  12. The Russians are rotating troops in Nova Khakovka, not withdrawing. This has been confirmed by the Ukrainian command in Kyiv.

  14.  @no_rubbernecking  The primary transport hub in the whole area is Tokmak. If they take that they cut off supplies to Crimea, and the rest of Kherson south of the river. Targeting Tokmak puts them half way to Melitopol, so I suspect that's the most likely plan. Take Kherson, Nova Khakovka, Tokmak, Melitopol and destroy the Kerch bridge, and it will be very difficult for Russia to sustain Crimea.

How many of Ukraine's supporters would support an attack on Moscow? None. Therefore, the risks of attacking Moscow are that Ukraine loses all of its foreign backers and the Russians get an excuse to nuke Kyiv. The upsides: some guy on the internet feels a bit more macho.

  40. Because it provides the water supply to Crimea, and the short-term flooding would only affect the southern bank, (the north is much higher), and that's where the Russian defence lines are. It's a war crime, too, to blow up dams, but that means nothing to the Russians.

The hydro plant is going to be an important power source when the war is over, and they'll want the water supply once Crimea is lberated. In the context of the war, though, the dam is a critical crossing point. Why would you blow up a crossing over a river when getting over that river is a critical part of the next phase of the military operations? The water supply to Crimea can be closed off just by shutting a sluice gate.

  48. Yep, I've been saying pretty much this myself. I would just say that picking off a couple of key cities in the Donbas would be a good idea, too. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised to see a total Russian collapse in the next few weeks , if Kherson, Lyman, Sieveredonetsk and Lysychank fall.
