Putin campaigned on the promise he'd never conscript people over a certain age. He lied about that. That's just one of many things he's lied about. But there are campaign ads where in an alternate "non-Putin" reality a man aged 58 would get drafted under the new leadership, obviously implying such a thing would never happened under Putin himself. And then it did.

Well, it's already a cold war yeah. For sure that's what this is, we're in it right now with China and Russia. I fear that it will devolve into a full blown military conflict.
1
In a world where people are trained to not be able to take a joke, is there even a place for comedians anymore? I think people who get offended that easily should be pre-determined somehow and banned from these events. Like, I can't think of a worse place for someone who is easily offended to go than a fking comedy show.
1
well one thing you can say Trump did right is he took the handcuffs off the military and allowed them to destroy ISIS with impunity

Honestly if you live in California and haven't moved yet it's probably too late. California is not just literally but also metaphorically burning before our very eyes. The homeless problem is another issue altogether. Homeless people mean crime rates increase and property values diminish. You can't even walk through most parks in the most liberal cities in California without coming across dozens of little homeless communities, and like a trail of breadcrumbs you can frequently find them by following the trails of needles left haphazardly out in the open for anyone including your kids or yourself to accidentally step on. For all the net positives California offers, among which are beautiful weather AND climate, everything else especially on the human side and the management side is unbelievably bad. All this on top of some of the highest, if not the actual highest, taxes in the entire country.

The man kind of sounds like Joe Biden. If you took away his face and just listened to his voice like from a distance, you might even assume it was Joe Biden speaking. Random observation of mine
1
We've been there so long now people forget we're even still at war there
1
I really hope that the people benefiting from this are taking full advantage of it. You got access to showers so you don't have to go into a job interview looking homeless, you could even go back to school and work part time. It can change their lives but sadly I imagine most of them are living month to month and once this vacation is over they'll just happily go back on the streets and remember the "glory days of when they let us stay in a hotel for free. Pass the crack."
1
@Lavish_Clipz If there's some like "where are they now?" for these kids that's news to me. And for those that aren't currently in jail, I did say 80% either ARE in jail or HAVE BEEN in jail. I could maybe extend it even further and say "Or will probably go to jail at some point in their lives". Doesn't seem like there's a statistical likelihood of a good outcome for them.
1
We are like THIS close makes the hand symbol that women who insult guys with small dicks make to another Civil War. After the election I am genuinely worried regardless of who wins what is going to happen, we're that divided. It's not cool.
1
@Hansen710 America is never going to be like Denmark in that way. Never. For good or for bad, it isn't going to happen. The idea that you not only get a stipend for doing nothing, but even a place to stay if you can't afford one yourself, is 100% not favorable with a good portion of the voter bloc. Liberals are about to get trounced in a few days for our midterm elections and that's because our MOST EXTREME liberals are trying to establish something just like that when everyone else is working for it and griping that they're paying for it, because honestly what you make sound "free" is coming out of someone's pocket. I don't even agree with conservatives for everything but I do think if you're a leech, you're a leech and you ultimately reap what you sow.
1
@SignedOff402 Be safe... keep us posted on how things go.
1
The real problem is they joined the military thinking they're fighting for their country. Some of them believe with their entire hearts in the oath they swore to the constitution. They went over there to fight a war and have no problem fighting one here too. In fact, they're better trained and better prepared to do so than a lot of people over here are. 1% of the American population are military. They believe they're doing the right thing even if it's so flagrant and disgusting as it is when it comes to outright nationalism and nationalistic tactics and philosophies.
1
Does he play online? There's a huge competitive scene for fighting games, VICE has another great documentary about that.
1
@Uhavenoright toask You're shitting me right? There's a ton of great TV right now. You may not know what to look for but that doesn't mean it isn't there.
1
I want one lol I don't know I think the shootings in America are despicable and terrible... but that's why you should want one man.
1
Honestly I'd be liable to kill someone if this happened to my daughter.
1
That's rough man. Hang in there
1
lol I love the title and thumbnail of this video. People living in squalor voted for Trump. In what appeared to be an underground homeless ... place. Or something. Well, they're not wrong. People are like "How did Hillary lose? The polls were ALL showing her beating him! She was 98% guaranteed to win [actual source was Politico or RealClearPolitics, I forget, but it was that high]. The kind of people that voted for trump are the kind of people who get the phone calls or mail from pollers and hang up on them or piss on the mail then return it or something like that. They come outta the woodwork every four years, every November.

The one guy committed suicide. Coward.

Whether you agree with it or not the fact is the war on drugs is a failure, it's a waste of money and it ruins lives on a far more substantial level than any like risk of overdose or death from the substances ever could. The subculture arguably is what makes hard drugs dangerous, the fact they have to do it in the shadows to begin with.
1
If you think about it it's really not a surprise at all that the allure of the cartel to those people is so strong. Even the politician lady they interview halfway through is like "The way we're going to fight it is by FREEZING bank accounts, changing society itself and more importantly giving opportunities to the youth that would allow them to make almost as much money as they would [if they signed up to be a soldier in a cartel]." ALMOST as much, she said, which probably isn't even close to true. And this poor kid who is 13 they interview, he's openly talking about like "Well, when I get older I kind of want to be a veterinarian." and they laugh like "OK, sure. Right." They aren't going to let him go if he wants to when that time comes. He may not realize it but he's with them for life, now. Or until he dies, more accurately. Ironically speaking he may be safer with the cartel than not, though.

Cause Saudi Arabia has all the oil. There's no reason to be there fighting that other than because this is the most profitable thing weapons contractors have ever done.
1
It pisses me off mainly because they're out there growing almonds to make almond milk and then complaining about their lack of water in the same breath. Look man I'm from New Orleans. I wish we could capture all of the water we get basically half of the year from either torrential rain or, worse, hurricanes and then pipe it out to you (for a price, of course). But barring that, get your heads out of the sand and realize what's going on and then cut every single needless water-consuming industry and activity that you have. ALL of them. You don't have water like that anymore. You never really did in the first place, to be honest.

I believe China manufactured the coronavirus as a result of the trade war. They're like "You wanna hit us in the wallet where it hurts? Well, we can play that game too." so they conspired with the WHO, infected their own people after developing the vaccine for it themselves, and waited until the Chinese new year for people to travel on a massive scale (this was in February or so of 2020) and only THEN did it get declared a pandemic about a month later, leaving the West to figure it out and fend for themselves. They've been dealing with SARS-type viruses for a long time, it was all new territory for us and it has cost untold amounts of money ... meanwhile China's basically already re-opening. If it wasn't an act of war, it could not have worked out more in their favor.

I know he does, a lot of his perception is based on feel and when they are intimate he can tell. In the same way you can tell if someone is heavier if you accidentally bump into them.

Overdosing is scary. You don't really even know it's happening to you as it's happening. Basically what happens is you either take too much OR maybe you took it on an empty stomach or something (or both, even worse still) and the thing is most addicts just expect they'll wake from it at some point because usually they do. When they DON'T, though, that's when an overdose is fatal. An overdose is basically just you taking so much of a powerful sedative in the form of the heroin or oxy or whatever it is, and you're in such a depressed (physically, not emotionally) state that your lungs and other essential organs "go to sleep" too. When the lungs stop working, you stop breathing obviously, and if you don't have intervention ASAP chances are very good you're going to die. The one time I overdosed I had only just started shooting up and I was deep in the throes of my addiction, so much so that I skipped out on food if it meant that I'd have more money for drugs. So I ended up taking this shot on an empty stomach. Fortunately I wasn't alone. I don't remember anything beyond just sitting on the couch and falling into a deep sleep. Next thing you know I feel cold water on my face but it wasn't enough so THEN I got slapped in the face and that's when I truly woke up.

The mood of the country is like 1820's America where the disparity between economies is becoming more and more clear, except it's not as much a regional thing like it was back then it's more of a class thing now. With machines getting more and more sophisticated, the need for manual labor is just disappearing. This means a lot of people will go without jobs as soon as machines are able to do their jobs instead. And they'd do it better, faster, and safer and wouldn't need to take a break or have any of the shortcomings that normal people usually do.
1
So he comes back to America, evades formal charges and then is found dead mysteriously shortly thereafter. Nothing weird there at ALL. /s

Good luck to all those kids, man. That's just the plain and simple truth of it, you just can't count on coal anymore. It's extremely wise they're taking their educations seriously and thinking about the future differently. I think they'll do really well, they even have an idea for a little business. Think big and you will do big. Just don't forget where you came from when you make it! Bring a new industry to that town and you can revitalize it.
1
the only issue would be the rich spoiled brats who won't like living down there long term. I mean he said some of the kids wanted a Fortnite room... that's really gonna suck if they have to use this though when they can only basically plan LAN matches OR confront the reality that the people they enjoyed playing with most, most likely died in the events leading up to them living in the bunker.
1
It says a lot when China pays their teachers three times what Oklahoma would. The US doesn't seem to put an emphasis on education anymore at all beyond the whole "learning the game then getting into the best college you can" thing. The educational system is crumbling. We need to be investing all the money we spend on bullets and shells and tanks into the futures of young people. IDC if it's 10x more than what we currently spend, that's still way less than what we're spending on weapons.

It's funny how many Chinese keyboard warriors will come here and talk shit about Westerners and Western culture. This is most apparent when you go to like Hong Kong related videos nowadays, you'll have a ton of HK people basically begging for American intervention and then what seems like an equal amount of them saying "America please take them, we don't want them" and they're the same people who with a straight face will insist China's a communist country... even though there's clear class distinctions just like there is in every capitalist country in the world. They have all the benefits and good things of a proper Capitalist nation with the largest economy in the world as of right now... but they also still enjoy some good old fashioned slave labor by way of their draconian communist policies. It's truly getting Orwellian over there. Just in time for the Chinese civilian credit system, they have more facial recognition cameras than any other country in the entire world to track their peon's -- err... I mean civilian's -- every move, step and action. No wonder the people in HK are desperate not to get absorbed into it themselves. But it's just funny all these Chinese people are defending their terrible, evil country's oppression of them. All the while basically having to use a VPN just to get on YouTube to have the argument in the first place with you, as their government doesn't allow them to use the same version of Google we have and doesn't let them use YouTube that I am aware of. Can't play GTA5, but we all know how many of them do anyway. They have to use VPN to do it, though. That's why their asses lag so much in game, but I digress.

Chicago doesn't have just one serial killer roaming the streets, it has dozens if not hundreds. Gang gang gang
1
@wildfire9280 I mean, sure you can get lung cancer for instance if you didn't smoke. But guess what? You're more likely to get lung cancer if you smoke than if you don't. I am not saying that bad things won't happen to you if you make nothing but good decisions, I am just saying that it's much, much more likely to happen if you make more bad choices than good. And when it comes to living in a goddamn trailer, like listen the only worse living arrangement you can have is homelessness. And homeless people are homeless because of mental illness and bad choices or both. It is very, very easy to live your life without having to resort to live in a trailer, regardless of good choices made in life or bad. But no, nobody lives in a trailer because they're batting .1000 with good choices made in life. Nobody lives in a trailer by choice, for that matter. It's a dead end road for a reason.

@Machiave11i The likelihood of having your land acquired by eminent domain is pretty low. It's pretty messed up though, the city or powers that be can take it from you just because it's in the way of something they want to build and they do compensate you for it but the amount they actually pay you is shamefully low and well below what it's actually worth. Something that should be illegal IMO.
1
"If Jesus Christ descended from the Heavens, and [asked the gang members to stop killing each other], that would still be very hard to do." Nope, I think that might be just about the only thing that would get them to stop. Jesus rolls in and is like "Have you not learned a thing from me? I know what each and every single one of you have done, but I will give you all one last chance. If you spill my blood one more time, when you die, and you will die, you will spend the rest of eternity in the lake of fire, having been banished from my Kingdom for your transgressions against your brothers and sisters and to me."

1984 was about 35 years late... but here it is. This is the scariest shit I've ever seen in my entire life, and I've seen Midsommar.
1
I still think it's better than anything else docu-news wise. But the underlying biases are more apparent than ever before. I actually didn't know Rupert Murdoch bought them, but that explains a lot even though traditionally I always thought he was more conservative leaning.
1
Just remember that for every one Trump supporter that did what they did at the Capitol on January 6, there's like 10,000 or whatever people like this. The more reasonable ones. We may not ever agree on policy or the issues, but at the very least he's not insane.
1
King Nothing Portland's a lost cause at this point. That's the liberal version of extremism in politics gone wrong, just as the Capitol riots are the conservative version of extremism gone wrong.
1
I couldn't do it. But unfortunately whether it's videos of children being abused, or like animal snuff films, whatever it is -- these investigators HAVE to watch every single frame of every single video, sometimes multiple times. Why? To look for any kind of clue to catch the bastards doing this shit. I couldn't personally do it, but I pray for those that do. I can't think of a better way to hate humanity more, but you have to remind yourself it's not all of us. It's not even most of us. And God is watching all. I do believe even if you get away with something heinous your entire life, you will still pay for it somehow, someway, someday.
1
Shane Smith is the original OG when it comes to North Korea. I guess it's slightly more lax now (if you can even say that to begin with) but some things never change -- you're only filming what they want you to film. Period. Nothing else. If you get caught trying to film anything else (something Shane has done and not been caught, yet they don't seem to care now almost as if they weren't following VICE's videos about them at all) you are in deep shit.
1
Phillippines prisons are rough, man, I just hope they have the same sense of justice that our own inmates in America have. Over here if you're in for sexual assault of a child, you may as well just ask for solitary confinement for your entire stay. You will not be safe. You have to remember a lot of people in jail were victimized in various ways as kids, themselves. Had their own innocence and purity taken away. I think that's why the code is what it is. If you hurt kids, you're a dead man in prison. Good I hope he suffers ten times as much as he's hurt other people.
1
"By liberating Ukraine, we'll liberate Belarus" Russia dun goofed. They picked a fight to take one territory, and they're going to wind up losing even more than that, not to mention tens if not hundreds of thousands or millions of their own people (by the time it's over), the trust of their own citizenry, and their economy itself. It's like that aspect of Braveheart where the Scots end up declaring war on England after they've had enough, next thing you know the Irish are showing up to help. Two birds with one stone.
1
Yeah I knew that as soon as he said "This is coming from a kid who spent his 20's trying to make a living as a poker player." For every Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ivey, there are TONS of people who get burned trying to do the same exact thing. They're called fish among the not so polite people in the poker world.
1
oh I always I thought you had to sell your soul to the Devil. guess China works too
1
Yeah and sometimes it really throws him for a few spins. He always comes around sooner or later though.
1
Did he say $1-3 million or $103 million dollars?
1
He's not wrong, if heroin was regulated like any other pharmaceutical then there would be less deaths from it. It also wouldn't cost as much as it currently does. Basically every measurable benefit would be observed from the outright legalization of it. And if for nothing else it takes the power out of the hands of criminals who are currently making a fortune and spend untold amounts of money lobbying to keep it illegal because the party would be over if it ever did get legalized. They'd have to go back to actually like committing violent crimes again, as is the illegality is only CAUSING violent crime due to competition over the marketplace.
