ALL socialism is democratic. there's no such thing as "authoritarian" socialism. its just a fascist lie. and FDR was no socialist. he based his reforms on a capitalist economist named john maynard keynes who simply advocated govt deficit spending in times of dramatic economic downturns; like a derpression. keyenes was NO socialist and his policies were to placate public dissatisfaction and to STOP real revolution and keep the rich and their corporations in power. and it succeeded. sadly, few people on earth know what socialism actually is. and many, if not most, self-proclaimed "socialists" fall into this category. socialism ISN'T about taxes, big govt or govt programs. socialism is a UNITED, cooperative and coordinated democratic society where taxes, big govt and govt programs AREN'T needed! its where social responsibility is equated with individual rights. as much as i like mr wolff and appreciate his knowledge of capitalism, and how it fails to work, he's wrong about what defines the intent and goals of socialism. BIG GOVT, like big corporations, is the result of capitalism NOT socialism. govt interference to control the potential ravages of unfettered capitalist fraud and greed is a capitalist construct. because, under capitalism, THE RICH OLIGARCHS, own and operated both the govt and private enterprise. govt protections against capitalist greed and corruption may be better than no protections at all, but they exist to PROP UP and perpetuate capitalist economics and keep the rich in power.

  5. you just described fascism. its stated in Schindlers List very plainly. its where you can be punished for doing the right thing, for following the law and doing what you're told. there's NO set of definative rules to follow. everything is arbitrary and corrupt. this creates confusion, suspicion, mistrusr and FEAR in the popluation the rulers can exploit.
