Practical production of hydrogen by electrolysis is only 50% efficient (whatever ‘experts’ on the internet claim - the higher efficiencies rapidly burn through expensive rare element electrodes). Liquefaction/compression is only 70% efficient. Fuel cells are only 50% efficient. Add in distribution and you’re down to around a 15% total efficiency. EVs are 4x to 6x more efficient. Note that this applies regardless of the original source of the energy.

  36. A good source for degradation data and provenly real world mileages is Bjorn Nyland. You can watch videos where he literally drives 1,000 km with full telemetry and analysis on a wide range of EVs - not just Teslas.

  40. For the RoboTaxi work commute (and generally) there’s a very obvious need for a car optimised for a single passenger (possibly with an occasional 2nd in tandem)... ...Just not yet. (And they might never be available for private purchase).

  41. Because EVs are usually heavier, they do currently produce more particulates from their tyres and the tyres do wear more quickly. But over time this will improve and those particulates aren’t as much of a problem as those from ICE cars. I’m also guessing that long term, the smoother driving by FSD will completely reverse this.
