I'm thinking the same. When he was talking about different branches of surgery having different levels of psychopathy I thought EXACTLY that.
Surgeons who do these surgeries genuinely seem to be self-interested psychopaths.
The "harvesting" of skin from one part of a person's body to be used in another, the very many revision and corrective surgeries that are needed for all genital surgeries.... I've said many times that I think these surgeons are GHOULS.
To irrevocably fuck up someone's sex life, sex drive, ability to pee, ability to function... the amount of scarring and nerve damage they could cause, the loss of function... these surgeons seen to have little empathy for their patients (their "victims"??) or little regard for their long term mental and emotional health. They play god every day with people's bodies and their future suffering, physical and psychological. It's a profitable racket for unscrupulous, psychopathic surgeons who "sell" an unrealistic dream of perfection but deliver work that often needs multiple, maybe dozens, of further surgeries. Which clearly means more cash for them, more suffering and risk for the patient. They don't seem to care.
I think that branch of surgery DEFINITELY attracts psychopaths with no conscience and no remorse. They're just happy to exploit the vulnerable and desperate for 💸💰💰💸

thank you for your question here and the benefit of your experience.
Many so called "wanted" children aren't cared for and nurtured, loved and supported the way a child should be.
Many of the children Francis is talking about would have been spared a desperately unhappy life if the pregnancy that resulted in their birth could have been prevented or ended.
The doctor here, well meaning though he is, is being so naive and panglossian here.
More emphasis should be placed on contraception to prevent as many pregnancies as possible, ensuring that only people who really genuinely wanted a child and were psychologically and emotionally willing and capable of giving that child a supportive, loving upbringing that could help them thrive would actively choose to have a child.
Many children just "happen", people feel they want a child for all kinds of selfish reasons that have nothing to do with ensuring a happy, well adjusted member of society is raised.
The number of unwanted kids is heartbreaking. Why on earth would a society want to add to that because some idealistic doctor is a little bit squeamish doing his job?
If he doesn't want to get involved with terminations there are many other health care roles he could take on.
Let others do this job that he personally finds distasteful.
What is more distasteful is forcing a woman to have a child she doesn't want. In the REAL world, that Francis actually has experience of first hand, children in that situation have awful lives. In the doctor's naive and immature mindset, he seems to love in some kind of perfect world of he believes that unwanted children are all wanted *somewhere*. Meanwhile, in the real world, most of these children will always have the knowledge that they weren't planned, they weren't wanted and should never have been conceived and allowed to be born.
This doctor needs to stop trying to interfere in an incredibly complex situation that his rose tinted glasses are shielding him from.
I always made sure i took every care not to get pregnant but if i had i would have had the earliest termination i could possibly get. Having a child would have been a disaster for me, but more importantly it would have been a terrible disaster for that poor child. There's no way i would have inflicted life, and all the suffering and emotional pain that an unhappy life brings onto them.
If a family want a child do everything to support them (as a society we don't help parents be great parents) but if someone is adamant they don't feel able to look after a child, please don't inflict an uncertain, uncaring, unhappy life on them.
That is far more inhumane to me.
Prevention is always better than cure, whatever the situation. Give kids the very best start on life.
And a planned and dearly looked forward to child has the best chance of that.
