I've said for many years now - the fascists lost wwll but are now taking over the world. it began in America almost immediately following the war with the fascists stealing the word "libertarianism," the House Un-American Activities Committee's investigations into left-wing organizations and the fbi infiltration and undermining said organizations. followed by the take over of money and elitist control of the media and politics and Reagan's reactionism which has completely corrupted America's political process. the democrats are very much to blame too as they've turned right-of-center and neo-liberal over the last 40 years. but the dems biggest failure is mainly they're propensity to simply not fight back, roll over and allow the GOP to lie and cheat and walk all over them. I agree with Chomsky assessment. he's no fan of the democrats but he identifies the GOP as one of the most destructive, corrupt and criminal organizations in the country if not the world.
