Well, for one thing, I still have my soul and I'm not willing to sell it for a popularity contest. You see any politician today get into trouble and what do you get? Cover up, distraction, a whole bunch of me, me, me! I could never be capable of being THIS selfish, so I could never make it into politics.

  2. Trump was shot at. That's not in dispute. Neither is that this was an assassination attempt. What is in dispute are his injuries. MAGA wouldn't consider anyone other than Trump getting nicked by debris during an assassination attempt to be heroic. With Trump, if they do manage to convince everyone he wasn't even touched by a bullet, they'd shift the goalpost fixating on the attempt, not the injury. They really want him to have taken a bullet heroically, and will see it as less if not, even if they won't admit it publicly.

  9. True conservatism is about holding onto the past and tradition. A functioning conservative movement wants to keep progress from charging forward without thought or consideration. I haven't seen a true conservative in my life, at least not one that claims to be a conservative. All the ones I see want to halt progress altogether, thinking they can stop the march of progress, and to drag us back to a time when they were most comfortable. I might be able to criticize my side equally, but my side isn't in danger of destroying everything the way the extreme right is.

  16. To be fair, had he warned the press, the military, anyone outside the bubble he was in, his life would have been in much more danger than it already was. Trump might have ordered the secret service to arrest him for treason, illegally obviously, but they likely would have done it. Of course, most of us would say we'd choose integrity over a megalomaniacal dictator, but it'd hard to know what we'd do with that gun pointed at our heads. We know what Pence did, the safest thing. Doing the right thing at the end matters, but much less if you dragged your feet and tried everything else first.

It sounds grotesque for a person to describe what they believe to be a fully-fledged human being as a parasite, but from a purely clinical, purely scientific standpoint, that's what it is. Thing is, they don't all survive to birth. Miscarriages happen all the time. Even BEFORE things get that far, a fertilized egg can be flushed out because it didn't make it in time to implant. Yet, they would call that a person. A person is what survives outside the womb. Full stop.

They actually believe they have the right to push whatever religious ideology they have on people because of that propaganda. Most of the founding fathers were nonbelievers, deists (not believing in a personal God or in Jesus but believing that some sort of god or godlike being created the universe), or were outright atheists. Thomas Jefferson actually freaking edited the Bible to remove all miracles and claims of divinity, but sure, this is a "Christian Nation." I'm glad you lived in more decent places than here.
