So, if we have trillions to throw away then why don't we have any money to put towards actually helping the American people? What-about-ism is only NOT an argument when both sides are wrong, as in "look he did it so I should be able to as well". Medicare for all would SAVE trillions and we somehow "can't afford" that...

  7. Jesus, this is terrifying. The homeless numbers now are just under 700,000. And there's been multiple cities just this last year that have literally criminalized being homeless, most notably in texas. I just read another article about a church in Ohio that, just this last week during the giant snow storms and freezing cold, was raided by police and forced to kick out the homeless back onto the street that were temporarily allowed to rest there. The pastor of the church is now facing criminal charges because there's a city ordinance that says that no establishments are allowed to let people sleep there. The same day that multiple people froze to death because they didn't have anywhere to go. In the US we are all just one medical or other emergency away from being homeless and therefore enslaved or murdered by the state.

  9. I wish Warren would have pushed harder on the point that wages are not causing inflation, it's corporate price gouging and monopoly power. And I wish Jerome Powell would push back against congress and tell them it's their job to reign in monopolies and that he does not have the power to fight this fight. The US is all about giving billionaires free money and criminalizing the poor for not being able to foot the bill.

  11. We don't celebrate people being gay just for the sake of people being gay. lol We celebrate underdogs and overcoming societal hindrances to human rights. We all love a good superhero story. Just like we celebrate the ending of slavery, the civil rights movement, women's rights/history. We celebrate chrismas as an homage to a dude who supposedly gave his life to make the world a better place. Hell, maybe if we celebrated banning child labor as a holiday republican states wouldn't be so easily able to bring it back. We even celebrate our own birthdays cause ain't nothing more mentally damaging than the experience of being born but we shake if off, learn to walk and then celebrate our own achievement.

  16.  @parkermudsen1063  My guess is that FL is only growing because of all the baby boomers retiring. In a couple years when they all run out of money due to skyhigh real estate and insurance prices, or because they chose not to have insurance and got wiped out by a hurricane, FL will have a huge homeless crisis and only the rich will be able to live there.

  24. Losing $58 million is chump change for big tech newcomers, the real reason it tanked is cause it has no future and no growth. Silicon Valley is fine with infinite losses as long as companies are growing rapidly and can gain some sort of market dominance or the ultimate goal of monopoly power.

  29. 40% of all jobs in the US are effectively minimum wage jobs. Can't really tell 40% of the population to just "get a better job". Austerity is the whole point as it allows the rich to gather/hoard more of the money supply and dampen the economic and political power of the people.

If the company can just dump it's waste or spew it into the air instead of paying to clean it then that's essentially a free subsidy which mean their money is working more efficiently.
