  1. thanks to all the fire-hosing we've been bombarded with since after ww2, with the fascist takeover of our govt after defeating foreign fascism in the war, the definitions of political words have become completely corrupted. the word "liberal" means change (untried, progressive change) and traditionally, speaking, encompasses the ENTIRE left of the political spectrum. the word "conservative" means accepting the status quo and encompasses not only the middle of the political spectrum but also its right which includes the "reactionaries" who, being dissatisfied with the status quo, want regressive change (they want to turn the clock back). capitalism was determined to be a liberal philosophy because it offered a transition, a change from feudalism. but in reality it resulted in being just another form of elitist rule. democracy, being an alternative to elitist, aristocratic rule, IS a liberal philosophy. but people realized capitalism corrupts democratic intent. so socialism quickly developed as a TRUE liberal, leftist, progressive response to capitalism. socialism is economic democracy and democracy is political socialism. the one can't exist without the other. capitalism, being just as elitist and corrupt as feudalism became the status quo and spread throughout the world as it was pushed by the world's elite but retained the moniker of CLASSICAL-liberalism. socialism is the true liberalism as it represents REAL progressive, social change. today, the word classical-liberalism has been replaced by NEO-liberalism. these are people who, largely embrace some social changes, an end to racism, women's rights and labor protections, but also embrace the continuation of elitist rule through a capitalist economic system. in short, a neo-liberal is a conservative on economic issues and rejects socialism, while maintaining liberal desires for at least some level of govt protections for individual rights from elitist corruption.
