The French asked for an extension nearly two years ago which would extend the design completion date from July 2022 to September 2023. Cost overruns, failure to deliver contractual obligations on time, hostility from the French whenever Australia tried to work out these issues with the French. 2.5 billion dollars and no finished design after five years. That is a cost overrun and all the French lies and tantrums don't change the facts. France failed to honour the contract with Australia. Macron is a lying brat, he should explain why the French have failed to deliver when all they were doing is modifying an existing design from nuclear propulsion to diesel-electric propulsion. After five years and 2.5 billion dollars they did not even finish the design let alone start building the first sub in France as specified by the contract, nor did they start building a shipyard in Adelaide as specified by the contract. Why Australian media is spinning this issue with the French as Australia's fault when the evidence is there for all to see says everything about the Australian media.
