than existing of Kievan Rus and Polish-Lithuenian Commonwealt. Not mention that Polish, Czech, Russian, Ukrainian and many others languages are derivitive of one family of languages but they are different. You can't say that they are the same language.

After Winter War Finland have no real choice. To stay independent they were forced to ally with Hitler, because Stalin show that he can't be trusted, when he invade Poland, annex Baltic States and force Romania to give up borderd regions.

What with traning and technology provided by Third Reich for USSR in exchange for raw materials? Not without reason Third Reich sell military technology to USSR, planes, tanks and even crusier Lützow. Cooperation was done again after 23rd of August 1939.

You mean that Poland's government and Bielarusian regime are not in conflict? Or that crisis is only based on Russian strategic plans? Becuase there are real conflict between Poland and Lukashenko regime. Yes it is part of strategic tensions between Russia and every single neibours of Putin's regime. But still main instigator in this "migrant crisis" is Minsk. There is no reason why Poland would want invade Bielarus, nor strategic or economic. But taking rising agresive rethoric of Putin and invasion on Ukraine, only reasonable action for Poland is investing in military assets. Lukashenko can only keep his power if he create picture that he is only one who protects Bielarus from Poland and in the same time he can't fall under total control of Moscow. To be independent ruler for Lukashenko means to be in conflict with Poland (because he need external enemy) and do not lose power to Putin. Yes Russia is keeping old Soviet rethoric and even older tsar's propaganda, but in case of this crisis, main problem is with current Bielarusian dictator.

There were local governments that were destroyed by Bolsheviks that incorpaorated by force that lands. Ukrainian government of Petrula did not want to join to Soviet Russia! 3. Your logic is claim that any treaty in Soviet mind should be valid only to point that Soviet can breake it. 4. Poland refuse to join to Germany in attack on USSR. USSR repaid makeing a deal with Hitler to invade Poland.

  16.  @Leonid_Brezhnev1  Yes they did. Poland was main enemy for USSR for most of 1920's and 1930's. Mobilisation was done insuch poor way, not because wasn't planed but because USSR biurocracy was so inept. It is not a case of lack of plans, but poor execution.

  19.  @ruthlesstruth8639  Sweden was neutral in WW2 and by any law neutral ships are protected from attacks outside of conflict zone. USSR did not declare war on Sweden! Attacking ships of neutral side without controling cargo is war crime. In some cases this attacks were done on Swedish teritorial waters! As example, Royal Navy control all ships going to German controled coast in WW1 and do the same in in WW2. Royal Navy do not sunk in purpose any ship without controling real status of the ship. Neutral units were turned back or escorted to british controled port only when there was evidence for providing trade with Geramany. Many times Axis ships used neutral flag to avoid RN control. Red Navy did not act in that standard.Soviets attack trade ships even without evidence that they going to Germany or controled by Germans ports.

  22. Plus Soviets taken 240-250 000 Polish POW. Over 100 000 are still missing. Not only 20 000 officers. They never left USSR and in many cases there are evidence that they died in Soviet slave work camps.

  25.  @impaugjuldivmax  You mean personal union between Polish Kingdome and Great Duchy of Lithuenia. That sate that Lithuenia is ruled by Lithuenian Great Prince. Poland as such take control over that lands much later in 16th century. You really should read more about Polish-Lithuenian unions and Commonwealth. Integration of both states take much longer time and was more confederacy than centralised monarchy.

Not to secure anything, just to gain new lands by agression. Not mention that for whole time 1921-1939 Soviet Union send terrorist groups into Poland territory. Read about Soviet raid on Stołpce, one of many state terrorism executed by USSR. Nothing compared was done by Poles against USSR. Not mention genocidal action taken by Stalin, called Polish Opertion done by NKVD. That is why noboy in Poland in 1939 want any Soviet troops in Poland, because for nearly 20 years that troops were part of communist terror against Polish citizens and Poles living in USSR.

  28. People who give excuse for Soviet invasion/intervention should ask themselves, why Hitler invade Poland in the first place? The main cause was that the Polish Government refuse to attack USSR with Germans. Attack on Poland open road to USSR for Nazi regime. While narration of securing of buffer zone make no sense. If Stalin declares that he will send supply and war materials for Poland just like the USA for UK in 1940-41, that could deter Hitler from war. Even if Poles do not want Soviet troops in Polish borders Hitler would lose any real chance to wage war, hostile neutrality would put Hitler's plan in jeopardy. It is simple economy.Instead USSR provide much needed materials for German war economy, which were needed after Fall Weiss. Germans rebuild their strength and invade France in 1940 only because Soviet-Nazi trade. But if Soviet goal was expansion and creating Soviet controlled Europe, then pact with Hitler was the best way to secure Soviet position against UK and France

He did not want the side which want Polands back under it's rule.Whites do not want negotiate, Soviet make fake promises from begining to Poles. Like Lenin stating that partition of Polish-Lithuenian Commonwealth was illiegal and Poles have rights to won country. Pilsudski underestimated imperial ideology of Lenin and communism. And war between Poland and Red Russia about Ukrainian and Bielarusan lands, not Russian with big Polish minority. And Brest was not Russian city in 1918, most population was made by Jews.

  34. Over 120 00 0 to 200 000 Poles and people of Polish desendency was killed in USSR in so called Polish Operation done by NKVD. That was done in 1937-38.Even communist! In 1939 to 1941 USSR in invaded lands even 700 000 to 1 000 000 were deported into USSR. No one really know how many of them died, but it could be numbers over 30%. To be precise 20 000 is only number of officers killed, rest soldiers were also killed and used in slave labour. Even up to 100 000 died in that way. And that was only in 1939 to 1941. Later USSR also killed thousends of Polish citzens even after 1944 to 1956. Yes German occupation was brutal, but Soviets were no that much behind.

Poland never form Empire, not like "Third Rome" Russia. USSR was not formed by willing states, but by communist dictatorship. Compare numbers of vcitims of Soviet "paradise" and Polish "occupation" and you will se that Poland in 20 years didn't persecute or kill as many people as USSR just in 2 years of control ove West Ukraine and West Bielarus. In that situation which dictator would be your chocie for negotiation? And Soviets demand basicly from Polaand letting Red Army into Poland. Soviets: over 1400 KV nad T-34 tanks, which Germans can't stop with standard AT-guns. Soviet infantry and German infantry use similar firearms. Mauser Kar98 vs Mosin, MG34 vs DPM and Maxim. Not that big differece. Only Soviet planes were less advance, but still beat Germans in high numbers. Also USSR posses oil fields and all needed materials when Third Reich was cut off from most resouces. Funny is that main source of oil for Germany, Romania can provide only 25% what was need for Third Reich. In all strategic and economic aspects USSR should wipe Third Reich, but inept of communism play into Hitler's hand.

And in comparison to R-M Pact there is no documents proving any Polish-German cooperation in this case. If I am mistaken can you show them to us?

  50. It was strategic mistake. Because they change border with country that was no real treat for them, to border with aggresive country that didn't hide will to destroy them. And probably Hitler would never attack Poland if not the Soviet help. As 1941 show cooperation and trade with Hitler cost them much more than destroynig Poland and gaining that territory. Better is to have neutral, or even non-friendly neirbour than aggresive and ready to invasion state dedicated to destroy your form of government. Poland was never as dengerous in 20th century to Russia as Germany in 1941. Thanks to R-M Pact and trade.
