  1. They quickly realize they aren't responsible enough to take care of another life and end up getting it euthanized, letting it starve, etc... Then they make up a story about a friend they sent their new friend to who is a great person etc.

They are the same time of people who would try to get well fed and happy lions put back in the wild.
