It really can't be said enough, fascists and communists don't hate each other because they're so different, they hate each other because they're so similar, and both require total dominance of culture and power.

@soulknife20 theory is completely meaningless if the practice doesn't reflect it.

Vaush: communism is cool, Mao did nothing wrong. Censors: cool. Tik: the history books aren't entirely accurate, fascism, Nazism and communism are all derived from socialism. Censors: REEEEEEE!!!! FASCIST!!!!!

Capitalism is when I don't have as much money as I feel like I should have. According to Marxists.
64
I think we just failed to defeat both of them. Just because one was bad doesn't mean the other wasn't also bad.

@patman-bp3qg money is the only way to scale trade up to a larger scale. A chicken farmer can't carry chickens around with him everywhere he goes in case he wants to make a trade, and not everyone wants or needs chickens. It would be pretty annoying if he had to trade chickens for shoes so he could trade shoes for corn, so he could trade corn for wood, when all he really needed was wood, but the lumberjack didn't need any chickens or shoes. So we come up with a currency that represents X amount of chickens, or Y amount of corn, and so on and so on.

I'm in a sort of minority, an atheist conservative, sort of, I'm somewhere between conservative and libertarian, but I'm definitely an atheist and I'm definitely not on the left. It's very bizarre to see the overwhelming majority of atheists replace traditional religion with a creepy, cult like attachment to politics. It really makes no sense, "I believe in science, I'm too smart to believe in fairy tales like those dumb Christians, but also, men can be women and socialism will definitely work this time."
57
@Dionaea_floridensis I've always thought a reboot could be great, imagine Dale as the most respected man in Arlen because almost all of his crazy conspiracy theories have come true🤣
55
@zumurudlilit capitalism makes no claims of utopia, it just means that you're free to seek compensation for your labor or services.
54
Reality: exists. Commies: big mad.
52
@flameguy3416 yep. They don't hate each other because they're opposite ideologies, they hate each other because they're so similar, and both of them require total dominance.
43
Socialists are socialist because they don't understand socialism. The rest of us aren't socialist, because we do understand socialism.
43
@yendevus1747 the US is #10 in obesity, and #4 in diabetes. That's obviously not great, but not #1 in either.
36
@nicholaspape6865 I have a theory that I can fly. Of course I can't, every time I jump off a roof I just plop on the ground and it hurts a lot. But my theory still stands. I'll get it right next time. Probably.
35
@Iron_Wyvern well you don't have to be a genius to understand it, but that doesn't mean it's not true.
32
@soulknife20 ah, so now socialism is when taxes, when that argument is convenient?
30
I think what he meant is that "race" is sort of a junk term, from a scientific perspective. Obviously people have genetic differences based on ethnicity, but those lines really aren't that clearly drawn, and there's a lot of grey area and overlap. You can group people by racial or ethnic categories to some extent, and subcategories, and so on and so on, but there are always going to be enough outliers that you can't really draw rigid lines.
27
Yea it's the internet. Everyone knows everything about everything. New here?
27
@martiendejong8857 how would it work if it isn't enforced? Not sure if you're aware of this, but rich people don't usually just give their stuff to poor people because they're cool dudes like that. Sometimes they do. But if you want all of them to, or even most of them, it has to be enforced.
26
Whenever they talk about people being self interested, what they really mean is that smart and talented people should be forced to care about me.
23
Just competing different visions of the same monster - socialism.
21
Everyone has childhood trauma, obviously to varying degrees. But some of us use that as an excuse to be children forever, and some of us use it as a reason to be stronger adults.
21
@Gate-of-Dawnif having a mustache is gay, then Freddie Mercury was gay. Oh yea. He was super gay. Point taken.
19
Don't you know? Capitalism is when rich people exist and I'm not rich people. And it's bad.
19
@arkoa0000 just a quick search, American Somoa is #1 in obesity rate, China is #1 in diabetes rate. And some of these numbers can be misleading, most of the top in obesity are island nations that are mostly ethnically Samoan, and Samoan people have a genetic disposition to retaining calories. So an obese Samoan probably isn't as unhealthy as an obese European or African, their bodies are built to sustain that. And I don't take any statistics coming from China to heart, since they lie about everything, but at the same time they have no reason to lie to make themselves look bad. So take that as you will.
16
At least if someone ever sarcastically asks if you're a rocket scientist, you can say "yep". So the degree is at least worth something.
15
That mustache too. There's no way a sane person looks at that and says "yep. That looks awesome."
12
@chico9805 the US wasn't founded as a Christian state, it was founded as a free state, with freedom of religion, based on Christian principles. The entire reason we came here was to escape the oppression of religious tyranny.
12
@soulknife20 ok, so framing socialism as government services was a dishonest remark on your part, because you don't think government services equal socialism. Good. Glad we agree. You're a liar.
12
@gmodrules123456789 unironically, yes, public ownership of the economy is evil, because it always turns into government ownership of everything, including you.
11
@martiendejong8857 both are true. It's normal to be selfish to some extent, you can't really help anyone if you don't help yourself first. You're supposed to be the most important person in your own life, so you can help the other people you care about as much as possible. The tricky part is just finding the proper balance.
9
I'm still waiting for the Internet to understand the difference between libertarian and anarchist.
9
@the_mowron well I consider myself "culturally Christian" if the term makes sense, all of the stuff about just not being a dick and treating people right, love your family, be respectful and all that, sure, I'm all aboard. I just don't believe all the supernatural stuff. So I can't call myself a Christian, because that wouldn't be true. I still have far more in common with most Christian conservatives than leftist atheists.
9
Lmfao, I just watched that episode the other day.
9
You gotta be careful when you talk about the tiny mustache man, any deviation from the established narrative can get you in the googlag.
9
@chico9805 the general moral framework of Christianity, and a more free market.
8
It really does sound like some kind of skit, like one where they would start by proudly announcing all their views, and end up accidentally going in some kind of circular fallacy and end up with a completely different view🤣
8
Some of that is probably just getting older too, whether you care about economics or not, economics cares about you. That stupid shit follows you everywhere. You can't ignore it forever.
7
I live in Houston, it's hard to believe that private enterprise would be any worse at maintaining the roads than the state is. There are sections of the freeway that have been under construction for my entire life.
7
@limitlessapocalypse2702 what has he been wrong about?
7
@LaOwlett yes, he does think all of those things are completely fine, because he would be the one extracting resources from people who worked for them.
7
Most smart people are also pretty weird. You can even make the argument that being smart is inherently weird, since anyone who has ever driven a car knows that most people are very, very, very, very stupid.
6
@ZESAUCEBOSS same here, I went to The University of Texas San Antonio right out of HS, because that's what you do, you go to college. Plus my then girlfriend was going there, I figured why not? But I had no idea what I wanted to do. I ended up dropping out after 4 semesters, GPA was shit and I lost my grant. So it was just a wasted 2 years.
6
That guy is still around? He lost his marbles around the same time he went vegan.
5
I think you can tell a lot about a person by asking them to do something completely benign, but for no reason. Like "raise your right hand" or "say banana". If they just do it without asking questions, they're probably likely to fall for propaganda and other manipulation. If they ask why, or just laugh at you, probably not.
5
I think "left" and "right" is a bit of an overly reductive view of the political paradigm. It's useful as a visualization, but that's about all.
5
@CrispyCircuits but those are problems with economic systems, not the broader concept of money. There's really no efficient way to have anything larger than a small village without some kind of standard currency.
5
@about37ninjas well all it really takes to be a Christian is saying you're a Christian. I think we all know the difference between people who really try to adhere to it, and people who just say it. But technically, just saying it makes it true.
4
ANARCHY!!!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS, BUT I LIKE IT!!!
4
@asablkofc I would be really curious to hear how you broke free from that mentality. Seems like for every one like you, there are a dozen more than never break free.
